    • What phone did you use to trade in?

      • The S9 I mentioned, not going to send it in though.

        • Would it be more value picking the least expensive phone to trade in but not actually sending it? That way you being paying less of the difference?

  • +1

I connected to live chat yesterday evening. I stated that my galaxy note10 was damaged and i was looking to upgrade to a S21. I mentioned that a friend had received a discount bonus towards a new phone from samsung. They asked me for my email address and then said they could supply me with a loyalty code for $100. Which they did provide. They asked me to confirm my email and i assume the code is linked to the email. Took an hour of try to get through the chat. No joy with the newsletter, multiple emails used but with no success.

    • I'm on chat with agent, who said" the $50 voucher code is sent to the registered email 48 hours after signing up."

      • chat agents can't help with the $50 code

        • Yes agent said the same to me. She requested $50 code again but heard nothing yet

    • Took me using the mrs gmail to get the promo code, came about an hour later. Seems to be much like the chat, depends on your luck.

  • Is there any trick to get both the $50 and $100 coupons to stack? My $50 coupon won't apply (presumably due to the $350 minimum), but there are numerous people successfully buying with totals less than $350.

    • try different browser - worked for me

      • Thanks, no luck though.

        • The agent i spoke to told me even though i didn't ask last night that i couldn't stack the $50 and $100 but like you am waiting for $50 code before i buy

    • my total was less than $350 and the codes stacked for me. I had to refresh the page as it wasn't working for me. Refreshing keeps all your details etc.

      • Can you share the breakdown?
The code could be there but it doesn't deduct the total.
Your total is less than $350 could be due to your trade-in value is high.
        I bought a S21: it's 1049 - 500(bonus) - 100(chat code) - $180(trade in value) = $269
I entered the newsletter code, but it does not deduct $269 to $219

I won't return my old phone, so I'll be charged $180 +$60, the new phone costs $509

        • Mine was exactly the same. I traded in my old S20 128GB that came to $180 value. I won't be sending it back as I can easily sell it for $500 and even taking into account $60 admin fee, I would still come ahead.

I was able to stack $100 chat code, $50 signup code and the rest was trade-in and Samsung discounts. It didn't work for me at first but then I refreshed the page, tried again and it worked.

          Hope this helps.

        • my total was $4 short of $350 (after the $100 code) so I just added a $15 USB C cable to the cart and it was able to apply the $50 code.

  • can you stack two $100 voucher codes if you manage to get two?

    • I don't think so but if it works do tell us.

      • No it doesnt work, I had 3 of them and didnt let me stack

        • Do you still have a spare chat code? I've been waiting for 1.5 hours in the live chat.

          • @Bob Lou: I finally got one after sending this msg.

        • Hey there, how did you get 3 spare codes?

    • Ciao do you have a spare code?

  • I have an s10e that has a cracked screen, just a little down the bottom corner when I dropped it. It puts the trade in value to $0 , does that mean I cant receive the trade in bonus?
Still not sure if I should trade it in as I use the headphones every day and my ear cant seem to hold the wireless Jabra buds inside

  • +2

Save waiting for the pop up you can go here to request the $50 Voucher https://shop.samsung.com/au/sign-up also it says if you havent received the voucher you can email [email protected] to chase up

  • Has anyone not return their phone and sell it elsewhere instead?

  • Anyone get a "card validation failed" via the tradeup app?

    • yeah I keep getting this since lunch time. did u find solution yet? have tried to uninstall the app and start over or try different cards, still failed for that error :(

      • Yep. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled after a reboot. The first time is failed, second time fine. Weird

        • ok, will retry again :(

  • dayum my s7 edge isn't on the trade up list :(

  • took a long time but i managed to get a $200 loyalty code off chat. Ended up paying $49 for the S21+ 256gb with trade in credit of 550 for my old phone which i wont be sending back in. so i should be charged the 550+70 for not sending the device back in ?

    • How did you manage to get $200 code?

      • i did mention to them i already had a s21 range phone with damage which i had to email photos of the device through

        • I have an s21 100% fine. Now how do i fake damage to show them on email but still be eligible for trade in. Any suggestions?

      • i confirmed its dependant on the phone thats having the issue, can confirm if you have a s21+ or s21 ultra they will give you a $200 coupon.

    • Great! How many codes can you stack together?

      • only stacked the $200 loyalty bonus and $50 newsletter

    • are you planning to return your old device?

      • nope, i plan on keeping it.

        • Do you know how long until they actually charge you for not returning?

          • @itos: last time i did it was about 2-3weeks after i recieved the new phone.

            • @david6509: Alright, thanks! would it be a problem if then you try to sell the phone elsewhere?

            • @david6509: Did they send you an email to say they are charging you or did they just charged your credit card without letting you know?

              • +1

@jaj024: yes i got a couple emails saying to send back the device or i would be charged.

  • +1

This is so ridiculous been trying to get onto their chat all damn day. If anyone has a spare chat code I would be eternally grateful.

    • same here.. tried about 15 times in the last 3 hours. still not been able to catch hold of any agent..

  • Still getting the "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment".

Tried different browsers, different code etc all doesn't work.

Yes have confirmed credit card details are entered in the app too.

Any one had success getting through the trade-up code?

    • Download the trade up app onto the phone you want to trade and do it that way.

