Nobody has confirmed yet, how big the throw is.

If its a 18-21mm throw, fantastic. But lots of the cheaper ones are 15mm and you start to get to a very slow polishing job.

Also remember; these tools are for paint correction.

You do NOT need an electric buffer for waxing. Wax is easier and quicker applied by hand.

Thanks! Just wondering how come its easier to apply by hand? I would think a polisher like this would be easier but I know nothing of detailing

Because wax is just a final coating. Wax on wax off so to speak.
Compound and polish need to be worked into the clear coat of the paint and that is very hard by hand.

    • Because wax requires no rubbing, buffing, or action like that. You apply it to your cloth, make sure the area is fully coated, (depending on brand) wait for it to haze, then wipe off.

Wiping a cloth over your 'perfect' paintwork, to seal it, is worlds easier than holding an arguably heavy machine, that you ALSO need to wipe over your paintwork anyway!
Wax is not something you need to buff.

Circular motions helps to make sure it's filled every imperfection (becaause multiple angles of application), but you can wax a panel in under 30 seconds, correctly.
I recon if the paint was fully corrected, you could have it waxed in under 10 seconds per panel, with a nice wide pad.

Due to white residue, you might also get away with not masking off your black plastics when being careful by hand, but you absolutely need to do it with a buffer.

I can't get the code to work, it says it can't apply it to my order. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I don't have eBay Plus but I was trying to use PLMS15 which I assume should work

anyone use this with Meguiar ultimate compound for paint correction, and Meguiar ultimate polish for wax? is it worth?

    • +2

Not this one, I use the toolpro because of the replacable brushes included in the pack, and the advertised 'correct' throw, and yes, it does wonders with Megs UC.

      • Which toolpro model do you use and is it much better spec than this one?

        • +1

This is the one I bought not long ago on sale: https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/toolpro-toolpro-dual-act…

Tbh, I prefer it, as 150mm is slightly smaller to get into tighter angles of car panels, but still big enough to get the main flat areas done efficiently.

I just actually used it for the first time on the weekend, and it worked well - polished up a friend's black car

Used UC, then Ultimate Polish, then Ultimate wax (by hand). Brought a black paint back pretty good, although the roof, bonnet, boot lid could only do so much as the clear coat is starting to be damaged. They aren't overly concerned, I just offered to get it back to a respectable level to hopefully prolong the clear coat going white and peeling - Most of the roof, bonnet etc was matte black when I got to it, but not yet gone white.

          • @placard: Can I ask how much you paid for it and if it was posted here

          • @placard: Yep.150mm with 21mm throw. Good buffer.

Larger pads are still better though. Anything you cant hit with a 180mm pad is better done by hand.

150mm is great for bikes, scooters, or Kei cars.

Yes, I use exactly that, this polisher with Meguiar Ultimate. Works really well for me as a complete noob. I spent a few bit of time watching various guys on youtube first.
I used it to remove a whole bunch of fine scratches across the bonnet of an 18 month old Octavia, it did a great job.

      • Another in the same boat. Bought a 5 year old Lexus with a few light scratches, and eliminated most and made the rest very un-noticeable, and paint felt/looked amazing

  • Does anyone know if this comes with multiple foam applicators? Weighing up this vs a more expensive 1,000w one to restore faded red paintwork.

    • God i love correcting red. You, your pads, your machine, everything comes out looking like a bloodbath. But the white-to-red transformationis so amazing, its worth it.

Id worry not about getting extra pads with it; its red correction…. Just plan to buy new ones once you're done, for anything thats NOT red.

  • is this a dual action or rotary ?

    • +1
      • Dual action design great for sanding and polishing applications

I think it's dual action, but would have thought it would be in the title of the polisher since it's a huge selling point.

    • Passive dual action.

      • What's the difference?
