[SUBS] Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, Disney’s Jungle Cruise (and More) Added to Disney+

3684

Disney+ Day will feature content premieres from all of the marquee brands on service, including:

  • The streaming premiere of Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings
  • The beloved Disney family-friendly adventure film Jungle Cruise, available to all subscribers

Personally liked Shang-Chi, and that's pretty quick for it to be added to a streaming service

yes can't wait to see Shang Chi

  • +19

I cant watch shang-chi with lock down

    I'm jealous lol

    • +27

Yet another reason to be annoyed at Slomo and Gladys.

        • +2

Yeah, and people love to shit on Gladys, Dan cant do no wrong

        • +3

Why does this comment get the down vote but Gladys and slomo get the upvotes

          • +8

@hippyhippy: These people are doing the best they can in a shitty situation imo.

            • +23

@[Deactivated]: Right now they probably are but people are more annoyed about how it started: Gladys coin flipped it and lost and Scomo was a little slow with the vaccines.

              • +15

@BROKENKEYBOARD: They've got people one side saying lock it down and people the other rioting, I'm just sat in the middle with two vaccines and no life *twiddles thumbs

                • -8

                  @[Deactivated]: Open it up.
Keep health precautions. The lockfown has done nothing to ease the spread so why are people so thick headed?

              • +20

@BROKENKEYBOARD: A little slow? His government was offered millions of Pzier doses and they didn't bother even rocking up to the meeting…a little more than a little slow

              • @BROKENKEYBOARD:

                a little slow

Eight months is a little slow? GTFO.

              • @shegeloaf: I guess their perspecitve of keeping people alive is wrong?

                • -1

@firecaller: You can keep people alive and still minimise Losses in income and Jobs.

No one is thinking of alternatives just enforcing hitler like curfews and quoting 'keeping people alive'.

                  • +2

@shegeloaf: We're going to open up soon and lots of people are expected to die. You'll get your wish.

                  • @shegeloaf: Everyone says this but never offers any "better alternatives". Alrighty then, have at it buddy. What would YOU have done better to fix all this mess?

          • +17

@hippyhippy: Cause #KoalaKiller didn't lockdown until it was well and truly too late. And they starting to reopen even though don't have it under control. And Scotty from Marketing just outright sucks

          • @hippyhippy: stockholm syndrome

          • @hippyhippy: Who the (profanity) would upvote anything to do with ScoMo, Gladys, or that pig Barilaro? It's like the three little piggies of corruption.

        • +3

The hardest part of Chairman Dan's seven day lockdowns are the first nine weeks.

      • +2

anyways mr saitama are you stronger than Shang-chi?

      • -2

        You forgot Dan as well

        • +24

Sure, Dan has made a few missteps but he's had the decency to front the media and answer every question without running off. He hasn't been catty like Gladys and he doesn't have the support of the Murdoch empire.

        • +11

he stood firm with WA and QLD premiers with quick and fast lock downs which has proven to work. when slomo and hubris lady tried to infect Australia with the NSW plague ship by skynews shilling the message "Delta cannot be stopped".

i'm glad WA, QLD has stood firm and their population experiencing full FREEDOM. they are still going after QLD which is a absolute disgrace putting lives and business at risk so hubris lady can prove she's right by not locking down fast and hard.

          • -1

@Creamsoda: How is that hard and fast lockdown working in Victoria right now. It was locked down at a handful of cases and today has just added 766 cases, the highest daily caseload for VIC since the pandemic started.

No matter how fast the lockdowns happened, it didn't work for delta in any state.

            • +3

@bigbadwolf21: Qld has entered the chat…

            • +2

@bigbadwolf21: So it'd be a lot worse if there was no lockdown…

            • +4

@bigbadwolf21: Actually due to the sharp lockdown, we have way less hospital admissions and deaths than NSW did with the same amount of cases. Likely because we had time to get vaccinations up before the numbers started taking off.

            • +2

              @bigbadwolf21:

No matter how fast the lockdowns happened, it didn't work for delta in any state.

