  • Does Reolink support integration with Alexa, or google home ?

I have seen Swann so far that claims that. I am planning to buy in next 1-3 weeks. Any other brands recommended that support Alexa?

    • +1

They do for individual cameras but not for cameras connected to the NVR.

    • Yes, all of the Reolink products support Alexa and Google Home, except for Reolink Argus, Reolink Go, and the cameras paired with the NVR system.

      • Which means PoE cameras wont support.

        • If you use the PoE cameras individually, they will work with Alexa and Google Home. But when you connect them with the NVR, they won't do so.

          • @dealbest: So where will the recordings be saved ? And how will PoE devices be powered if not connected to NVR box ?

            • @pankajdixit: With a PoE switch or injector and the cameras have slots for sd cards or you could use other means that arnt the nvr through a pc

      • +1

Supporting Google Home & Alexa is a stretch for them to advertise this feature. In my experience, yes they do connect to Google Home, but if its actually usable and practical is another story. The lag is unacceptable with these cameras connecting to google home. ie. 10 - 15 second delayed from live feed when streaming to a nest display, not including the 5 seconds it takes to actually come up on the screen, but they wont tell you that anywhere when they say it "works with google home"

  • Can you add more cameras?

    • +1

Eight channel, so yes, you can add camera's.
I would say they need to be 8MP Reolink.

      • +2

        You must be @jv’s twin.

      • They don't need to be 8MP or Reolink. Functionality does drop when using other ONVIF brands though from what i've read. You can connect any POE or wifi cameras from Reolink not just 8MP.

    • +1

Yes, 4 more. This particular NVR only supports 8 channels max.

    • +1

Yes, this is an 8-channel NVR, and you can add 4 more cameras into the system.

      • Hi
        Can add 4 more camera of 4K ,RLC-810A ? or only 8MP camera ?

        • Yes, you can add 4K cameras such as RLC-810A and RLC-820A with the person/vehicle detection, also 8MP add-on cams B800, and also 5MP cameras like RLC-410-5MP, RLC-520, etc and WiFi cameras as well.

    • The NVR has 8 Camera ports, so that will be the limit for number of cameras

  • +1

My preference is for the dome style cameras like the RLK8-820D4-A but unfortunately the 25% isn't applicable.

    • Can I ask why? Is there a difference? Other than it being shaped differently.

      • The main difference is the shape between these two systems. It depends on your installation spot.

  • Looking for a 16 channel hybrid for Poe and wireless.

    Have anything ?

    • Yes, you can get a 16-channel system like RLK16-410B8-5MP, RLK16-800D8, RLK16-410B8-A and add WiFi cameras such as RLC-410W, RLC-510WA with person/vehicle detection in it if needed.

      • Thank you. Just about to buy but do u have a auto tracking cameras I can use ?

        • Hi, Lingnoi. Sorry to tell that currently there are no auto-tracking cameras available.

      • Anything ?

        • Hi again Lingnoi. As I checked, the auto-tracking cameras E1 Outdoor will be available around November. Please stay tuned with us for more updates :)

          • @dealbest: Thank you. Look forward to some amazing deals

  • Swann 4k vs Reolink 4k, has anyone done their research? which ones is better for typical melbourne homes?

    • +2

Reolink for sure and never buy Swann cameras.

    • +1

Whoever has done ever any research would run from anything branded swann

      • I have had 2 swan branded NVRs,(1080p & 5mp) couldn't complain… they worked fine except their slow fps (14 or 16fps)

Obviously 4k is a big jump fom 5mp, can you give some more info what you dont like on swann, please

    • I’ve worked with both on multiple sites - Reolink is all round better.

  • Does the NVR come with brackets for rack mount?

    • No.

  • Is this 2tb internal and can add a 6tb so you can have 8tb or can you only add 4tb for a total of 6tb?
    Thanks

    • +1

You can add another 6TB including the internal 2TB one, getting a total of 8TB. If you can maximize it, you can also replace the internal 2TB with a 6TB one, and then have up to 12TB in total for the whole system.

  • Damn, I purchased this for $770 two weeks ago. :(

  • Can it read number plates?

  • Any recommendatins on a nvr that would integrate with google for these cams

  • Wired or Wifi, that is the question…

    • This is a PoE wired system.

  • Any deals available on the Go plus or 4g duo?

  • Any good installer recommendations in Brisbane?

  • How does this work with a Synology DiskStation DS920+? Do I still need the NVR?

  • Be interested in the same setup but with the dome cameras

  • provided the network cables are prewired already , do we need to engage electrician to install? thx

    • Nope. The sparky is only needed if you need them to run the cables.
