Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro (11.5" OLED, 6GB/128GB, SD730G, Widevine L1) US$328.08 (~A$452.83) Shipped @ Lenovo Online AliExpress

Excellent price on this tablet from Lenovo packed with features and a lot cheaper than the previous deal. It's the successor to the XiaoXin Pad (Tab P11 in Australia) and has a heap of improvements that makes it so much better. As per the title this has Widevine L1 DRM so Netflix/Prime will be in FHD.

Techtablets did an indepth review with the only downsides being no 3.5mm audio jack and slow face unlocking. ETA Prime's review shows the gaming capabilities.

Furthermore it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G that's typically on par with a Snapdragon 845 making it a good mid-range CPU perfect for gaming. It supports PC mode (similar to Samsung Dex) with USB-C video out and can be used with a keyboard/touchpad case.

Other features include Android 11 support with Google Play, 11.5" 2.5K OLED display with 500nits & 100% sRGB, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage (expandable), 8400mAh battery (supports quick charge) and JBL speakers.

  • How does it compare to the Blackview and Alldocube tablets I've posted in previous weeks? This is hands down better ;)

    • yes, but at what cost? this is US$205, so you're looking at a 60% increase in price for this Lenovo.

      • +3

Big brand, next version of Android, better display, faster storage, better CPU, better GPU, better battery and Widevine L1.

  • +2

    Any 8” tablets powerfull specs??

    • +8

I've been on the lookout and nothing yet. They're all focusing on 10.1" and above. They really need to give the Tab4 8 Plus a refresh as mine is still going strong.

      • +1

This units are too big for the kids
        Need the 8” perfect

    • -1

Although different os, i found ipad mini perfect for my 3yr old

    • You can import a Samsung Galaxy Tab P205 or a Tab 8.4 2020 from overseas for under $300. Their SoCs are midrange at best and they have good FHD IPS displays.

      • Hi Wizko, where would you recommend importing a P205 from nowadays please?

        • The hard truth is there aren't any good 8" tablets, but the P205 is arguably the best one that does exist.

I used to have one 2 years back and it was a great little machine, but sold it as I realised I'm not really a tablet person.

If you need an 8" tablet, P205 is very much the way to go IMO, it supports the S Pen as well. Also supports SIM card with data and calling so can use as a secondary phone if needed.

          Hope that helps :)

  • Is there a 4g/5g version?

    • +2

      There's a 4G version but costs a lot more.

  • +2

    Food for thought,

    Nokia T20 is coming soon.
Lenovo Duet OLED is also coming soon.

    • +8

Nokia T20 has the Unisoc Tiger T610 CPU and that's a lower clocked version of the T618, so the Alldocube/Teclast tablets will beat that one easily.

Lenovo Duet is a 13.3" Chromebook so I'd consider that to be a whole different ballgame.

      • Yeah I'm a bit disappointed with the specs on the Nokia as I love the brand now thanks to them using Android One. I wish they'd put more ram in it also. I mean it'd have been a lot better if they'd used same cpu and ram as their X20, although still nowhere near as good as the lenovo.

    • +2

In that case, you may as well get one of these.

    • Thanks for the message didn't know Nokia has launched a new tablet.

      https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_au/nokia-t-20?sku=F20RID1A04…

it's showing in stock and ready to ship? $349 pretty ok price for a Nokia isn't it?

      • +1

Not when it's a two year old chip that is on par with a Snapdragon 660/662.

Even Realme Pad has a faster CPU and better quad speakers with Dolby Atmos.

Nokia late to the party as usual

        • +1

The Nokia has 4g which is a huge plus
          And guaranteed software updates

          • @daft009: And so does Realme Pad. Plus Nokia's guarantee has been gibberish since lately they've struggled with security patch level updates and even delayed Android 11 rollouts.

    • Argh. I love. Nokia android. I wish that t20 was 11.5" though. I want a bigger screen

  • +1

This is not the 2021 version

    • +16

Correct. If it was I would have put 2021 in the title and you'd be looking at a Snapdragon 870. When I can get a satisfactory low price on that I will share. This is still a good choice.

  • Just found my new OLED tablet, thanks Clear! :D

    • +3

I did think of you when I saw the OLED screen in the specs. A lot better than the Alldocube you were looking at before.

      • Haha by far! Can't wait for it to arrive.

I later thought that the Alldocube probably wouldn't work for me as it's stuck on Android 9. My uni text books are on the Cengage and Vital Source Bookshelf apps, and so they probably don't have apps for Android 9.

        • +2

Oh man that's bringing it back to my days at Uni where there were like no apps for any of our text books. I used to rock the classic Nexus 7 2012 and it fit perfectly into my pocket. Had a little keyboard case from GeekBuying and it was excellent.

          • @Clear: Good times.

I remember when the Nexus 7 2012 can out, and reading about it in a PC magazine.
Just Googled the Nexus 7 2012 specs, damn that must have been pretty slow.