              WA has entered the chat…

          • @Creamsoda: Yep. I went to watch the Wallabies beat the Springboks last weekend along with 38 thousand others, followed by a bonus All Blacks/ Argentina game. Lots of fun, most people doing the right thing with masks and stuff, and being able to be free and enjoying themselves; Pubs and streets full afterwards in a carnival atmosphere. All because we have a decent State government that stood up for us and did the right thing based on science, not politics and shilling for wealthy interests.

    • you can, it's called streaming.

      • But not yet

        • on certain questionable apk's

  • +9

I really wanted to see Shangh-chi in imax or something. Shame we'll have to settle for November then!

    • Middle of October if you're willing to pay for it

Edit: actually the 'streaming premiere' does seem like it wont be available on premier access before this. They originally said it was going to D+ 45 days after release.

  • +2
    • +1

      Cheers, link changed :)

  • +4

I wonder why they didn't opt for Shang-Chi to go on Disney Premier first.

    • +3

Because after 45 days people would not be buying it.

    • +11

Can't recall where I saw/heard it, but I think something to do with Scarlet Johansson's law suit about how she lost money when Black Widow was released simultaneously in cinemas and on Disney Plus?

    • +4

The streaming premiere of Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings
The beloved Disney family-friendly adventure film Jungle Cruise, available to all subscribers

Maybe my English is bad, but this doesn't equal free for Disney+ subscribers for Shang Chi, I read this as Shang Chi is going to Disney Premier (streaming premiere)

      • +9

It seems as though because this was released in cinemas, it'll skip through Disney Premier:

        • Movies like Black Widow and Jungle Cruise premiered with Premier Access. But now, that might be limited thanks to Shang-Chi’s success at the box office. That being said, the movie will still come to Disney+ to stream. It will skip being offered for an additional fee, and you’ll be able to watch the movie for free if you have a subscription to Disney+

        Source.

    • +5

Shang Chi is getting good legs in theatres in most countries, so they're trying to not take away from that revenue stream too much, especially when they're trying to foster a theatrical environment for their several other releases for the remainder of the year.

      • +8

        Giant slap to ScarJo.

        • +1

Hope she takes them to the cleaners. She was EP on Black Widow, right?

          • +1

@doublehelix95: Isn't it being arbitrated outside of court? I kind of hoped it would be a public event to show how dirty Disney did her.

            • +1

@Munki: Scarlett being done dirty? Now where can I stream that??

            • @Munki: Aww, I didn't know that. I wanted the courts to punish the Mouse publicly.

    • +1

I think they have contractual obligation with people involved in the film and/or cinemas. (I think it might be cinemas)

There was something in the new a while ago about Scarlett Johansson suing disney for lost earnings from the Black Widow movie because it went to streaming to soon and hear earnings were tied with box office sales.

      • +8

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of Scarlett, personally, but it was fair for her to take on Disney since they were the ones breaching the contract. Now they want to make out that she's being a spoilt brat and (from what i understand) punishing her by writing her out of future movies.

Also sad that so many people believe that she's being brat and Disney will just be emboldened to screw around with less influential artists and employees. Disney gets away with a crime and she gets the blame.

        • +4

She's finished with MCU anyway, so that's why she's gone ahead with the lawsuit.

  • +13

Where’s the deal exactly? Are they offering a membership discount or something?

    • +4

I thinks it’s free in Disney plus rather than pay per view in Disney plus.

    • +6

It's a questionable post imo as it's just a movie released on VoD after a cinema run. Not like we're having posts for each movie release on Netflix/Prime.

      • +2

OP is just jumping on the bandwagon like the Black Widow “deal”

  • +1

Not quite as quick as the rumours suggested, but looking forward to seeing this still 🙂

  • +2

just about time for the price increase is kicking in for annual subscribers.

  • Does anyone know when Shang Chi is coming in Apple iTunes or Google movies?

  • +4

    too bad cinemas ain't open.
I want to watch the big movies there

  • +1

    Yesss

    • +1

      Sorry for ruining someone’s day

      • It's too late to apologise.

  • I live Melb and want to watch in cinema… sigh I guess I’ll have to stream..

    • We open back up before Nov 12 anyway - you could still catch it in theatres

    • Good news we are open up next Friday !!!

  • +2

Solid movie, watched in cinemas ;)

    • +11

      What is a cinema?

