    I miss Arthur Dunger

  • What's the approx. dollar value of 2000 telstra points?

    • Used to be able to get 1 x Google Nest Mini for 10K points, or 2 x Minis for 15K points.

If each mini was RRP ($79), I would say max 0.008c per point (so $16).

    • About $6 for the usual value. Most items adding 10k points reduces the cost by $30 (although some things are $28, some are $32, it's a bit odd).

The Belong Sim starter kit is already discounted, it's usually $30 retail (thus why it's 10k points). You're instead getting it for $6 worth of points at 80% off.

However as pointed out sometimes there's better times to use points, like the Nest Mini promos.

    last date to activate this?

    • I would like this know this to

    • last batch I got have a bit over a year, definitely worth it at 2,000 pts :)

    • 1 year from date of purchase. This is written on the sim (zoom into 2nd photo on the telstra page).

  • thanks op. does anyone know if belong sim packs ever expires and does it come un activated?

  • No more $10/month plan :(

    • Even after first month?

      • $15

    • used to be $15 a month unlimited calls to overseas

      • that's so cheap and amazing

  • +1

Anyone know can i recharge my current $10 plan, with sim replacement?

    • No

    • Only option would be to port out and then port back in, although because the $10 plan is no longer offered you'd have to switch to the $15 plan instead. This process would also lose banked data (if any) so not really recommended.

      • In the details it states the $15 plan isn’t available for new signups either. It looks like the target is 3 months at $25 (with a bit leftover)

        • +6

$25 when activate, after that switch to $15 plan for following months.

    • Better use this as data and credit top-up.

  • Can we create a Telstra Plus ID using Belong sim number?

  • Has anyone find out the actual expire date of the packs? I have enough point for 13 of these so that is over 1 year of backup internet for free.

I could have also get the 150 recharge for my parents. does anyone know how long the recharge from Telstra plus last?

It really suck that Telstra signal is really bad in my area so I am stuck with Optus, not that i really care as wotk pays for it.

    • +2

The packs are valid for 1 year from date of purchase. You can see this on the 2nd image of the sim pack on the product page.

I'd say these aren't the best option for backup internet. You can only have one active belong sim per person so might have problems if you want to active a few at one time.

      • Oh, that's good to know. We have 3 sim users in my household but all are under my name. So Belong doesn't want you to sign up your kids to their plans?

      • You can only have one active belong sim per person

I plan to activate one after another but still if what you say is true there may be issues.

Really $100 credit with referral bonus - Not bad

    • How does one get the $20 referral bonus?

  • I think it is good deal.

I wish all the MVNO's would get their act together and get eSim working… It's the only thing keeping me with Telstra atm.

    • As it's not even working properly with the new Telstra plans I don't hold much hope that MNVO's would be anytime soon.

    • eSims make it easier to churn through sims. I think prepaid providers see it as a risk, rather than a benefit. It’s the same in many European countries.

I am desperately missing VoLTE. Only Boost has it, Belong does not. The difference in the audio quality is substantial.

      • +1

I agree and wifi-calling too. I’m in inner city Brisbane and have great 4G coverage but call quality is patchy with Belong/Boost/Telstra so I switched to Boost for just for wifi-calling.

  • It's been on for a while but out of stock, thanks for inform

  • I take it we can't use this as credit towards signing up for the 365 day plans?

Edit: they don't have 365 day plans, was confusing them with Boost haha

  • Ever since changing from Telstra to Belong I'm finding sometimes when people try to call me they get a message the number you have called is not available.

The call doesn't appear in my call history but I get a missed call text. Had someone try and call me and it happened two times in a row but the call came through normally on the third attempt.

Belong can't diagnose the issue. Anyone else found this problem?

    • churn to voda or optus for 1 week and you can churn back to telstra, it should work. I hear a lot of people having the same issue like you, basically the churn between telstra wholesale and retail is not completed.

      • I wonder if the new salesforce will fix this problem?

    • +3

As Telstra refarms some of their 850MHz spectrum from 3G to 5G, that's causing congestion on the remaining 3G850. As most of us know, only Telstra and Boost have access to VoLTE (ie; voice calls on 4G) at this point in time, so any calls on Belong (and other Telstra MVNO's such as Woolworths, Aldi, etc) fall back to 3G, and if there's no capacity at the time, this is what happens.

