they havent processed mine yet… bought it last thursday
    slow as usual..

They probably purchase their stock after receiving quotes from suppliers and getting a fixed amount of sales on the day. Then once they receive their stock after they've sold it to you they send it on to you.

I'm expecting delivery would be around the week… 19-23mar.
Someone commented elsewhere about being disappointed that they never received it the day after ordering!!
    DOH!!

    • +1

bummer, it made me doubt buying it.

I don't expect to get it before Easter, even though I need it badly to replace my broken HTC legend. For now I'll turn back to my old friend Nokia N95…

  • The market's so full of Android and IOS at the moment, I wonder if Windows phones would be able to stand out… ..

  • +2

looks like they couldn't offload these $700 rrp phones when they had "SOS only" event so have to do it again now

    • +1

It wasn't limited to Subscribers only on the weekend. Rumour has it that they offloaded 2000 units over the weekend. If thats correct they were massively overstocked

  • The new Windows Phone OS is pretty decent, my friend has one. The only downside is the lack of apps. But if there are more phones on the market then more apps will come.

The Nokia Lumia 800 and 900 look great though.
I bought one of these to play around with and give to my mom.

    • There's actually 60,000+ apps now, and not to say that includes all the ones you want, but it may surprise you. Have a look at http://www.windowsphone.com/en-AU/marketplace an overview.

      • I found over 100 apps with this search alone:
        http://www.windowsphone.com/en-AU/search?q=fart

        • Have you tried that search in the Android marketplace or iOS app store as well? You'll find even more fart apps to tickle your fancy.

        • I think the point was that 60,000 apps is not a lot when many are novelty or test apps. I know tons of them exist on the other markets too but they have much more than 60,000 apps in them.

        • And Windows Phone allows for trial and full versions in the same listing unlike Android or iOS.

Don't forget, the Android Marketplace only hit 20,000 apps in Jan 2010. Just over 2 years later and look where it is now.

Not suggesting WP will achieve the same amount of exponential growth (though it's well on its way to 100k apps), but I wouldn't consider a downside to be "lack of apps" as there are plenty.

  • They just can't seem to get rid of these.. Reminds me of their Blackberry Pearl 9100 special which kept popping up every now and then..

The are very decent phones for the price. They must just have a lot of stock.

This phone is very fast and simple to use. Smokes anything else around that price.

Bought. Old SE w760 on its last legs (buttons dying left right and centre, and camera).

Was holding out for SGS3 but that can wait a few months. Can always pass this to a friend or something down the track.

I got one of these before Christmas for $180 through Scoopon, and it's a great smartphone. The hardware spec at the price is phenomenal - Windows 7 is a bit different to Android and iOS, but it's fast and easy enough to pick up.
Don't put a Telstra SIM in it - I think this baby is 900MHz 3G network only.

I wonder if you could install android on this…

  • +2

and it has 16GB of storage - decent phone - great excuse to give WP7.5 a run…

  • +2

Starting to wonder why there is so much stock of this phone around?

    • +1

Apparently LG and Optus were too optimistic about the sales figure. But then for Optus itself, Omnia 7 is better, so Optimus 7 simply didn't sell a lot.

is it possible to install android on this windows phone?

    • +1

Even if you can, it wont run very fast. AFAIK, the hardware is similar to the first generation Google Nexus phone, which is awfully slow by todays standards. Android needs a much faster processor to run nicely.

      • I dunno man, the specs are similar to the Nexus S / Samsung Galaxy S i'd say it'd run pretty well. Unfortunately there's no way to put Android onto it but if you are buying a Windows Phone I assume it's cause you want to have a Windows Phone? Even if they did happen to get Android onto it in the future I bet most stuff wouldn't be supported due to lack of drivers.

  • I dont trust these Catch of the Day thieves,
heard nothing but trouble from buyer's i personally know…

very late shipping, bad returns policy, horrendous customer service, the list goes on

    • I had poor service from them the first time they offered the phone as an "SOS" exclusive deal.

I managed to buy it when they re-listed it as a non-"SOS" exclusive so we'll wait and see.

I definitely suggest paying by PayPal rather than Credit Card so you don't get messed around like I did the first time though.

This is the first item I will have bought from them (not counting the other failed attempt lol) so it'll be interesting to see how long delivery takes (paid for on March 10th)

Here's my original post from the other day, suggest reading it:

  • So have they sent them to anybody yet?

    • Haven't gotten mine yet. Status still at 'payment e way'. Arghhh.

      • I bought a silicon case from the UK and I bet that would arrive here before the phone. I find better service from ebay sellers than the COTD.

        • Haha. I bought a silicon case from a UK eBay seller too. And a couple of mirror screen protectors. Well, my order changed from "payment" to "processing", fingers crossed we'll get it next week!

        • I was looking at that ohe hahaha. Think ill buy it and yes it will get here first

  • dispatched! bought last wednesday!
