    10A is NOT heavy duty.

    • +3

What? 10a has nothing to do with whether it's heavy duty or not.
      Maybe do some research.

      • The duty of an extension lead is to supply electricity. In this case this will only safely supply 10A. I guess they use the same descriptive structure as condoms. Research shows heavy typically used for 10A, extra heavy duty for 15A etc.

        • +2

heavy duty refers to its servicability and durability.
ie thickness of outer pvc cover and resistance to failure in rough environments.

doesnt relate to current carrying capability

          heavy duty….rock AND roll!!!

        • Although in layman's terms it's acceptable to interpret "heavy duty" as meaning "ruggedly built", I can certainly see your point, rifter.

You cannot get a 15A extension cord for standard household use. 15A leads have a larger earth pin so are not suitable for standard household power outlets. They are maxed at 10A output.
I'm sure the same two will neg me for this as well being my above post which is based on facts seems to of drawn 2 negs.

Would love to know why I got negged above?

  • It's a 10Amp (rated) power cord made with heavy duty materials… feeling better now?

    • agree

      This isn't that cheap…
Go to Bunnings and buy tradies extension leads.. for like 18-19 dollars for 25m even…
Other day they were on sale for $17 for heavy duty ones.
These are the orange and yellow ones..

if u want berserk quality and real heavy duty it costs about 30-50 dollars for 25m..
However, there is a large premium on the brand and quality etc..

The Bunnings cost per metre of cord (.79) is more expensive than the Aldi cost per metre (.75).
Why are you negging this deal?

      • -3

lol… you failed maths huh ???

        Bunnings 14.98 / 25 = 60 c per metre

        Aldi 14.99 / 20 = 75 c per metre

Aldi is 25% more expensive per metre

which is as per my calculation above.

Where did you get 14.98 from?

        • +2

There's some misunderstanding here, his/her math is correct.

The price is $19.75 in NSW vs $14.98 in VIC.

Would make great speaker cables for my $99 Denon speakers. Better $/m than the Chord Company speaker wires.

    not sure what is up??

    • Chillax, your neg is valid. It seems bunnings in NSW has it for $19.75. If you change the postcode to 2000/2XXX, you'll see. Seems to be 14.98 everywhere else.
