    Good price.
The 22 Sep Surface Event doesn't seem to include a Surface Laptop Go sequel though?

At this stage I would wait and see, but you'll be paying more for the new model obviously.

I'm hoping for a Surface Pro 8 and Surface Go 3 bundle.

surface go will be good if it had HDMI port and 16gb ram

    • No Surface Laptop will have a HDMI port. Use USB-C or a hub.

      • What do you recommend for a slim laptop with HDMI or DP?

        • I don't know; you'll have to do your own research on that one. I have a Surface Laptop 3 and just use a hub.

          • @kerfuffle: How many external monitors can you connect at once?

            • @Homr: I only have one but I would daisy-chain the second one to the first one had I have two external monitors.

How is this different from the Surface Laptop?

    • +8

Crappier and smaller screen, no backlit keyboard, not all-metal construction (I think the bottom is plastic)

    • Wait for the black Friday deals on Surface Laptop instead. I've had one for over 3 years, waiting for an upgrade. Great laptops.

  • What the downside of the 'Go' version (other than build)?

Read the above comment that I made.

Only if the price is competitive with the Duo

The Duo is a different product?

    • Lol wtf? The Duo is a phone…

Would be worth trying to get the Microsoft Store to do a price match and take advantage of their trade in program that's being offered: https://msaustralia.cexchange.com/online/home/index.rails

I picked up the Surface Laptop Go a few weeks back for $798 and was surprised to get my iPad 3 Cellular valued at $438, impressive for a 9 year old device, YMMV.

Will try to use their 60 day price promise now to get the difference back.

    • How accurate was their online appraisal compared to finalised trade in Value once they had reviewed it? It Values my MacBook Pro 2015 at $1,258. That’s more than apples online estimator.

      • For me it was spot on and matched the online estimate, so was quite chuffed to get that much for such an old device.

        • That’s awesome, Glad this is an actual option, thanks!

    • Not sure if that’s how it works on the Microsoft store.

      “ 60-day low price promise
If you buy a Surface from us and our price drops within 60 days of your purchase, we’ll refund the difference [1]”

    • something is not right given Ipad Air only get $60…

    • Wondering if i should trade in my macbook pro 2015 for this device for the portablility when lockdown ends. Also cause my macbook is starting to feel really slow.

    • I want to believe these amounts are correct, however I cannot see how they will actually give me $430 for an old Ipad 2, that cannot make sense or be feasible in any way.

    • There is a question when I try to calculate a item

"Have you purchased an Xbox Series S since July 23, 2021?"

If I say yes they pay 150 for a 3ds if I say no they pay 50…why?

picked up the Surface Laptop Go a few weeks back for $798. Call jb and they will give you a link for free shipping.
You are expected to get about 8 hours battery life but YMMV. Even though it's i5 I believe the GPU is weaker than the standard surface laptop so only for light gaming.

I got given the lower spec model (4GB RAM, 64GB SSD), and the one thing to understand with these Surface devices is that the screen, keyboard, cameras and microphones are awesome.

Yes, it's (obvioulsy) underpowered, no it's definitely not a gaming device - but don't underestimate how important the thing you look at, the thing you type on, and the ability for others to see and hear you are to the whole experience. I had pretty low expectations before I got it, but I was really impressed.

So this has a purpose (secondary device, awesome for Zoom/WebEx/Teams calling) - it has a USB-C port which can charge while being used for display / data etc, a single USB 3 port, and then the proprietary surface connector on the opposite side if you have one of the (super expensive) Surface docks.

At home I have a Dell D6000 USB-C hub/docking station which charged the laptop as well as providing ethernet / USB / HDMI to my 34" Xiaomi ultrawide and it works great with Windows 11 extended across the 3440 x 2560 on the main screen as well as the 3:2 laptop screen.

[Disclosure] - I got this free from my employer

  • Good deal but crap display. Beware when buying.

I picked one up today and have fallen in love with it!

1.1 kg! This is the future of computing.

The thing is super responsive. Lots of things open and downloads at the same time, no issues at all.

The screen is great too. Remember this is a 12.45 inch screen, which I should add was bigger than I expected - must be due to the 3:2 ratio.

    100% would buy again.

  • Would this be powerful enough to prescribed my coding and lightly edit videos?

    • +1

Yes, though 16GB RAM would be better.

  • Anyone upgrade the SSD?
