Received Unwarranted Pamphlet with Amazon Order

Similar to this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/650835

I received my $10 echo dot 3 order from amazon. I opened the box and there was an additional pamphlet inside that looks like its from the federal government telling me to get vaccinated.

Maybe the trend of online shopping is that advertisers pay the company to slip in some ads but this was unexpected and the 1st time i seen this from amazon.

Has anyone else got this from their Amazon? Does amazon somehow know people's Vaccination status? This is quite scary.

Now people might say getting vaccinated is positive so its not an issue, but that isn't the point since whether the content is positive or negative is based on someone's view/opinion. E.g. a neo-nazi can add a anti-semitic pamphlet or a muslim can add a islam pamphlet. Although they accept the content doesn't mean it is appropriate.

Should i complain with amazon? Anyone else has this experience?

You should contact Amazons Special Karen support… it's for Karen's like you that want to talk directly to the manager.

Seen some dumb posts and this is certainly in the top few

I also got the pamphlet, but threw it away since I already got the vaccination. Simples.

    • Simples.

Quicker to write a post on OzBargain about how shocked, disgusted, enraged you are and asking the community whether they should complain to Amazon.

Because you know, this type of reaction and behaviour is totally warranted and normal. This Karen and looney behaviour wasn't as obvious prior to the pandemic as what is being witnessed regularly in Australia these days.

…think about how many unwarranted particles you breathe in per day, and how few it would take to catch covid and ruin your lungs for the rest of your life. Not from some stranger, but more likely a loved one.

and why the profanity would someone who's paranoid about privacy buy an echo dot!??!?

I'm done, people like this don't deserve a vaccine..

I wish I could down vote forum posts.

I wish there was a deal for brain cells. OP could use a few.

    E.g. a neo-nazi can add a anti-semitic pamphlet or a muslim can add a islam pamphlet

can we drill down into why these were the two examples you wanted us to pearl-clutch over?

  • I got the same. Who cares. Stop being so (profanity) sensitive.

I doubt OP is serious (probably making this post as a troll or because they saw the manna beans one) but the reason this one is okay (and unwarranted religious pamphlets aren't) is because this is not a matter of opinion, it's a scientific truth. To compare a government PSA encouraging vaccines to improve the health and safety of its citizens to a religious or nazi pamphlet is nothing but idiotic. Again, this isn't a matter of opinion, it's a matter of objective truth and you are trying to compare it to actual opinions such as religion and political ideologies. If I am not mistaken what you have done here is a type of logical fallacy called false equivalence.

      • +6

        lmao anti-vax, that explains it
i know it's scientific truth because that's what all the scientists say, unlike your piss-poor religious/ideological comparison (false equivalence)

          • +7

@Chchnu: Nonsense. Those are "doctors and scientists". Thats all fake shit.

Those "doctors and scientists" , if they were real, would write their own peer reviewed papers on the topic. Which they havent.

          • +5

@Chchnu: I do know that there are anti-vax doctors. I also know they're either disingenuous and doing it for the money or they're stupid, which is something you clearly aren't aware of. The website you linked is so bad that I genuinely can't be sure if you are trolling or not. It's full of scams in the comments, religious nonsense and anti-vax shit.

Have you personally taken a vial of vaccine to a lab and had the medical knowledge to understand it?

        • -5

I havn't. Thats why I'm not going around claiming i know the truth like the person i replied to.

          • +11

@Chchnu: Well then dont worry about it.

Leave it to the scientists, like myself.

You have no idea how incredibly stringent the medical / scientific world is.

Find me a single peer - reviewed study. Just 1.

The very notion of a conspiracy like this is astounding.

Our governments in this world can hardly agree who to buy Submarines from, even if the conspiracies had medical or scientific credit - which they absolutely don't - they absolutely are not capable of implementing it.

If you ask me, the real conspiracy is china using social media to con conspiracy prone westerners into NOT taking the vaccine, so the west will be crippled economically for longer whilst china booms because their pop actually got vaccinated.

Bet your conspiracy tubes haven't floated that one by you, huh? Stop and think, if you can please.

