Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 EAGLE OC 12GB 2.0 Version Video Card $899 Delivered @ BPC Technology

652

Blah blah not a deal etc etc why did you post it if you don't think it's a deal blah blah ok that's over with

Saw someone posting the card from NZ earlier which lead me to looking at their prices for other cards, saw they had a 3060 for 925 and then found this one with AU stock. This is the cheapest you can get the OC version at the moment including delivery from what I can find. Figured I'd post it for those who actually cared enough to click the other NZ deal and then get all angry it was posted without GST etc.

They do free delivery through their "preferred courier" or ~20$ for the 'up to' $1500 insured delivery if you're worried, never used it before, but it's there.

They are nice people to deal with from previous experiences but as with most subjective things like individual experiences YMMV.

I believe this exact card was $759+ delivery via pre-order from PLE back in early September.

Looked these up re: mining, looks like with TREX/LOLMiner/Gminer you can still get about 34-35 MHs with the rev 2.0 cards at 79-102 watts which means absolutely nothing to me but I found the young man's voice and music combination soothing so gave him a +like on youtube.

12GB RAM is what the 3070 should have come with!

    • +5

Isn’t it crazy they have more ram than the 3070. Even though it’s not gdrx6 or whatever, still hurts to see visually & confuses the model tiers!

    • Definitely, really doesn’t cost them much more anyway

    • +7

It's due to the memory bus width. 256bit for the 3060ti/3070, 192bit for the for the 3060, 320bit for the 3080.

This essentially limits how many chips you can have in the board as each memory chip uses 32bit. So for the 3070 you can have 8 chips, the 3060 6 chips, the 3080 10 chips. Because no one makes 1.5GB chips (I have no idea if that's a technical limitation or a cost thing or what), you're stuck with either 8GB or 16GB in a 3070, 6GB or 12GB in a 3060 and 10gb or 20gb in the 3080 (there were rumours of a 20GB 3080ti until memory prices went through the roof.

No idea why they went with 12GB in the 3060 and not 16GB in the 3060ti/3070. Maybe they had time to reflect after the release of the 3070/3080 and decided that 6GB simply wouldn't be enough, or that they wouldn't be able to compete with the 12GB 6700XT.

      • +1

From memory, the 3070s were meant to be 16gb or can handle 16gb, there has been at least 1 modder add an extra 8gb to the 3070s. I believe they ran into driver issues but this was back in like feb/march so i'd say they would have overcome them by now.

  • +11

12GB is good for machine learning, for gaming I think 3060 TI 8GB would be better but it seems to be out of stock now ($899 one)

    • agreed. 3060Ti is way to go.

  • -6

    3060 can be much cheaper.

    • +5

By now I would hope we are all aware of this. Even the cheaper price mentioned in the post, the 3060 can be much cheaper if you wait/pre-order.

      • Techfast selling $888+delievery and still in stock.
The deal has been posted in OZB a few days back, players just not buying it since it's not a deal price.

        • +2

that's the non OC, they are selling the OC variant for 918 + delivery

          • -4

@lulzenberg: OC for 3060?, save you some time to get 3060Ti is better for gaming.

            • +6

@GoodDealDave: OK? the $888 non-OC is $909 delivered when I check. The OC is 939 delivered from techfast. This post is for the OC variant, so if someone were to be buying one, i'm not sure why they'd go with the techfast for an extra 30-40$?

    • -2

Last night, MightyApp selling 3060Ti for $990 (no import tax). If you are not rush for gaming Oct ~ till Xmas, wait a bit go for a 60Ti or $850 or less for 3060

      • +1

990 inc gst? gst is where the sting is. There have been multiple shops in AU selling a 3060 TI for 999 recently, as well as a 2-3 weeks back for 850, but they sell out in a matter of minutes. As said in the the opening post, this is just the cheapest available right now if anyone is looking for a 3060 OC. No one has said this is the cheapest it has been for x amount of time or will be for x amount of time.

Going by AMDs latest posts, gpu and console availability won't get better under mid 2022. You can wait until then for easy purchases (hopefully), or you can have OZB alerts and refreshers going and follow twitter feeds for good deals, or you can buy a card at the current price. If falling into the latter, this is the cheapest price for a 3060 OC at the moment.

  • -2

Price are coming down fast… you will see a lot more stock lying around

    • +7

$900 for an X060 series, good grief. I remember when this tier was half that easily

      • +6

This msrp was supposedly 530 bucks lol.

    • +2

Prices are not coming down until after Christmas at the very least. Too many people want a graphics card under the Christmas tree this year

      • +8

That's a weird place to put a graphics card. Usually I put them in my computer. Does it make the Christmas tree shine brighter or something?

        • +5

RGB lighting for Christmas tree of course

    • +4

Not sure how you're looking. They're going higher not lower.

      • Probably upside down then.

    • Can't agree more. It's just the beginning of price falling.

Just Google/Youtube "ETH2.0 the end of eth mining" and you will get the answer.

Once the day comes (most expected mid 2022), these GPUs are going to be everywhere.