      • +1

Is this by clicking on the trade up button on the app? By clicking it, it then opens up the website which ends up having the same error when I try to put in the code.

Is there another way to make this work via the app?

    • I am in the same boat, same error. It did work at the first go but the browser crashed and since then I am getting this error. I tried creating new trade-in id code but still no luck. Sent an email to samsung team to rectify and check. Don't want to miss out on this one.

      • Did you figure it out?can you plz help as I have same issue.

  • trade-in completed! Thanks, OP.
ended up with payting $659 trading my old S8 plus for S21 256G, plus $100 + $50 voucher code. this is the best deal this year.

  • I purchased the phone and got the confirmation. However, I did not receive any emails on how to send them the traded phone. Will they send an email on how to send them the traded phone after we have received our order?

    • The email will be sent to you after the phone has been delivered with instructions to send your tradein phone back

For $50 newsletter code I used gmail and other one, only received at non-gmail(also non-Samsung) address in about 2-3 hours.

  • I finally got through to chat after trying for 6 hours and the code they gave me is invalid. Do I just enter it as a promo code?

    • Yes, as promo code.

    • After copy pasting make sure the spacing is correct. Mine was showing invalid and editing the spacing fixed it for me.
      It should be like this:
      XXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

  • does anyone know why I can't find the asurion trade-up app on my s8? Weird that I search it on my other phone and find it but can't see it on the s8.

Got the ultra for $859 (trade in s8+, newsletter, chat code)

    • signed up to protonmail, still waiting haha

  • I ordered last evening and money had been taken out. Order status hasn't been updated regardless received tax invoice. Anyone got their order updated? Thanks

    • I ordered late last night the ultra 256gb and order status is now Preparing Dispatch. Been like that since the morning.

  • thanks op!
was able to trade in my s20+, stacked with newsletter and chat codes - paid $359

    • Which phone $359 is super cheap. How much is s20+ trade in value? Thanks

  • Lol admin fee of $60 for what? If ppl are not sending their phones, what is the admin fee for.

It was not there before and they just want to skim it now as easy cash collection.

Who knows next sales wl have admin fee incresed too.

  • I just used the trade-up app with no mention of the $60 admin fee. It was $90 if you don't send the phone $90 if it fails inspection $90 if not as described.

    • they have updated there terms and conditions recently
look at sections 5.6a and top page 6

      https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/assets/au/terms/trade-up/samsung-online-trade-up-terms-030821.pdf?$ORIGIN_PDF$

  • I'm getting frustrated now. The $50 code in not coming I have tried with 4 emails since 10pm last night.

  • Anyone have a $50 code they can message me? Thanks!

  • Has anyone going past this error?
"Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment"

i am getting this msg since last night.
need to know, how come many ozbargainers are able to buy ?

    • Put credit card in trade up app yet?

      • does it mean that i need to go through mobile only??
i am trying on computer… Please guide.

        • You have to download the trade up app on your phone that you want to trade, if the phone pass the test you have to put your credit card in before generate the trade code, don't use the trade in store to get the code it will not work online.

  • +1

anyone still waiting for the $50 code, after numerous tries, I signed up for a protonmail and got it in around 30mins, worth a try if you are wanting one.

  • Does anyone here have a list of phones that is eligible for tradein

    • Just type that in from the site, it will tell you.

      • what site?

        • This Samsung trade in site.

          • @superforever: Got it thanks

          • @superforever: Do you know what the cheapest phone to trade in?

            • @Homr: No idea, last time I trade Samsung S7, no longer accept now. May be S8 or iPhone 7?

  • +4

    For those interested I traded an S9 64gb for a S21 128gb for $369.

    Starting price - $1249
    Samsung $200 RRP discount - $1049
Old device trade in $500 discount - $549
Promo code of $100 from chat - $449
    Newsletter signup code of $50 - $399
    Value of old phone $30 - $369
Final price paid = $369 with free shipping.

For that price will probably keep the S9, take the $30 hit, and pass it on to a family member. I got an S7 I could flog that would make that $30 back!

Also took about 1.5 hours for the newsletter signup code to come through.
For the chat code, I just asked for it. Said I wanted to buy an S21 as part of an upgrade. No other questions asked or info requested.

    • $90 hit

$30 + $60 for not sending the phone

      • Yes, saw that after the original post when someone posted the full T&C doc from Asurion. Got a few days to think about keeping it.

  • Has anyone confirmed what fee Asurion is going to charge? They collect all the information including credit card details and if they don't receive the phone, can they charge the trade up bonus amount too?
Can they damage your credit history if there is fee you need to pay for bonus offer too if we refuse to pay?

    • So far from last deals nobody got charge back the bonus amount, may be that is why this time they have admin fee $60

      • where did you see this $60 admin fee?

        • Check this thread a lot talk about it.

        • they have updated there terms and conditions recently
look at sections 5.6a and top page 6

          https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/assets/au/terms/trade-up/samsung-online-trade-up-terms-030821.pdf?$ORIGIN_PDF$

      • @superforever how long ago was the deal? So long someone clarified and confirmed about the charge/fee. Asurion is a third party and separate from Samsung and Samsung will simply say they have nothing to do with debt collection if one is considered defaulting by not sending device as per agreement, a binding contract.

        • Search ozbargain this trade in deal happened several times.
