    • If you use a revolut virtual card then nothing.

  • Cheers OP, just ordered a 128gb Ultra. Was waiting for the new series of phones but decided this is a good deal. Wanted a larger size but all sold out.

    I used my hotmail email for the newsletter bonus, had a $50 voucher instantly. I also messaged chat and said I was deciding between a s21 and iphone 12, they confirmed I already have a samsung phone and got the $100 instantly.

    Used the App to purchase it all. All done very easily.

    Can anyone confirm, if you don't send in the phone, can you re use this phone if there is another deal later on??

    Thanks.

    • Whats the final price for 128gb ultra?

      • 869 with a $30 rebate for an s9.

        • Thank you.

  • has anyone tried just getting the trade in code from their sister or brother phone? Will any bad things happen?

    • If you don't return the phone within 14 days…. Chucky and his sister annabelle will bust your home and take revenge as i know what you did last summer… 😂

  • Is the samsung chat down?

  • +1

    Anyone tried to create their trade-in on the app today? I keep failing when entering card number, no matter what card I tried (Visa, Master, didn't work). Keep getting "card validation failed" error in the tradeup app. I've uninstalled and started over only to get the same error too :(

    • I have a similar problem sometimes the validation fails; finally got the validation approved now the ID is not working……very very annoyed.

      • did u just keep entering the card number? I tried that, uninstalling a couple of times too, still failed, not sure where I did wrong

        • I uninstalled the app did the process again; it validated the card details and the card even got charged like $1 for verification and I got the ID but still cannot place the order as the Samsung website shows Trade-In is not available at the moment.

  • If anyone has a spare newsletter code and willing to share that would be nice. I've applied for four of them using different emails but yet to get it. I'll share them all on here once they come through.

  • Thank you OP.
    Finally caved in for the S21 Ultra 512gb Phantom Brown with $100 chat code and $50 newsletter code.

    Discounted S21U 512GB: $1849
    Trade in N10+ 256GB: $175 (won't return it)
    Trade in bonus: $500
    Chat code: $100
    Newsletter code: $50
    $1849 - ($175+$500+100+50) = $1024

    Since I won't be returning the N10+: $1024+$175= $1199

    Still pretty good price for the highest spec of S21U.

    • oh did you receive the $300 off RRP?

    • This time there is a $60 Device Non-Return Administration Fee on top.

      • Where was that mentioned?

        • T&C

          5.6 If You:

    Everything is locked and loaded, S21 Ultra, $1549, less $40 trade in, less $500 discount, less $100 chat code, so it's down to $909…But in true Ozbargain style, holding out for that elusive extra $50 newsletter code to bring it down to $859…

    Has anyone had any joy with receiving a newsletter code in the last 24 hours, because I've entered in four email addresses, and nada, nil, zero.

    • I'm also impatiently waiting.

      Part of me is preparing for this deal to be withdrawn just in time to receive the newsletter code when I've got everything else lined up ready to go.

      • Ridiculous how long we need to wait for a $50 promo code haha

      • The Grey color samsung is sold out, more will start selling out soon

    Bought S21 for $364 sweet, trade in was iphone 7, not going to trade it in though

  • -5

    So my 73yo father just got an iPhone 12 pro, which is 99% smooth, he will never be switching to Samsung. Samsung values his phone at $560

    Whereas I have an S10+ with a cracked screen which Samsung values at $10.

    Samsung values his phone at $560 - So if I go through the purchase stages, I get $500 trade-in bonus + $560 Trade in value + $150 discount for chat/newsletter, and then I just pay $60 and don't send in his phone? He doesn't lose any data or anything on his phone?

    $1210 discount - so S21 Ultra 256GB is $1,649-$1210=$439 + $60 Device Non-Return Administration Fee ?

    Why would you vote again my comment random person?

    • Please read the T&C Clause 5.6 (a) and tell us what you are missing. FYI, I did not neg you.

  • how are you guys getting the trade -in id for the deal if plan on not returning it? do you need to own the phone in order to do that?

    • You need to have access to a phone that you can use to download the trade up app and use the app (e.g. your own phone, or someone else's phone who gives you permission to do that).

  • All phones in my family ineligible for the trade-up app.

    How can I get a trade in code?

    • You can't in that case, as it needs to be an eligible phone.

  • Caved in and bought 512gb phantom navy. Was waiting for pixel but I don't think it will be all that.