      • Tbh with a fancy card, there's only a $1\day difference between ETH and the next best currency. This will probably weed out(or deter) newer/smaller miners, but established farms will probably keep going. Every non-lhr card I see hit Facebook marketplace vanishes in 30-60mins. I use my PC about 1hr (after life responsibilities) a day, and mine anything with a 3:1 profit\power ratio all other times, which is only eth now on a 1060gtx.

    • Not for another 6 months or so.

      • They’ve unlocked LHR to 100% when mining 2 different coins. Cards aren’t coming down for agessss now

        • can also use 470.05 driver + dummi plug for full eth hash power

          • -1

@panadol520: For which cards? Can this be done for 3060 ti’s. If so, can you please share some links. Thanks mate.

            • -1

@[Deactivated]: Whoever negged me -MWAH! Big kisses for your cowardice lol.

          • @panadol520: Not on the latest cards

  • +1

The only thing I don't like is the brand. Gigabyte is very bad company.

    • They haven't had much good press lately, that's for sure. If it's a worry about the GPUs burning on with New World though, that is only for 3080's and 3090's

  • +1
    • +2

with postage that'd be the same price i'd say, also a pre-order not currently in stock. When I add this card to cart though I don't even get an option for shipping only pick up?

    • +2

Yes, atm, $900 is not a go price. Not even a deal, IMO.

      • +2

I can see you used a negative vote, this means you've found it cheaper elsewhere? Can you post that please? Or is it an issue with the retailer/product?

        • +1

$900 is how much I paid for my EVGA 3070 from PLE. Just because there's no cheaper 3060 today doesn't mean it's a good deal. Sorry but I'm with Dave on this one.

          • -2

@icarus255: No one is saying it's a good deal, only that it's the cheapest right now, not sure why you and Dave are struggling with this?

        • +1
          • @TogTogTogTog: again, that's not the OC, it's the regular version, the OC in that post is 918 and neither of the prices include delivery.. the 888 regular/non OC version is 909 delivered when I punch in my SEQLD post code.. so even if you were to get a lesser card it would still cost more from there, unless I guess you can pick it up in person?

            • @lulzenberg: If it's like every other OC/non-OC discussion, then the difference is so small it's irrelevant.

A quick search says OC model has a 1770mhz boost clock and the non-OC 1725mhz. So you've got an imperceptible 45mhz difference (and both would hit 1900s with a decent cooler).

              • @TogTogTogTog: ok? and the one for 888 still costs more when you throw in deliver and is slower, even by 45mhz - the exact deal you're referencing has the OC for 918 plus delivery..

                • @lulzenberg: I'm just pointing out that OC/non-OC is an irrelevant comparison. You're paying more for someone to adjust the mhz for no tangible benefit.

And fair, I didn't do shipping because I couldn't bother but Techfast did recently have a $50 off coupon which brings things down.

    • wow, i remember when i was looking for a 3070 and it was on sale at ple for this price

  • Thats a pretty good sign, glad I offloaded old stuff at peak prices!

  • +1

This compared to rx 6600 xt?

    Thoughts?

    • From what i've seen the 6600 XT is between the 3060 and 3060 ti until RTX is involved then it's a bit below 3060. the 6600 XT is meant to be a better miner

      • The LHR 3060ti mines better with less power efficiently. I'd go for this at this price unless it's for 1080p gaming or lighter 1440p or if the 6600XT is ~$700.

    • 6600 xt is better at mining but i think this one will have more residual value once eth goes to pos..3060ti with lower ram seems to be a better choice at this price tag though.

  • Meh, glad I bought a second hand 2060 super second hand a few months ago for $500. Seems to have been a decent deal in hindsight and was a ticket off the insane GPU price watching train wreck.

    • +1

That's a cool story right there.

  • +5

I miss the days when I can just walk into my local computer store and buy a graphics card without having to spend thousands of $$ and still be happy with its performance.

If I'm going to buy a graphics card that costs more than some used cars , I will wait until the 4000 series Nvidia cards.

    • -1

I miss those days too - I also miss being able to visit people in NSW, being able to travel interstate (let alone international). I guess now that we can't travel, we can put all that extra money into overpriced GPUs? :P

    • I remember thinking it stung when I purchased a 970 for $500 near release in stores. I sold my 3070 a few months ago for $1650 and downgraded to a 6700XT. GPUs only seems to be getting more expensive. Nvidia and AMD has seen consumers are willing to be gouged so I don't have high hopes for next gen pricing.

      • +2

Don't worry I don't have any hope with next gen GPUs prices. But I'm willing to spend , as reward to myself for waiting so long.

Still rocking a GTX 980 purchased in 2014.

        • +1

Hey, I'm right there with you - I still use 2x 780 Ti haha. Been thinking of selling the the second one as pretty much nothing has SLI support now days.

        • I did a new build a couple of years ago but kept my 970 as I wasn't that impressed with the 2000 and 5000 series cards. Then I thought I would wait a few months for the 3000 series to drop in price. Well…

      • Sadly true… and even sadder is the fact that manufacturers have seen what a frenzy the shortage has created. I'm sure the next shortage will be part demand-driven and part artificially created supply shortage. Kind of the way that Apple does the exclusive releases with the massive lines outside their stores on release day.