      • +8

Ask your local elder about the before times

  • This reads as if Shang Chi will be available at an extra cost on that day (Premier Access), as opposed to part of the base sub, IMO.

Understandable, but makes it seem like they’re forcing things to justify calling it “Disney+ Day” instead of a regular content release/update.

    • I thought so too but google says free for subscribers

  • +5

Worth watching in the cinemas when you can. I'm not a fan of superhero movies but loved this one and got to see it in vmax (sorry to the locked down)

    • +13

      1) overpriced tickets
      2) overpriced snacks
      3) sitting in chairs hundreds of strangers have sat on with god knows how many germs
      4) recycled air blowing in your face containing god knows how many germs
      5) sitting next to strangers who may or may not keep quite and have god knows what diseases
      6) having to watch at a predetermined time not based on your convenience, but rather the theatre’s schedule
      7) not able to pause the movie to take a leak
      8) not guaranteed a good seat for comfort
      9) not guaranteed a good seat for surround sound
      10) smelling strangers’ farts

Take nostalgia away and the going to the movies experience sucks. I think they will die off like drive in theatres very soon.

      • +1

Just playing devils advocate. But maybe the multi billion germs help somewhat with building a strong immune system? Imagine living in a vacuum with no germs from anyone and anything then some other pandemic comes along…

I like your post though :)

        • You get exposed to enough germs in everyday mandatory social interactions. You don’t need to sit in a cinema to get your germ quota. For one reason, because if you’re an adult, there is no germ quota and is best to avoid exposure where possible.

          https://medical.mit.edu/covid-19-updates/2020/06/social-dist…

        • Exactly.
          THAT’S why I sniff seats
          🙄

      • +8

The wife also wanted me to post the following for her in response -

The reason why I like cinema:
        1. I like it
        2. Too poor to have a home cinema
        3. Enjoy other ppl's laughing and reaction to movie.
        4. Good dating place
        5. No need to pause and replay if your partner likes doing this.

        shrugs

        • +4

3 is questionable, most of the time I find people behave obnoxiously in cinemas and ruin the movie.

      • You'd better not ever leave home then

        • +4

Not really. There’s plenty of things to do leaving the home that doesn’t involving sitting in a dark room with strangers breathing in their germs for 2 hours.

If you actually stop and think about it, the whole movie going experience is just weird. It’s a relic from a time when TVs either didn’t exist at home or they we’re tiny.

      • +8

        1) overpriced tickets - obviously subjective but as an ozbargainer you should be able to get good deals
        2) overpriced snacks - never by snacks at the cinema!
        3) sitting in chairs hundreds of strangers have sat on with god knows how many germs - would be interesting to compare germs on cinema seats with your own sofa. I've been to poorly kept cinemas and well maintained ones. Just go some where decent
        4) recycled air blowing in your face containing god knows how many germs - OK this is a reality and applies for a lot of other indoor situations too.
        5) sitting next to strangers who may or may not keep quite and have god knows what diseases - you can choose the strangers.
        6) having to watch at a predetermined time not based on your convenience, but rather the theatre’s schedule - theres often many times you can book a movie
        7) not able to pause the movie to take a leak - i guess depends on the length of movie/your bladder. Pee before the movie and you should be fine
        8) not guaranteed a good seat for comfort - know your cinema
        9) not guaranteed a good seat for surround sound - know your cinema
        10) smelling strangers’ farts - lol.

TLDR - i think the experience is very cinema dependent. My local is relatively new and good. Last time I went to cinemas in George St CBD it was rubbish(makes sense they are shutting down).
If you have a nice home theatre set up then sure home experience might be better. Not an option for more for many reasons.

        • 7) not able to pause the movie to take a leak
          Bring a urinal with you😉

      • +2
        • smelling people farts

Point 10 had me 😆😆 isn't that why we wear a mask 🥴

        • isn't that why we wear a mask

          well played. cracked me up

      • +1

Taking your quiet kids to the movies and people thinking babies and toddlers are able to sit through a movie. The “let them run around at the front” plan.

  • I bet ya every future major Disney/Marvel movie coming to Disney + will now have an ozbargainer posting it as a "deal"

    • Any other predictions?

  • +4

So should we add all new content on streaming services as deals?
