Just use the report button. Paste the link in the details box if you have it handy

    • I looked before I posted and couldnt see anything. Got a link?

  • Anyone had any luck finding this in Melbourne??

    • +2

Yeah. Website was showing no stock, but I called Morabbin and they had a few.

The manager was happy to match the online code price for me.

      • +1

        Nice. Thanks!

      • +2

thanks. Called up my local near Highpoint and now on my way to pick it up!

        • Who did you speak to at Highpoint? I just called and they said closest stock was in Bendigo

          • +2

@diro: Dam. person who arranged for me was "Dean", was super helpful
but i didnt check if there was more stock. He did have to walk the floor to see it though and call me back

          • @diro: Last time, People were saying JB was price matching. Just call the number.

            • @rsop: No luck on JB Pricematch - called the number they said they can't match due to showing no stock online.

              • @diro: Also had the same response today, no stock online so the best price they could do was $450

                • +1

@YG6: just got a JB price match im in western sydney if it makes any difference

  • Nothing in WA

    • +1

Based on other comments here I called up oconnor and they had 2 g29 and at least 1 g920. Don’t trust online stock.

      • That's awesome, thanks for figuring that out. Will call them tomorrow to see if I can grab a G29

  • You happy with yours OP?

    • +3

Ive used one a few years back. Finally got one and to tell you the truth I didn't use it as much as I thought i would. I do love it though. I found a nice stand for it and started to race with friends which makes for a better experience. If you are into racing I think you will like it. Im trying to practice and get better as there is a learning curve to do depending on the game.

    • +1

I've got one. It's good fun, feels well built and is guaranteed to work for the ps5.

      • -1

I thought that the new G923 was compatible with PS5 only and G29 for Ps4?

        • +1

Nope, G23 is the new one with extra force or something. Not worth it in my oppinion

  • +1

I'm still tossing up between the G920 or the G923. Huge price difference with Trueforce (lack of support with games) and better pedal control being the only differences.

    • +9

Trueforce is a gimmick, I wouldnt bother with it

      • Well the lack of games, especially on Xbox One that support Trueforce it's a put off. I was hoping there would be future support with Forza etc but it doesnt look likely.

    • Mostly the same but the brake for the 920 is rubbish. A piece of rubber prevents you braking to 100%. Not all racing games allow you to adjust for braking deadzones, brake saturation or both. Is it Xbox you'd be using it for? What games were you wanting to play? If you use this on PC you can often adjust these settings but games such as assetto Corsa don't allow you to do this, F1 series often let you adjust this. Happy to help, used the g920 for years and it was my entry into Simracing which I love doing.

  • +2

Can this be used for PC?

    • +5

      Absolutely

    • -4

I think you need to buy the Xbox version to be able to use with a PC.

The Xbox link is at the bottom of the post.

      • +6

G29 works with PC too. The difference is console specific

      • +4

Either version works fine with PC, it’s just not listed for some reason. Bought a G29 from the deal @$250 and happy with my choice.

G29 comes with a range of extra buttons + scroll so can be useful depending on application (which is why I went for it) plus is more sought after on gumtree if you’re thinking about resale

        • +2

Yeah I bought a G29 a couple years ago exclusively for use with a PC because it had the extra buttons

          • @philmccracken: How's the compatibility?

I've had good past experience with xbox on pc being pretty seamless and it seemed a bit annoying to connect sony controllers.

            • +1

@Caped Baldy: I've had no issues at all with connection, it's all plug n play.

I've also got the driving force shifter and all works perfectly well together

    • Yes. Get the PS version, it comes with extra buttons over the Xbox one.

  • Did the previous post with this same price get deleted?

    • Recently or a while back.I bought it a few weeks back for 299, then the price went up for about a week and its down again.

      • +1

Recently. It was posted for $249 here 1 month ago. Then it was posted for $299 after that but i can't find that post anymore. Now it has been posted again. Seems like it was removed for some reason

        • It got moved to enough thread. This might as well I assume as its not a limited sale.

  • Just rang casula, NSW. Had few stock in-store. If anyone interested. Grabbed one for myself. Thanks OP.

    • All gone. :-(

  • +1

what do people use to mount this on?

    • +1

a friend of mine clips this onto ironing board as his desk is a bit thicker :-D

      • +4

I use mine on my washing machine, rumble feedback is pretty good.

        • so you keep your washing machine in your tv room/ game room?

          • +1

@kaleidoscope: No I game in the laundry, so when I shit myself I have somewhere to clean.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: I knew a Wade Watts who also slept in the corner of a laundry room in the stacks.

    • +8

I use a $17 Craftright sawhorse from Bunnings.

    • Coffee table (although that's quite low) to use 4k TV or on the desk in the study.

      It's unwieldy at times.

    • you can just mount it on your table if you are playing on PC, if you are playing on a console then its worth investing in a small desk or a Sim Stand. Range for about $100-$200 for a decent one.

  • +3

Great entry level wheel for those who wants to get a taste of sim-cade/driving. I've sunk about 180 hours using these bad boys on Assetto Corsa PC (90% Drifting and 10% Hill climb time attack). I wouldn't recommend this wheel for drifting due to the wheel not spinning fast enough, but it's completely doable. I learned how to drift using this wheel and have no problem doing tandem drifting with others online.

  • +2

    no stock anywhere!

    • +1

have you called instore or just the JB hotline?

  • +3

    Thanks OP and others.

Website showed local store with no stock of the 920, called up and they had one left.

$10 afterpay pulse rewards offer bought it down to $289

    • Nice

  • +1

Wow their inventory system is bad. Like others, said out of stock everywhere, called and they had it. Thanks.

