The Ryzen 7 model of this laptop was previously popular and Futu Online have the better Ryzen 9 on sale for not much more. Being 14" means it's a lot smaller than other gaming laptops but it still packs a punch. I recommend checking out Hardware Canucks review to see it in action.

Featuring a 14" 2560x1440 120Hz IPS display with 100% sRGB, AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS 8c/16t CPU, RTX 3060 6GB 60W (80W with dynamic boost), 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, 76Wh battery, WiFi 6 ax and weighs 1.7kg. In terms of ports there is 2 USB-C Gen 2 ports with one supporting Power Delivery and Display, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, HDMI 2.0b, combined 3.5mm audio jack and power in.

One cool feature that sets this laptop apart from others is the AniMe Matrix Display on the lid. This consists of white LEDs at different brightness levels and allows you to show an image, animations and even gifs. This video shows it in action on the 2020 model, as well as Hardware Canucks review linked above in this year's model.

Before the inevitable ‘low wattage bad timespy score no deal’ comment, this is 14’ 1.7kg laptop so please stop comparing it with your hecking chonk of a steel beast cheers

  • The previous deal you mentioned had a full hd screen vs qhd for this one. Usually QHD goes for more, but personally I'd prefer the FHD for the battery life and is much easier to drive.

In the previous deal there's a lot of discussion around the FHD having bad ghosting which the QHD version is not impacted by.

Just change the resolution to 1920x1080 on this one.

Downscaling 1440p to 1080p is not the same as running 1080p natively. Worser picture fidelity and battery life still won't be the same. So you can't "just change it to 1080p"

        • Well you can change it but yes there can be cons like you say. Though I would class them as rather minor compared to ghosting.

          • @Clear: When you consider the context, you made it sound like just changing the resolution would address all my reasons for preferring the FHD…

I have a 2020 model and have tried both the 1080p and 1440p screen. On a 14 inch screen the decreased fidelity of downscaling is not noticeable to me compared to the native 1080p model. The ghosting however is pretty bad. Also I get 8-9 hours battery life with the 1440p screen with WiFi on so unless you absolutely need to eek out every last bit of battery life it's more than adequate.

Grabbed the jaded version with 1650ti at $1300 earlier this year, super happy with it.

I dont do much gaming. The build quality, weight, size are all perfect. No cam is almost a deal breaker.

    • $1300 is a great price.
Do you still have the link?

    • was that the ASUS factory refurb one? i had picked up one around that price. Dec 2020 model with 1 year warranty. very happy with it for a portable occasional gaming beast.

haven't noticed any other issue till now. warranty valid till March next year for peace of mind. this is the grey non-anime version