            Thanks.

I reckon in 20 yrs when they are available the Chinese will have underwater drone technology that will sink em in 5 secs . Meaning you need to buy modern weapons that are protected from future likely technology counters . But that is too complicated for Scomo .

I got it - and other discount cards / vouchers / brochures in a recent order… get stuff in them all the time. Couldn't care less - they just go in the bin.

I'd be more annoyed at the fact our tax $$$ are going towards these stupid brochures than the fact they're including them in orders. In what stupid world is someone going to open their Amazon order, find that brochure, and think "wow, I must book in right now - I can't believe I never thought of booking a vaccination before this". If you're too stupid to go get vaccinated, then you deserve whatever you catch. If you need an advertising campaign to make you get the jab, you've got bigger issues to worry about.

  • just put it in the bin if not happy about it. but Go out get your shot we go back to life before not wash our hands, eat off the floor, lick random objects. buy a cheap travel deal to japan on ozbargain so lick random objects in japan.

I'm more concerned about you equating a public health pamphlet with hate speech examples…

  • It's in EVERY packet of my amazon delivery lol

Isn't it funny how everyone was attacking the Christian pamphlet but not the covidian Vax cult pamphlet

    • +2

i guess the pamphlet didn't say you will die a agonising death with a tube down your throat if you didn't get vaccinated. even if this may actually be true as opposed to burning in hell

    • +3

Only difference being the Christian one was pushing their religion on people who aren't interested and this one is trying to save you and your communities lives. Grow up.

    • What on Earth can a "covidian Vax cult" be?

There is nothing in any normal dictionary used by normal people, and I can't find that particular rabbit hole to go down and try to understand it.

I have found a couple of "Covidian Cult" sites with completely nutso conspiracy theories authored by complete whackos, but that's it.

      Please elucidate.

There are two types of cultists. The first just enjoys telling other people how to live their lives. The second constantly rubs their hands together in anticipation of the money they will be making from the first.

  • I recently received my 10$ Echo dot and did not receive any pamphlet with my order.

  • +5

Fully vaccinated and got three of these pamphlets from Amazon orders, they are putting them in with everything because people like the OP are stupid and won't get vaccinated.

If you don't like it, throw it in the bin and move on, you got the tin foil you ordered from amazon to make your hat in the delivery as well.

  • +4

Getting vaccinated is not political, dangerous or anyone's personal opinion. It is the responsibility of everyone in the country as it has been for every other vaccine we have taken and given to our children for a hundred years now.

    • -1

People die from vaccines, including from the current crop. The idea that it's not dangerous is blatantly false.

      • +1

People can have reactions to anything. By your definition, everything in the world that people consume is dangerous then.

        • -2

Again, false. Anything? No. It's also not what I said. You said vaccines are not dangerous. That is factually incorrect. You then try to broaden my factual statement that vaccines cause death, death is obviously dangerous, and try to move the goal posts and claim I said something that I didn't.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe you think this is an issue.

  • I really do not understand posts like this.
The mental and physical weakness described by these people scares me. It is frightening to see people going through such a tough time that they are afraid of a public health pamphlet or breathing through a mask.

We really need to do whatever we can to help these weak people going through mental and physical turmoil to get through such a tough time.
As someone who has severe asthma and difficulty breathing regularly, the thought of having such bad compromise of my lungs that I could not breathe through a mask is frightening. When I have an asthma attack and cannot breath it can be scary trying to find that puffer, I cannot imagine having to go through that just to go to the shops. Luckily a real illness like asthma doesn't hit as hard as hypochondria which is one of the most debilitating problems you can experience.

So please give these mentally ill hypochondriacs help where you can. These times are tough and these people have it tougher than anyone else.

  • I got the same thing today and I'm vaccinated. Don't worry, just a shotgun approach by the gov trying to fix the current state of things.

    • -1

      Unfortunately can't fix stupid.

  • Send the pamphlet back to the federal government telling them to stop wasting tax payer's money. It will be about as effective as the pamphlet in convincing people to get vaccinated.