            • +3

@Wystri Warrick: The NVIDIA Tegra 3 CPU in it was seriously impressive. Back then all the phones had the dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPUs, while others had a Texas Instruments OMAP CPU. TI is certainly a brand you don't see in phones anymore.

Chinese phones back then were booming with dozens of brands. So many are gone now. They were good times.

  • Know of any of these tablets that have decent thirty party rom support?

    • +1

Unfortunately custom ROMs are pretty much non-existent in the P11 series.

      • That might be enough of a reason to get the Xiaomi.

  • I'm confused whether to buy this or a windows tablet

    • +2

      What is your intended use?

      • Can you use chrome plugin on this? Something similiar to kiwi browser

        • +1

Chrome on Android doesn't support extensions. Firefox does though and I think you can use Chrome extensions with it, so that might suit you.

          • @Alzori: Firefox 68.11.0, if you want to run desktop extensions on Android.

Current version of Firefox is worse than Chrome

          • @Alzori: I use Firefox for Android Nightly, which after following some online guides, let's you install basically any Firefox Addon. I find FF Android is quiet good, when compared to Chrome.

    • There are some cool windows tablets coming out next year. Big little is important and I'm waiting for that to upgrade:

      https://www.makeuseof.com/what-is-intels-alder-lake-architec…

If you want an older windows tablet with OLED, I am rocking a Samsung TabPro S, and a Galaxy Book (which my girlfriend stole for WFH), both available on eBay lightly used.

Prefer keyboard on TabPro S, it's a bit slow but depends what you are doing.

  • +1

I remember news of their newest 12.6" model having better specs across the board, but it'll probably cost almost twice this at launch.

Ahhhh. I really need to replace my Pixel C, might go for this as it ticks all the boxes already.

    • 12.6. ugh I really do want a large screen Android tablet. 12.6" would be perfect…

      • I still have my HP Pro Slate 12 that I bought in 2014 I think. Lasted quite a lot of years for general use until the screen started to bubble because of flexing. Now I just use it for spotify around the house.

In hindsight I would have been better off with a Surface Pro 3.

      • +1

        Yoga tab 13
        Galaxy view (very old now)
S8+ rumoured to get 14.6 inches

  • Thanks Clear. Been waiting for one of these to come up.

  • +3

This is $546 from Amazon UK via AU. Probably better buying that way for warranty returns etc.

    • +1

That depends on whether you think it's worth paying 20% more for a warranty.

Is the Amazon one even an AU warranty? If not then you'd need to return it to the UK.

    • It's a nice tablet though… Still considering…

I'm guessing the Amazon.UK price will drop below $500 on BFS..

    • Non pro version

  • +1

Tempted to replace my duet with this….

  • I have the 2021 version with sd870 fantastic for media consumption and playing games. There's no global rom but the chinese rom has no bloatware and came with google play.

  • Does this come with google play or does it need to be side loaded?

    • Comes with.

    • Does it come with a stand Case?

      • No. There's the option to bundle in a genuine and non-genuine case for extra.

  • +1

P11 is $339 if you have access to education store, still waiting for something bigger than pro.

  • Pen support?

  • How are Android tablets these days?

    • They've been excellent for a very long time, but not the cheap ones. Writing this on a Galaxy Tab S6, a wonderful device.

    • +1

They lose to ipads handsdown, however androids for phones.

      • +1

Depends what you want to do really. Thankfully we have a choice.

  • +1

Why is the English so bad on the website, comments included. Is it because it's translated to English?

    • +3

Reviews will translate to English by default and you can uncheck it to see the original review. Mostly in Russian and Spanish.

  • Damn, I was looking for a tablet deal all day today, and have just bought an Alldocube

    • +3

Time to email BG and PM the rep for a cancellation ;) The Alldocube is still the best option in the budget range.

  • I bought this exact model from this seller and should warn people, although it is a great product, and seller is super helpful, there was/is a problem with the keyboard in one of the latest firmwares. I had to roll it back to an older one for the system to work together. I'm told there is a new version that works, but it's not proven.

    • To confirm was that on Android 10 or Android 11?

      • Pretty sure its 11, it's a pretty recent issue

  • What is the difference between case and film and original case and film? I usually avoid buying expensive electronic from oversea like AliExpress, seeing all the upvotes, I got interested, then I noticed the shop in AliExpress is lenovo, felt a bit safer in terms of warranty. I was waiting for Lenovo duet with a price tag of 267 but this one has a very good spec.

    • +2

One would have a genuine Lenovo case and the other non-genuine I would presume. It's also going to be a reseller and not Lenovo direct.

      • I wish they had better pictures and layouts of the options. I mean I can't tell if the case is the keyboard case or not.

        • +1

You don't get the keyboard Case included.