I experience the same problem even when using a Telstra SIM in my Moto G6+, since it lacks the necessary carrier settings for Telstra VoLTE.

As for when we might see VoLTE on Belong, etc, there's a thread on Whirlpool for Woolworths Mobile, where the rep Rod S said about a month ago, "I really don't have a firm date yet – just that it will start from sometime in the first half of next year."

      • +1

Seems like Woolies will got those two functions before Belong. A few Optus MVNOs have already got this like Circles.Life, GOMO, Moose.

    Belong is an irresponsible company.

    • Curious to hear why you think they're irresponsible. I've used Belong for about 5 months in the past without an issue and now thanks to spending about $100 with Telstra over the past 12 months (~4000 telstra points) I've just been able able to get $160 worth of belong vouchers.

  • Awesome bro, just placed my order

  • Does belong have full 4g coverage like Boost??

    • Telstra wholesale. Not Telstra retail like Boost and Telstra.

  • -4

Just read reviews online and it seems being are terrible at everything? Anyone had first hand experience? My 12 month contract is ending and was going to port in temporarily until I find a better 5g plan

    • +2

Belong doesn't have 5G plan. The Pros:

      • Good referral credit offer.
      • Telstra network (3G, 4G).
      • PayPal is one of the payment options.

      The Cons:

      • Support is subpar.
      • Make sure you cancel or port out a few days (or a week) before the next billing cycle date, especially for cancellation. Port out might be easier.
      • Apps and Web site can at times not available for some time.
  • Can I use these in a 4G Wifi Modem?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • +1

Yes. Any phone sim will work in a modern as a data sim without voice.

  • Thanks, I’ve been waiting for my chance to buy this. I missed out last time this sale was happening.

  • Successfully ordered yesterday morning (before this was posted on Ozb) but just received a SMS, "bdl, your reward <order number> is proving popular. We're working hard to get more stock and will update you soon. Thanks for your patience".

So, they have no stock but their crappy ordering system can't keep track of what is in and out of stock, and that message says they have no stock without actually saying they have no stock.

I guess this is what happens when you put in a marketing dude as CEO :P

    • Same like those Telstra day deals with crap system. Completely, no control over stock availability.

    • Same here. But since it’s their own product, shouldn’t be too hard to produce some extra sims. I’m not in a hurry.

  • +1

For those in reception poor areas or new developments, Belong doesn't have WiFi Calling as offered by Boost.

  • Received today.

  • Having issues trying to active the SIM card number. Anyone else having same issue?

    • same here.

    • Same here, should we contact Telstra or belong on this?

      • I’ve contacted Belong which has escalated the issue. Haven’t heard anything back though yet from yesterday at 9am.

    • +1

Same. Got the message “Please check the SIM number and try again.” Called Telstra and told me to contact Belong for activation.

      • Yep exactly the same message. Maybe we all got a dud batch or something

    • Resolved - Customer Service must have done something in the background after I sent them the Sim Number ect

Now identifies the SIM card and activated

      • Sent Belong a message, got a reply that nothing is wrong with the Sim. I then tried the Sim number again and it was accepted. Not sure if they have done something.

  • Same issue - have had 4 exchanges with Belong support and the final one being to ask for the SIM number which I sent them in the original message!

    Useless

  • I bought this starter pack and want to transfer my Telstra pre paid number across. What is the best order/process to do this?

  • I ordered two of these but they never arrived, looks like they were shipped to an invalid address (it was missing the Street name in the address. I have tracking numbers for both the orders and they have been returned.

    • Common occurrence with anything shipped from telstra

  • How long has porting taken for everyone?

    • Also… anyone else getting an error when trying to port from Catch Connect? Never had a problem with other carriers before.

    • Just did one this afternoon from Catch (Optus) to Belong it was 10 minutes.

  • Why are all the referral codes I am trying not working?

    • Same, really want to use a referral code but can't because all the ones I've tried don't work. If anyone has one that actually works, please PM me thanks!

      • Thank you, I finally belong with Belong!

    • plez also pm a working referral code, many thanks.
