  • Good price for a 6900xt

  • Um, the title I'm seeing has no mention of price at all. It's $2099 btw.

      updated now

  • Is this better than the xfx speedster?

    • Believe it is a well known fact it is not but it is a good card still.

    • Speedster has better thermals

I sold my old Honda Euro for mess than that.

Guess its hash rate wasn't as good as these….

  • Back in my day you could get a GTX980 for about $800.

Well actually early last year before covid hit, many things were like 20% - 60% cheaper. 2021, the year of overpriced FOMO impulsive panic buying

      • +3

The billions of dollars spent on traveling each year had to go somewhere and so here we are.

    • Difference is back then we had no pandemic and cards werent known to be able to make money on the side. If you invest some time/effort your GPU can effectively pay itself off over time.

      • Bitcoin mining was already pretty popular back when the GTX980 was released, no government lock-downs and chip shortages though.

  • Phwoar!

I'm tired of "hodl-ing" but since i've waited for so long, black Friday is not too far away, so might keep waiting untill then. I know there were some good deals on processors and RAMs, though not sure if we can expect any deals od GPUs

    • +9

I wouldn't expect anything worth waiting for in the GPU department

      • +1

Or they'll have one gpu for some 'lowish' price as click bait to get people to their site/store..

not much they can do if they cant get stock

A top graphic card would be 800 or 900 bucks 3 years ago. Now it's over 2000 dollars.

    Unbelievable.

    • +16

That top graphics from 3 years ago is still $800 but now it's 2nd hand

      • Lol!

        2080 Ti was around $2k.

2080 Ti was released 3 years ago and was around $2k…

I've got th 6900xt speedster and get similar or less fps on warzone and new world as the 3070

    • Ive got a 6900xt toxic extreme (and 6900xt OC Formula) and both blow away the 2 x 3090's ive had (Gigabyte waterforce and Strix OC) in terms of raw FPS and 3dmark scores.

      • Any tips? Could it be my 16gb c16 3200mhz ram that's limiting my frames? I play mostly warzone and New World

    • Well I mean… shoulda based your purchasing decisions on what you play, for example a 6700XT edges out even the 3090 In Assassins Creed Valhalla*

*6700XT using Smart Access Memory, but never the less still technically better.

  • I like this card; if you forced me to buy a high end GPU right now I would buy this one.

However, recently is has been cheaper by $200 at PCByte ($1899 + delivery) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/646068

Deals like this make these look good.

Ignoring the stab at that post, this is actually not bad for now.

    • Totally agree. The fact the AMDs don't mine eth as well is the critical difference. I bought his card and it's great :)
