Should have posted the deal, mate!

      • +1

        Didn't think it's a deal as it's been there for ages…

        • Any photo's / links? Nothing comes up when I try to search for it.

  • +2

How does this ladder compare to the one from Aldi going on sale tomorrow?

    • +4

Looks like it has one less step, which means less height/reach.

I think for the same money, I'll buy the Aldi one.

      • +2

I did buy the aldi one today …great height and super lite

    • +4

      Aldi one is much better.
      https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-9-o…

I'm going to grab one. Bunnings one no where near as good.

      • Sorry quick question, can you buy the Aldi Ladders in stores in Sydney or is it online only? I don't go to Aldi often but I'm pretty sure I've never seen a section in my local Aldi that sells big items like fridges or ladders. If you can buy it in store, how do you know which stores have the ladders in stock? The website seems to be online only and there's no stock checker.

        • Aldi is "select stores" but nobody knows which. Even if you ask Aldi they don't know. Maybe there's only 1 in regional NSW that has it? Our local never has things in their catalog either.

        • +1

I brought my ladder at bankstown this morning but selling very quickly …at 8:50am there was probably 5 left

      • yes, Aldi is better one and got one this morning.

      • 3 left at north strathfield as of 630pm - nice and light like the others have said, perfect height and weight for a handy step ladder for the house.

      • I have just looked it up, that aldi ladder in not available in all aldi stores in WA. Great.

        • I got one from kingsway yesterday.

          They had about 10 left.

    • +1

      Aldi is better… looks higher

      • The thing is, we don't know if the aldi one is aluminium? It could be heavy af

        • +2

Looks like this one from ALDI UK - https://www.aldi.co.uk/workzone-4-step-household-ladder/p/09…

If so, 4.45kg so very light.

Need to replace my J burrows heavy A.F. ladder from this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/578111. Was 12kg for a similar size step ladder. Way too heavy.

          • +1

@tissue: Haha I have the exact same J Burrows, that's why I'm scared to buy another non aluminium one.

But cool that aldi one looks promising if it's like the UK one, cheers mate

            • @montorola: Know what you mean. I am tempted by this Bailey one though - https://www.bunnings.com.au/bailey-120kg-4-step-twin-platfor…

Its slightly heavier (at 5.6kg) but seems to have better bracing, rated to 120kg not 100kg and the top two steps are platforms.

              • @tissue: The Bailey is quite decent and has a better built than the other options listed in this post.

              • @tissue: Thanks for the info. Bought the Bailey one today, a bit more expensive, but quality is good, very stable, legs well spread with 2 nice platforms.
Total Tools, Bailey 4 steps, 1 platform: $269, Officeworks same brand 4 steps, 1 platform: $260. So the Bunnings one is well priced then.

                • @Bluering48: Yep, picked one up too. Tried out the cheaper one at Bunnings, the Bailey at Bunnings and the Aldi one. Aldi one did feel slightly lighter, but has very little in the way of bracing, and only has a platform on the top step (not top two like the Bailey). I imagine that would all be the difference in weight between the two, but we are talking about 1kg here so not much.

Used the Bailey on the weekend and no complaints – very smooth motion to setup, no sliding on floor and very thin profile compared to the standard 1.8m aluminum ladder most have. Having an extra 20kg weight capacity helps too – keep in mind the capacity includes whatever you are carrying. Replacing my old J Burrows one, the Bailey is less than half the weight but feels sturdier?

                  • @tissue: Thanks for the feedback. Haven't used mine yet, hope will get to do it soon. Cheers.

              • @tissue: You are right. Compared them in-store and the Bailey one is super sturdy and well Builth from a premium brand. I can not trust the Cosco one as it's flimsy.

          • @tissue: Yup, I have this one and it's way too heavy.

Will likely get the Aldi one

            • +1

@The Hobo: You are confusing the Bailey with something else as it’s light and sturdy.

              • @bashar20: I'm talking about the j Burrows one linked above.. It weighs 12kg

            • @The Hobo: The one we are talking about is 5.6kg. Is that too heavy for you?

        • +1

It is mostly made of aluminium, and is light af, bruh!

        • +1

I got the aldi one today and its super light .could carry with one hand easy

    • 4 steps vs 3, so ~$15/step instead of $20.

Hard to tell how tall is the one from Bunnings, as the product details feel just not useful. The Aldi one elevates you to 94 cms.

      • Funnily enough the specifications of the ladder are in the specifications part of the Bunnings product page

        • Yeah, that's very funny that you can't tell how high you'd get elevated to by those specs.

But the "Maximum Reach" is 2400, so I guess if you're 170 cm tall, you won't reach more than 70 cm extra.

      • It says 94 cm as height of top platform/rung.

I'm going to give both a miss.

        • Can I have a link? It's not on the bunnings product page.

The Aldi one is 94 cms.

          • @pizzaguy: Sorry meant the Aldi one.

The bunnings product bag has 1295mm as the max and min height which looks about right for the very top.

            • +2

@Caped Baldy: I'd assume that's the length of the product, so including the handle/barrier on the top.

    • +13

Sounds like the aldi one is a step above the rest?

    • Do you know if this is available for all aldi stores?

    • +1

I have the Aldi one, I think the price has gone up since previous years, pretty sure it was $49 before or less.
I have a older high ceiling house and it is the perfect height.