    • Would love to see a used car for $899 that wasn't ready for the scrap yard but I get your point :P

      • If trends continue, I dread to think what we could see in the future when 4000 series drop. I would guess higher RRPs for sure and the possibility of even seeing cards like the 3060 for for 899 second-hand 😱

Here's to hoping the new factories that are meant to go into production mid 2022 solves all our problems hah.

  • +1

I was very close to pulling the trigger on a 3060 (really preferred a 3060 ti though) because my budget was strictly sub 1k, and it was the only part my pc build was missing. I managed to snag a Palit 3060 ti from Mighty Ape NZ for $950.00AUD express delivered 2 days ago! It literally got to my door in 24 hours and I live 100km away from Melbourne CBD. Not the greatest brand card in the lineup i understand, but a little more future proof than 3060. Was amazed at DHL’s service tbh.

    • Mighty Ape are super quick, when ever I need a CD for some weird reason I order from them and usually have it in 1-2 days. IDK what kinda magic they are pulling.

Did 950 inc GST? there wouldn't be import on <1k but I thought GST also applied?

      • +1

DHL Express is next possible business day, so usually next day, 2 days on the outlier.

      • Tell that to the people who bought on 7/9 the 6600xt on this deal from Mighty Ape https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/649689 Still waiting for delivery.

        • +1

ouch.. that is brutal! It looks like they sold stock they didn't have?? that's not cool..

        • +1

          ah MightyApe… aka Kogan… I'm not surprised.

      • I literally paid $949.39, so yes it was inclusive of any GST.

      • IDK what kinda magic they are pulling.

        Monkey Magic

    • I bought the exact same card from there on Tuesday and they haven't even posted it yet.

      • Did you get express shipping?

        • Nope. But it has said "shipping tomorrow" every day in my account since I purchased. I know regular shipping is slower, but I expected them to at least get it in the mail when the site said it would ship.

          • +2

@Mattapie: If this is any help, when ever I ship something I can't stand looking at anymore via eBay, if it's express, the postage basically updates straight away and shows that it's been shipped/received by the LPO. When ever I send something regular post, even signature, it sits 'pending' on tracking until it hits Brisbane, then finally updates the tracking (which is sometimes a couple days, since we're on a weekend, it won't be moving anywhere i'd say until monday). I think they just don't even bother scanning the regular post anymore until it hits a depot.

            • +1

@lulzenberg: @lulzenberg Let's hope so! Thanks for the positive vibes. :)

      • +2

I am drinking the cheapest, highest alcohol content cider I could find on my hunt this morning, sending out my positive-bargain-hunting-vibes, hoping you are not getting the postage time the people are getting on the 6600xt deal posted above 🙏🍻👐

        • Mind sharing which cider that is?

          • @John Doh: haha, kopparberg 6pack 440ml 7% for 15.99 from the local camel branded pub. unsure if it's all camel places 14.4 standards for 16 bucks, getting close to that 1$/drink dream :p

            • -1

@lulzenberg: wine is best "bang" for buck, all real alcoholics know this.

                • @lulzenberg: just thought you might find that useful, given you are drinking cheap alcohol alone on a saturday morning.:).

                  • @BigKahunaBurger: My partner enjoys cider over wine/beer and I don't mind it, so long as it's above 6%, so we get cider. I'm not sure where you got the drinking alone thing from? and it was 2pm on a warm QLD Saturday?

  • +1

I still can't believe how expensive video cards are. Luckily I have a 1080ti strix to wait it out.

  • Double the price, bullshit shortages, amd and nvidia oligopoly!

  • +1

Just looked at some videos and this is only 4% slower than a 1080 Ti but uses almost 100 watts less stabilising at around 160 watts usage compared to 260 watts usage on a 1080 Ti.

    That is pretty impressive.

So if you find a 1080 Ti cheaper it might still cost more in electricity costs and create more heat.

    • We're not miners so couldn't care less, miner!

      • True that down with miners.

    • its impressive that its only slightly slower than a 5yr old card? lol

      • well 2 generations and the achievement is 90-100 watts less usage

and remember this is only comparing the 60 tier to the 80 ti tier aka the top of 5 years ago compared to the mid of now.. yes progress is slow but that is why we need more engineers and scientists

        • i suppose it may be considered impressive if it didnt cost almost as much as the 1080ti did on launch

900 bucks is an absolute joke for an entry level card

          • +1

            @BigKahunaBurger: I agree.

            $600 was ok.

            $700 was pushing it.

$900 is a true sign of the current times.

            GPU prices are crazy.

It is a luxury now to get into pc gaming with these high premiums thanks to the chip shortage disaster.

Just try and remember the good times when GTX 1060 6GB cards were sub $350 and a 1070 was maybe double that.

    • Plus DLSS is now becoming better and better for support and quality

    • +1

Not it matters to 99.9% people out there, for deep learning, 3060 is the best entry card with 12GB vram, tensor core and support FP16 precision.

  • Up to suppliers to put 1-2 card limits to buyers, even better put ID verification for local consumers🤣

    Scalping is ridiculous with gpus