    • +1

Yea, I don't know if it's either floor stock, and its not coming up. But you think with stores closed they would fix it. My bet is they are trying to get rid of floor stock to make way for the new model.

  • +3

To increase pedal longevity, open up your pedals and put bluetac over the holes of the potentiometers that is open to dust.

    • Thanks for the tip! Any other recommends for longetivity?

      • Nah, that's the main one to keep the pedals working for a lot longer than if left open to the elements.

  • +6

Suggest you look at Facebook Market place. Plenty of people who used them once, decided it wasn't for them and now sitting in spare bedrooms collecting dust waiting to be given a new home.

Racing Sims aren't for everyone after experiencing it. Might get lucky and get a good deal with a stand

    • +3

I've seen plenty trying to sell them for full price still. $299 for new is better than the secondhand market at the moment.

      • +1

yeah, on marketplace they list it too high as if they don't really want to sell, unless someone falls for it.

    • At one point there were a few good deals. Ive seen a few lately of people selling them for full price even as new. I assume picking them up for $300 and trying to make a quick 100.

    • First one for sale in Tassie (used) is listed at $400, excellent

  • no stock, either delivery or c&c around inner sydney

    • Have you called your local good guys. Online is showing no stock but there is stock

      • yes I called yesterday they said no stock in NSW

  • I got told there's no stock anywhere in Melbourne so called JB Hi-Fi who price matched it.

    • Which store. They wouldn't do it for me.

      • +3

I did it via the 135244 number which I assume is a call centre.

        • +2

Cheers. Called Springvale and they matched the price for me!

      • +1

I got price matched at jbhifi Eastlands.

  • is this a gimmick? really afraid it would be something i buy then chuck after 3 plays

    • +8

If you're already asking before deciding, yes - it is a gimmick.

    • +2

I picked one up a couple weeks back price matching the same deal in JB and I havent played anything but a racing game on my PS5 since. Really depends on how into the genre you are.

    • +1

If you ever plan on doing any VR then racing wheels and flight sticks are ridiculous fun.

    • If you currently play a lot of racing and driving type games then yes as it will make the games much more fun and immersive.

    • +3

Its an investment if you are into Sim racing. You really have to make use of it,otherwise, it will collect dust. Know that though, if you take care of it. You might be able to sell it for the same price you bought it. They are sort after.

      • +4

you also need to invest in a driving seat contraption to keep everything stable and it needs to look good in your living room. Lot's and lot's of money for an enjoyable setup.

    • No gimmick, but only get it if you play a lot of driving/racing games. I still use mine for Forza Horizon, Euro Truck Simulator and DiRT these days.

If you only play these types of games occasionally, then it's not worth sacrificing the space.

  • I'd buy one but not sure Gran Turismo 7 PS5 will work with it.

    • +6

It will . Do your research.

  • +2

I picked up one from the $249 promo and the gear stick for $59 jb deal. Took a while getting used to but now I love it.

    • I was too late for the $249 deal, but quickly got the $299 one when I saw they had stock.

What game you playing with the gear stick.

      • +1

The best one I have found so far is GRID. I wasn't a fan of Forza with the wheel and F1 is paddle shifting. But GRID allows you to do so much calibration of the wheel and the brake pedal which I can't seem to find in other games. The brake pedal is too firm for my liking and to get 100% braking without calibration is almost impossible without really pushing it and pushing my chair back.

There is a rubber grommet on the brake pedal and a lot of people remove it or change it out. No adjustment on the pedal itself.

  • Great deal!

Not stock for Good Guys though in Sydney Metropolitan. JBHIFI price matched via the phone line given by OP.

Free delivery within two days was given to me also as no stores in my local area had it.

Bought a ShopBack JBHIFI gift card to save a little more.

  • +2

Bought one from Bendigo for $299 + $10 shipping. They seem to have a few more. Other places in vic that appear to have stock are Ballarat & Warrnambool

  • Thanks OP going to pick one up this afternoon 😊

    • +1

      nice

  • Thanks OP, ordered by phone from other TGG store..

Any good deal for the steering wheel stand and shift stick?

  • This looks fantastic!
I was looking on gumtree and people want $400 for them lol

Anyone have any luck with Harvey Norman / JB HIFI price matching?

    • Yep managed to get jb hifi Springvale to price match.

  • +1

everyone and their grandma is selling these on facebook for 500+

i remember being able to buy preowned for 200ish..

    • -1

yeah, why are they so expensive now and no bargains…?

      • +2

Because people are buying them cheap and trying to flip them. Also They have been out of stock for some time and if they are in stock they are at RRP which is crazy. Before Covid I remember them regularly on sale for $250. They couldnt get rid of them if they wanted to.

  • +1

Just picked up the G29 from the Joondalup Good Guys. Same issue as everyone else, in stock instore, out of stock online. Cheers op.

  • +1

Where does this rank in the wheel hierarchy? Better sets out there for under $1k?

    • +5

This is the old faithful reliable go-to starter wheel.
The best set is the one that you use. There's no point buying anything more crazy unless you know you'll use it. Sets of these peripherals come up for sale where people have spent 5-10k and they don't even use them. It also includes pedals and the wheel for this price.

If you want the next level for around 1k it could be a second hand csl elite with clubsport pedals for around 600 but better would probably be a CSL DD for 600 + a fanatec rally or f1 wheel (300-500) and clubsport 3 pedals for around 1.5k total. it's a step up Logitech to Thrustmaster/fanatec entry but the direct drives aren't that much more. Much more bang for your buck and would have a warranty.

Ironically the reliability of the logitechs is also a lot better, it can just leave something to be desired if you do Sim racing regularly and need more.

I had the g920 for years and recommend it as a start. If you don't use it, sell it 2 years later for the same price!