    Paid $1199 ($110 trade in which I won't return). $1259 if they charge admin fee (will update on this post if they do).

    Tip: when I spoke to a rep, I told them my s8+ was not eligible using the app. They gave me $100 voucher, no questions asked. Tried to upsell me with accessories as well.

    Used a work phone which I wont trade-in and was able to get S21 256GB for $480 (but will pay the $20 to keep the phone).

  • anyone lucky enought to get signup discount code in email? i didnt get it with 5 diff email add..anyone willing to share?
    thanks

    • Same. Ended emailing them. Not sure if they work Saturday.

      • Signed up in arvo and still waiting. Jees not sure how long they gonna take.

        • Got my code and manage to get $50 off. Seems code is automated not manual

  • still waiting for my $50 newsletter discount

  • Does anyone know a guaranteed way to obtain the $50 newsletter sign up code. I've tried Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, ProtonMail, and my work email address over the last couple of days and no success with any. Have used different browsers, both in privacy and non privacy mode but no joy. If anyone has a guaranteed way that can share, would be appreciated

    • my came after 12 hours

      • Did you sign up with Gmail/Hotmail/Yahoo/ProtonMail?

        • Gmail

          • @Homr: Good to hear you got it in Gmail! I've read a few comments that Gmail users haven't been receiving their $50 codes.

            • +1

              @trueamity: I'm not sure if this had an impact, but as soon as I signed up for newsletter, i emailed them straight away asking for it

              [email protected]

  • Is everyone digging in to wait for their $50 code?

    I am…. I won’t go ahead without it because it means I have to pay $709 instead of $659 for an S21+… a big psychological jump to me. That’s including the $60 admin fee.

    • my came after 12 hours

      • It has been over 12 hours for me on 4 different email addresses. Even asked the chat agent to expedite for me. If it’s a manual process, then it would be Monday at least.

        • I'm not sure if this had an impact, but as soon as I signed up for newsletter, i emailed them straight away asking for it

          [email protected]

          haha

  • Just loaded up the discount but it doesn't seem right

    It comes down to $324 with S10e trade in discount of $75

    However, total cost will be $324+$75+$60 admin fee, so total is $459

    • That sounds about right for the S20 128GB model :)

    • You got it right

      • yeh cool, I was reading other peoples orders but they didn't take into account the $60 admin fee

        • Did you buy it??

          • @trueamity: yup ordered, can't wait

            Order Complete!
            An email acknowledgement with your order details and instructions on how to send back your old device will be sent shortly to: [email protected]
            Track your order in My Account

            • @Homr: What color did you get? I want phantom grey but OOS.

              • @BinnyC: Phantom Violet hehe

                I was deciding between that or the White

                It doesn't really matter because it will be covered with a case. My S10e is green but I never get to admire it

  • Anyone know what will happen if you cancel your credit card before they charge you?

    • Debt collection

      • for $135? really?

        • Plus interest lol

          Good job on scoring your phone though :)

          • +1

            @Bafranz: Thanks, never thought I'll be upgrading so early.

            I went from S6 -> S10e -> S21

            I was expecting to keep my S10e for another 2-3years

            • @Homr: Yeah, I reckon. I'm upgrading from an S10e to an S21 5G 128GB too. I'm just waiting for the icing on the cake, the $50 newsletter signup voucher.

              • @Catbert: how long have you been waiting for the $50 for?

                You should email them [email protected]

                • @Homr: I did that last night after reading your post :)
                  Then I read that they operate during weekday business hours. I'll see how I go today

    • The debt collector will knock on your door and make you pay….

      right to jail

  • can anyone confirm you need to own a phone on the list to get the trade in code?

    • You can use your brothers or sisters phone if you want, but the trade-in app will require you to enter in Credit Card details

    • Yes, without eligible phone,you cant get trade in discount

  • +1

    Only add your credit card number in trade-up app if you are really planning to buy. I was checking just the final price and by mistake added a wrong trade-id that turned out to be valid worth $150 for galaxy note 10 phone. I don't intend to buy with it but if I do, that person will be charged $150+60 admin for not returning the phone and I am pretty sure there will long back and forth emails/customer care call and trouble for that person.

    In short it's not secure at all and anyone can use anyone's code and not everyone is considerate about others.

