  • Wow. Less than a week ago it was sold for $499 @ DWI, and now DWI sells the same thing for $468, and its sister company eGlobalDigitalCameras is selling it for $466. Might be ~$400 by the end of the month…

  • Is this in stock ready for shipping? And does it come with tracking numbers?

    • You will get a dhl tracking number whem they send it out.

  • im no rep but it seems to be in stock. According to other ozbargainers who ordered from them, delivery seems to be quite quick :)

Hopefully the price does go down to $400 by end of the month :P

    • I don't know if you're referring to this deal/item specifically or DWI in general but if it's generally speaking I've read more complaints about DWI delivery times than just about any other store on OzBargain. People are claiming they take multiple months to deliver phones.

No experience with the store personally but just to point out what I've noticed people saying.

  • lol…no freaking way! these price wars are fierce!

  • What is the warranty procedure for this? Send back? are there any service centres locally?

    • -6

Send it back, but you will not get warranty service from them.

      • +3

fair enough, but why the neg?

        • +1

          why the neg?

          because they're a shoddy company

  • +1

I was pretty sure this was going to happen when I saw the announcement and specs, it was disappointing for sure (the continued lack of storage). And once more phones get/release with ICS (which is happening right about now), the GNexus is looking even worse.

But for 400 odd, its pretty good. And pretty much a bargain if you are ok with a measly 11GB of data storage and low resale value.

    • why 11gb? thought its 16gb?

      • +1

11gb is user accessible, the rest is reserve for phone

        • +2

There's no reservation or partitions anymore. ICS now does one big partition which means there's less wasted space. My Galaxy nexus says 12.7GB available and that's after quite a few apps installed already.

        OK IHBT probably but …

Most Android devices are crap compared to iPhone 4S in terms of performance and screen.

A small number blow the iPhone away.

Guess which one the Galaxy Nexus is?

    • Yeah, no card slot sucks.

    • you cant even upgrade it to 32gb??

The galaxy nexus looks like a good phone to me, I am tired of waiting for the S3 so may get one for now and resell it later, shouldn't lose too much.

    • Yeah agreed - for some users this is a fantastic phone performance, looks and screen wise but the lack of memory expansion kills it for many others. I never quite understood why Nexus phones don't use memory cards but it's stopped me ever getting one despite their often flagship status.

If you only use your phone for storing apps, not including 3D games, ebooks, a smallish amount of compressed audio (not that lossless is a good idea but it does save a transcoding step) and/or video then it's definitely worth considering.

But if you have 1 or 2 3D games and 1 1080p feature film length video you've basically used all your storage - get another device, this isn't for you.

  • amazing i can't wait for it to get really cheap, i still remember when this first released i almost bought it knowing it was the only icecream sandwich phone at the time

  • +1

The Galaxy S3 must be closer than we think given how fast the Nexus price is plummeting.

  • +6

I wouldn't touch it - it's DWI under a different shop name. There are plenty of reviews on the net about their shoddy practices - plenty of threads on whirlpool and here.

    • What I don't get is that the exact same phone from the exact same shop, $29 more expensive — and it got +44 votes?

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/65383

      • cos it was posted a week ago. It just shows how quickly the price is dropping.. but i wonder how many ppl actually realise it has dropped by this much :S

      • Yeah I was actually replying Geewhizz, who voted -1 because of DWI/eGlobalDigitalCameras. The same phone from the same vendor have much higher number of votes just a few days ago…

        • +2

Maybe word is finally getting out about how crap dwi/eglobal really are?

        • any1 have dealt with eglobal/dwi and would like to share their experience?
IMO as long as i get the phone within a week, i think $466 ($12 cheaper than kogan) is a good buy.

        • Yeah I was actually replying Geewhizz, who voted -1 because of DWI/eGlobalDigitalCameras. The same phone from the same vendor have much higher number of votes just a few days ago…

I can't comment on that Scotty. Clearly 44 people thought that was a good deal. All I know is I was not one of them, as in my experience the seller is dishonest. Admittedly this is posted on their Eglobal page, but is still the same company.

Gee, I paid less for an ASUS Transformer with Dock & can use Skype to ring all over the world - except Aussie mobiles - on a 12-mon Subscription for US 149 / year (sic)

Needless to say, I =don't= consider this such a great deal at all. :-/

    • +3

That's an absurd comparison of value.

They're different classes of device. Do you compare your desktop PC with your Transformer and make claim that the Transformer is a ripoff because you got so much more computing power for half as much again?

Maybe you're that guy constantly carrying about a device the size of a large book at work, the pub, the mall etc. But most people want a device that fits in their pocket that they can take anywhere because that's convenient. That's why people buy smartphones and tablets, not one at the expense of the other.

  • Can someone clarify the warranty on this phone please? is the warranty from samsung? is it worldwide?

    • +1

If it works the same as laptops their warranty is complete shit. Not worldwide, if you ring up samsung aus with a grey import they will basically tell you it's none of their business.

  • The price keeps dropping on this and mine is only just getting delivered from shopping square today.

  • I wonder if Kogan the cheapest will try to beat this price :p

  • i got it from Kogan $499, very happy with the phone and service, prefer dealing with them than shoppingsquare etc, and big deal if i could have saved another $40-50 :)

    • kogan has lowered its price to $459 + $19 shipping. If you ordered the nexus within the last 2 weeks (i think), you can try and ask for a refund in price difference :)

  • Does any1 know what kogan's price difference refund policy is? Is it within 2 weeks or Until you hv received the item?