We do not really use as a work ladder, it is for reaching lights, higher shelves etc.

      It is really light too.

    • Is there a way to know which Aldi stores have it in stock without calling every store up? Or will every Aldi store nationwide stock this ladder? I don't think I've ever seen ladders being sold at my local Aldi so I don't know if only certain stores will stock it or not

      • Just picked one up from riverwood nsw. Had about 5 left. It's tagged at 100kg and 94 cm top step. Best is that it is light. Can easily carry with one hand

  • +2

Is that a TYPO is this a costco brand?

    • NO ITS NOT TYPO.. its Cosco brand

      • I think Bunnings received some Ladders meant for CosTco,trying to offload it now by removing the T!!!!

        • +1

Also Bunnings sells Brunnings - what’s up with that?

    • +1

Cosco is a brand itself. Costco normally brands their own product as Kirkland Signature

      • Costco steps are Rubbermaid - make what you will of the name.

        • are they made of Rubber? oh dear i wouldn't buy them rubbery things

  • +1

Thanks mate i snag one been waiting for this to go on sale…very sturdy ladder need it for my high ceiling home.

  • +1

If this is the same one I have

I find it a bit short reaching tall ceilings

Would be useless for people five foot seven

  • I bought this one two years ago. The last display sample cost 25 bucks. Great ladder.

    • +1

do you use it for display or?

  • +2

What are you doing to me step ladder….

    • Why don't you ask your stepmother?

  • Only 100kg? Not enough to hold my covid fat ass….

    • +6

Buy two, one for each leg lol

      • +8

or buy three, one for each leg

        • 3rd leg would be useless in flaccid status, what are you suggesting here that he does to get it to a more usable status?

          • @sammyla: If he can afford three ladders, he can probably afford a fluffer..

            • +1

@WhyAmICommenting: you are making a dangerous proposition lol that will seriously limit his capacity to control his movements, he will fall down the ladder!!!!

          • +1

@sammyla: Probably hang the 3rd ladder on his 3rd leg to extend it XD

      • -1

        Ha! ha!, that's funny.

    • Ladder out of reach for you?

    • Only suitable for 50% of Ozbargainers

  • +1

Been using this ladder for 4 years. Love it.

Super lightweight, great for use around the house and for transporting in a car.

  • +8

Friendly reminder to never overreach or overload a ladder. Sure it’s not that tall a ladder but always ensure safety procedures (such as minimum 3 points contact at any 1 time) are adhered to. Even a fall from standing height can be disastrous.

    • What is 3 points contact safety?

      • +3

Usually both feet and one hand like when you are going down the stairs. Some people like to carry things in their hands when walking down the stairs and they're the ones who usually have serious slips/falls.

        • +2

Spot on. If you have your hands full/ get distracted you have zero chance of breaking your fall or catching yourself on the rail. Even 2 step drop can be life changing. I got lucky and caught myself falling down the steps but I was sore as hell for a good week and bruised in 3 spots. My shin still doesn’t feel right 6 months later…

        • I'll second this and point out you don't even need to be going down stairs.

I was walking back to the kitchen, carrying 2 glass doublewall mugs, one in each hand.

Tripped over my own lazy feet, tried to save the mugs instead of myself and wacked the top of my head on the edge of the door frame.

26 stitches, concussion and several scans later I was told I was very lucky not to have fractured my skull.

Point is never underestimate how badly you can be hurt by a fall and always drop what you're carrying to save yourself.

      • Some says two feet and one hand.

Some says 2 hands and one foot.

I'm happy with my beer gut and 2 feet.

    I am 103 kg now.
    Damn

    • +8

      No worries just buy 2.

      • I always enjoy learning creativity of ozbarginers!

Any bunnings deal match with the Aldi Telescopic Ladder 3.27m?
    https://shop.aldi.com.au/product-detail?product=810299&pk_ca…

    • is this Ladder made for stargazing on a hill?

  • +2

Good deal, now i need to buy a house to match it.

  • -1

this looks like a good deal if i lose some weight.

  • Very handy ladders. I have the previous generation Cosco ladder - picked up kerb-side shopping. It gets used far more often than my full size A-frame.

  • +2

Wow 100kg for such a small ladder seems a bit heavy

  • I'd rather pay a little more and get https://www.bunnings.com.au/syneco-2-5m-120kg-weight-capacit… or the bigger version for a little more. It will last unlike this one https://www.bunnings.com.au/syneco-3-7m-120kg-aluminium-mult…

  • I have this ladder and love it because of the weight. Super light you won't get lazy to carry around the house.

  • Great ladder! Bought one for parents house. Super light but still sturdy. Top of ladder is like a mini tray and has raised sides.

  • I have an older one of these and it's perfect for light duties like getting to higher cupboards in the kitchen. Not really suitable for getting up to ceiling height, depending on your ceilings. What I love about it is it's so light, unlike the old steel one I had. It's sturdy enough but I wouldn't put massive load on the top step.

    • Can you please tell us how high is the topmost platform ? Thanks.

      • +2

Aldi one is about 94cm which I just measured.

  • Tip: check for wobbles before purchasing. I found some didn't sit flat.

  • Good little light duty ans light to handle ladders. Love this small aluminium style.

Can't believe I paid full price for it, but really needed one there and then.