  • +2

    I'm reading the T&C and found that if you failed to return the phone, they will charge a Device Non-Return Fee and a
    Device Non-Return Administration Fee (Clause 5.6(a)).

    However, if you send in an In-eligible Device, You may be charged an In-eligible Device Fee. (Clause 5.6(b)).

    In-eligible Device is an Existing Device that:
    (a) is not an Eligible Device;
    (b) is not a Good Working Order Device or an Acceptable Damaged Device;
    (c) does not have all activation and device locking features disabled (eg, Find My iPhone, Google
    account locks and Samsung account locks).
    (d) is AMTA blocked;
    (e) is beyond economic repair (including where it has liquid damage or catastrophic damage);
    (f) contains non genuine parts;
    (g) has missing parts;
    (h) has an operating system bypass (eg. jailbroken);
    (i) cannot power up;
    (j) does not have clear chain of ownership; and/or
    (k) is an Incorrect Device.
    Incorrect Device is a device that does not contain the same IMEI as the device that You assessed for
    trade-in using the Samsung Trade-Up App.

    So, to avoid paying the $60 Device Non-Return Administration Fee, just return an incorrect device!

    What's more, Clause 6.2 (b) state that "Upon payment of Your In-eligible Device Fee, Your In-eligible Device will be returned to You."

    Found a new use for my old Nokia 8210 that I am still keeping for no real reason.

    • How much is ineligible device fee?

      • yeah how much is this fee?

      • nvm, found it.

        In-eligible Device Fee means a fee which is equal to the amount of the discount You received when Your unique Trade ID was applied at the point of sale when You purchased Your New Samsung Device Online in accordance with clause 5.2 of these Terms and Conditions.

        So if you return some old shitty phone, you are charged the trade-up discount and once you pay, they send it back to you as well :D Much better than paying $60 admin fee

        • Yes, In-eligible Device Fee and Device Non-Return Fee are the same amount as the discount You received when Your unique Trade ID was applied at the point of sale.

          I expect they will soon update the T&C to add an In-eligible Device Administration Fee. I reckon the amount of costs to them in handling the in-eligible device should be higher than the case when you do not return the device.

          • @vchung916: But wouldn't they still charge the non-return fee if you still don't send back the correct device after they send you back the incorrect device?

            • @MiscOzB: nope, they can't as at that point, they would have charged your trade-up discount before sending that phone back to you.

    • +1

      One day that Nokia could be a collectable worth zillions.

    • This is gold..might give it a go.

    • So sneaky and clever at the same time. I will consider it.

    • So I can send my broken s7 and then they will only charge me the trade in value plus return the broken phone?
      That would be sweet!!!

    • Any chance they would preclude us from the program hahaha ?

      We may preclude You from participating in the Program if at any time We reasonably believe that: (a) You are using the Program (whether intentionally or not) in a way that may adversely impact the reputation of Asurion or Samsung;

      You are using the Program in a manner which is, or is reasonably believed to be fraudulent, illegal or related to any criminal activity or intended to make a commercial gain; (b)

      (c) You have breached these Terms and Conditions; or You have provided Us with incorrect, false or incomplete information.

    Bought for $270 (+130 +60 admin fee for not returning phone). Got the chat discount and newsletter discount.

    good price, thanks Ozbargain: so many sneaky angles on things.

    • Yeh, I would never have found out this non return device trick

      • And now there is a return in-eligible device trick which is $60 better than the non return device trick.

        • No one has confirmed that worked to avoid the $60 admin fee.

          • @Homr: True, but if they did something else, they would breach the T&C, which means that they breached the contract. You can even sue them in court.

    • How long did it take for the newsletter discount to come through?

      • I waited a day then emailed them saying I'd signed up but got no code. They replied with code within a couple of hours. [email protected]

  • So if I use the trade up app and enter my credit card I get a code. If I don’t proceed with finalising the purchase do I get charged $60?

    • No unless you use the code.

  • +2

    I heard people mentioning EDS and ODS codes? What's the difference?

  • I am getting $590($500 offer + $90 trade in value) discount when adding Trade ID.

    according to their T&C, it says "Device Non-Return Fee means a fee which is equal to the amount of the discount You received when
    Your unique Trade ID was applied at the point of sale when You purchased Your New Samsung Device
    Online"

    Does it mean I have to pay $590 if I decide not to send the old device?
