On sale is a good budget gaming laptop packed with features. This is the new ASUS TUF 2021 model and has fixed the cooling issues present in the ASUS TUF 2020 model. This YouTube video (turn English subtitles on) provides a good indepth review of the laptop, as well as a comparison with the old model.

Features include an NVIDIA RTX 3050 4GB GPU, 15.6" 1920x1080 144Hz IPS display, 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 RAM (2 slots), 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD with extra M.2 NVME slot, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, Ethernet, USB-C Gen 2, 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.0b, 3.5mm Audio, Windows 10 Home, RGB Keyboard with Numpad and a 48WHr 3 cell battery.

This is a good alternative to the Dell G15 5515 currently on sale. A quick comparison is that the ASUS offers double the RAM, double the storage and a 144Hz display (120Hz in Dell). The Dell has the Ryzen 5 5600H (6c/12t), while the ASUS has the Ryzen 7 4800H (8c/16t) CPU. Single core is better in the 5600H and multicore is better in the 4800H. In terms of gaming there's not much difference between the two, but the ASUS will benefit more from the dual rank 16GB RAM.

Thank you for posting, but would you not be better off paying extra $100 and getting this?.

The hard part with PCs is having to decide where to cut off the "just $100 more for ___". There's always an incremental increase available for just a bit more

    • Why the heck is a Guild Wars 2 watermark in the first picture?

      • There's a free GW2 promotion with certain laptops going on. It might be eligible for it

    • Dell has horrible delivery time for these on sales products. You need to wait for at least 1 month for what you buy.

For those playing at home, a 3060 with 6gb of RAM is significantly better than the 3050.

I'm currently playing at work but yeah sure

Vouch for this. The performance difference is at least around 75%. Huge gap between the two. If you want a gaming laptop and want an entry 30xx series GPU, get 3060 and above.

For that sort of money, I'd like a 3060 in a chassis please. Graphics card with their watt decides the performance of a game. 3050 as based on reviews is somewhere between a 1650 and 1650ti. The acer nitro 5 with RTX3060 (95w) has been as cheap as $1279.00 here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/642822. Usually a refurbished model surfaces on acer's website. IMO, Acer nitro 5 is the best value for the money or best cost price per FPS on a gaming laptop

    • Though you do get more CUDA cores and DLSS with the 3050 😉

    Any deals on Razer Blade?

  • Didn't realise the 3050 isn't as good as the 1660ti
3060 should probably be the min.

  • What's the point of 144hz screens when the graphics card or CPU wouldn't be strong enough anyway lol

    • At 1080p? Easy if you don't run it at Ultra.
