      Wtf?

      • What? You mean you don't also have a bunch of spare 6900 XTs?

    • -7

Oops…. thought i was buying tuna cans my bad

  • +4

    Back to $2499

    • +1

It just goes to show the markup of the exorbitant prices for GPUs

  • +2

Deal's gone. They've already bumped the price up to $2500.

  • +1

I dont think "Thanks bought X" would get upvotes on GPU threads anymore :D You are automatically classified as a miner.

    • -7

I don’t understand people NOT crypto mining.

I used to be mad that GPU’s were expensive because all I wanted to do was game. But after looking into a bit more I’d have been stupid not to buy 3 x 3080’s, mine for 9 months and be in profit making the GPU’s essentially free money now and I still manage to game 4-5 hours a day with 2 spare 3080’s to keep my electricity bill free and put the leftover BTC aside to retire in 5 years.

      • -1

you're mining BTC in the 30 series age? wut?

      • +10

I dont mine becuase it causes a lot of pollution. If I had my own house with solar panels or if I stayed in a very cold region, I would have. But thats just me. But then again, if everyone thought like you and started buying cards to mine and get back the purchase value, the demand would have gone up and GPUs would ahve costed 5000$.

        • Bad for the environment? How do you make money, planting trees?

Most of us drive to work, work in an environment that damages the environment directly or indirectly, and uses spare money after paying necessities on environmentally damaging items. So this person makes money money consuming electricity, my job uses a shit ton of lights, computers, and heavy industrial machines.

          • +1

@FabMan: Because all your doing mining is trying to offset the price of the card thats caused increased demand in the graphics card in the first place. If people didnt mine, you wouldnt have to pay twice the price. And everyone could buy one becuase miners didnt have to buy multiple.

Also you are getting something done when you work at an office, now thats a necessacity to drive the society. Cant tell the same about crypto. We are already killing the planet that isnt designed to support 8Bil population. Lets add crypto to it. What would go wrong correct?

            • @John Doh: If someone is making money from mining, then why is it any different than an income from a job? Once they've paid off the card and continue to make money, it's an income. Similar to making an income from a job. To get to and from work, you use a car that you bought which damaged the environment during its construction, its running and maintenance constantly pollutes, and once you've finished with it, it is dumped. At your job your operation damages the environment, all to make you money, isn't that selfish? Then with that money, maybe you have meat, pay for Netflix, a computer, which is all very damaging for the environment.

Unless you are a vegan, have a job that helps the environment, walks or cycles only, lives in a communal housing, grows your own crops, and occasionally use a shared computer, you too are being selfish at the expense of the environment. I think we all are, you haven't found a villain in someone mining to make money, it's just what we all do, just we get a payslip once a fortnight to legitimise it.

              • @FabMan: If you look at it, most people who make profit are those who get into mining early on. Others who start a bit late are just mining to get thier cards money(becuase they had become expensive to buy one) and probably very little profit off that. Thats not worth burning several 100s of KWH of power especially when a lot of electricity is produced off coal. Yes, I am a vegetarian, walk/cycle to office. And am I perfect? No. Do I use more power than I need? Sligtly yes. Would I get into mining? probably not, becuase that crossing the line for me. Probably not for others. If you feel you can make money off mining without feeling guilty. please continue to do so.

                • @John Doh: I don't do any crypto mining, I just don't see it being worse than me profiting off driving to work, with a bank of computer screens, controlling large machines at the shipping industry. Of course, the goods in these containers are being delivered to hundreds of thousands of people via retail outlets, so even if I didn't work here, the majority of people are utilising these heavily polluting services. So if people are happy to pollute to make their money, and spend their money on goods created by polluting, I don't see crypto mining as a particularly worse action to take. This maybe a step too far for you, but the alcohol that damages my brain and that I drink is made in a still, the PlayStation and my TV were made in a factory, when I go to the beach for the day with my family I'm burning fossil fuels getting there in my car.

                  • +1

@FabMan: I totally understand your side of the argument. This is just like an argument between vegeratians and non-vegetarians. lol. The thing is, where you draw the line is upto us and what best we can do. I find crypto taking a lot more power for what it gives back if you start late. And if everybody did crypto, the gpu prices would have reached 5K and you would just be offsetting the gpu cost, forget even marginal profits.

Do you want virtue signalling medal?!
If people buy their video cards with their own money they can use them for what ever they want, gaming, crypt, machine learning and 3D cad work.
Pull you head in. It's my money.

          • @Forth: I never asked anyone to do anything. Someone asked me why I don't mine and I replied. Lol. Why are you getting triggered?

            • -2

@John Doh: Lol I'm answering you triggered projection, because you can't read the room your in.
              I'm here to help :)

              • @Forth: lol, your answer makes no sense, you dont even know what you are doing. First learn to read all then answers, think about it and then you probably might find a way to help your triggeredness. troll!

                • @John Doh: "your answer makes no sense" Then learn English.

                  • @Forth: Sure will do later. Have a good Sunday :)

      • +4

People are still sore about not getting cards and price rises, plus crypto mining can be tricky for some. Also it’s bad for the environment… which is important.

        • I hope owning a hybrid and running solar negates the mining being bad for environment. I assume it’s not as bad as a diesel 4x4.

What’s the logic behind the downvotes? LHR aren’t much cheaper, so it isn’t a mining issue. 6900 XT is LHR lel

      • +1

it's not about the money for everybody. 🤷‍♀️

    • This wouldnt exactly be prime choice for mining given its relatively low hash-rate and high cost. At best you could mine on the side as a gamer and make up some of the cost, even then it'll take a while.

  • +6

funny how "I bought x" was no longer default to joke/sarcasm to high price……

  • +1

    Great deal.

  • +1

    $2000 = cheap -_-

    • Crazy world eh, sadly it was a good price.

  • Will this run Minecraft meme?