        • +1

Yes, i found it confusing when i ordered.
The keyboard i got was the official Lenovo one but i was confused because the Keyboard Case and normal case/cover sounded the same.
          Here's what I ordered:
Lenovo Tab P11 Pro Xiaoxin Pad Pro Snapdragon 730 Octa Core 6GB Ram 128G Rom 11.5inch 2.5K OLED Screen 8500mAh Tablet Android 10,
          Tab P11 Pro, Standard x1
          and
Original Lenovo Tab P11 or P11 Pro Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad or Pad Pro Keyboard and Stand Xiaoxin Capacitive Pen Original Case n Film
          11.5 Pro Keyboard x1

There are a few sub catagories under these items which is confusing.

  • +1

I also recommend the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 version with snapdragon 870 chip. I've had mine for a couple months now. It absolutely flies. SD 870 is the way, & Android 11 out of the gate. It's the first time I've not been disappointed with an Android tablet. Bought it off Giztop for about AU$712 total/delivered. Now costs AU$689.47 from there, or $659.42 from AliExpress.

The only negative i can think of, is that, despite being able to download Google Play store, some apps it won't let you install. It will say something like "app not supported on this particular device". I have nearly all my usual apps installed, though.

Other than that, love watching media on it. The screen is nice, & the quad speakers/audio are excellent. PC mode was a lot of fun to play around with. I bought a usb c to hdmi dongle & was able to connect it to tv with mouse/keyboard & external drives to it. I could scrub through videos on it at speed, i was very impressed.

    • agree 870 is the one to get this year.

I assume the screen is still pentile

    • You can always just go and find the apk you want and sideload it.

  • Having the Mi9T and the V30, The 730G is less quick in game than the 835. So no way it can beat or be close to the 845.

    • Admittedly I based that off the previous deal. It would seem that the 730G single core performance is closer to an 845 but not multicore. Also nothing that the 730G is an overclocked version of the 730 in the V30.

      • The 730G is in the Mi9T non pro, the LG V30 has a 835.
I did not check the score, but under CoDM, the Mi experience was far to be smooth compare of the old V30 ;)

        • My bad had it backwards.

          • @Clear: Try these devices with both SOCs in hand and you will feel the difference.

I have an old Pixel 2 with the 835 and it feels like breeze to use compared to the Snapdragon 730g.

On paper, it might look these mid range CPUs have caught up but they are still no match for the high-end processors.

Battery life is better on the mid range processor however.

  • -6

With the iPad 9th gen RRP at $499, this seems like a pretty poor deal.

    • +1

But that's iOS! Or as others would say… this is Android! Pretty subjective to opinion.

      • -5

iPad holds its value way better and has better range of tablet apps compared to android.

        • +1

What is an essential app the iPad has that Android does not?

            • +8

@mrvaluepack: If you're wanting to convince a diehard Android fan (who actually uses Apple for work lol) to switch then Apple TV isn't the way to go. Apple even have the Apple TV app available for Android TV.

The value depreciating is certainly a con of this tablet if you intend on reselling later.

Edit: I hope those downvotes on my comments weren't you. There's no hostility here with me.

            • +1

@mrvaluepack: What's a better processor if all you do is watch videos rofl.

              Can Ipads mutitask yet?

Not everyone cares about resale value, most people run tablets to the grave since their not refreshed as much as phones and are mai ly side devices for media.

      • +14

Gotta agree. This is Android. That is iOS. Different operating system.

Users that want to use Android would probably buy this.

Users that want to use Apple would probably buy that.

Some people like Android and the way it works.

Some people like iOS and the way it works.

Personally I dislike iOS. Cannot even do simple connect to PC / drag and drop music/movies over. Or can't load in custom APKs. It's too walled off for my liking.

  • Worth waiting for the 2021 pro version to drop down in price?
    - tempted as its $800~ all up including keyboard

    • +7

If you're not in dire need of a tablet it might be worth waiting. I'm hoping the next AliExpress sitewide sale (Singles Day/Black Friday in November) there will be some good coupons to drop it much lower.

      • Good point on the upcoming events, thanks for reminding me!

I started watching a few reviews on this and the recent Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro as soon as I was tempted to buy this haha

  • +6

I've been using one of these for a while and it's amazing for media and gaming, but I would stay away if you are planning on getting one as a reader.

It uses a pentile OLED screen which means that text always looks blurry. It's not a deal breaker for casual use but it's obvious enough that if you were to look at it all the time it would bug you.

    Ref:
    https://mynexttablet.com/lenovo-tab-p11-pro-review/

    • Do you know if the non-pro is pentile also? It has a slightly lower res screen.

      • Non Pro would be the Tab P11 and that's not OLED so there's no pentile display.

  • No 5gee

    • +1

Comes free with your COVID vaccination ……. apparently.

  • +1

I wish there was something ipad mini 6 size with decent speca.

    • Everyone seems to have abandoned that size market. Huawei used to make killer 8.4" tablets with 1600p screens up until they got Trump'd. Samsung A8 would be the best non ios tab out right now
