This appears to be a regular special with Coles (Optus network) and much better value than Lebara's (Vodafone network) 360 day 100GB plan currently on SPECIAL for $99

In all honesty there is a difference between owning ooptus connection and coles. I had Boost and moved to Optus for a month and then moved to coles. Coles was worst of the lot. Although it’s the same network as Optus the speeds are much lower ( telling from real experience) I intend to move out of coles once my year is done . Just be aware

      • +2

Exactly! I know many claimed it’s not restricted version of optus but my personal experience say the opposite, it’s really slow in most areas in Brisbane. I’ll try woollys mobile next year, hopefully it’s as good as boost.

      • +2

Catch connect is the same. I switched from Optus, and catch is noticeably worse.

      • +1

it's because any of the "resellers" [MVNO] sell you the '2nd-class citizen' version of the network,
ie. a direct customer of Optus has priority in the network, than a reseller customer of Optus.

it's how the telecomms network handles the
incoming / outgoing mobile phone data , ie. how the voice/data moves through the internal network

  • +2

Good deal and got it last time for my daughter & she has continuously complained about the poor network reception ,she came from Vodafone and wants to go back to them so that's saying how bad the Optus network is .

    • +6

Could be your area that has reception issues. I'm using this since last year works fine for me.

      • I've recently changed from postpaid with Vodafone to CatchConnect which uses the 'second class citizen' Optus network and Catch is noticeably faster. Probably because the tower is half the distance compared to the Vodafone one and has less obstruction as well.

  • Can this be used to recharge a current Coles mobile plan?

    • +1

Just login to your account online and click on 'recharge now'. Mine is showing as $112.50 if I recharge before my plan end date

  • -5

Bought one last week for $95. Good deal

    • How did you get this for $95?

      • +2

@BinnyC It was on sale for a few days, here's the OzBargain post Coles Mobile $95/60GB/365days
Coles Mobile puts up SIM sales all the time. To get an idea of what "Coles Mobile" has offered recently do a search within OzBargain.

        • +9

That was 60gb this is 120gb. So this deal is still a good one if you want more data.

Does this allow for video calls and/or streaming videos within Australia, without having to buy extra credit. I just did an 'Online Chat' with Coles, and have read their CIS on the issue of video over the mobile plan, and in both instances have found the information given to me to be very unclear / unhelpful.

    • It's ok for making calls but anything data related is excruciatingly slow.

    • Does this allow for video calls

What sort of video calls? A mobile call video call, or a service video call (like WhatsApp)

      and/or streaming videos within Australia,

You mean like stand a video using the internet?

    • Lol, isn’t that exactly what data is for? As long as you stay within your data limit you’ll be fine.

I've been on this Coles plan for 11 months and it has been one of the best moves I ever made. Not having to deal with the ####heads at Optus anymore has a value which most people overlook, the Coles crew have been simply brilliant.

    • Coles Mobile is through Optus.

      • Yes I know, I had been on an Optus post paid mobile plan ever since they first started here, they are a pack of morons to deal with unless you communicate with them through the ombudsman. Dealing with the staff at Coles Mobile has been a pleasure and a completely different experience than dealing with Optus directly.

    • +1

True mate. Never had any issues with them till now. Been 5 months.

    • +2

Clearly you haven't met the Telstra crew😆

      • You mean voice recorded machine? You never ever able to speak to a Telstra crew unless after 5 hours wait or 10 machines transfers :(

  • +2

I have also been very happy with Coles mobile and will definitely recharge.

  • +3

I strongly suggest anyone with Already a Coles mobile getting this one instead https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/655125.

Primarily because you can roll over upto 50 GB from existing plan to next one.

So far i only used up 15 GB in 7 months

I just wish if there was a way to gift data to other users like in woolworths mobile or belong similar to those

Just a word of caution, I bought these 365 day plans for my mum and dad and their (Optus) network simply sucks, at least in the area where my parents live (south east Melb, YMMV). There have been constant disruptions. Both mum and dad couldn't seamlessly connect to the internet for one time. When I call them I could sense how poor connection it is.

My dad raised numerous complaints, and every time their support said there were planned maintenance in your area.

    • +1

Props for stating the location rather than just saying "Optus sucks".

    • Thank you that let us know about south east, this is my area, I'm almost pul trigger, now have look furthermore.

  • I dont wanna spend $20 on their monthly plan to try it out. So is there any other way to see how the reception is in my area?

    • You can look up cell towers in your area although that won't give you a 100% guarantee on your reception.

I recently changed from postpaid with Vodafone to CatchConnect which uses the 'second class citizen' Optus network and Catch is noticeably faster. The Optus tower is half the distance compared to the Vodafone one and has less obstruction as well.

  • +1

What about catchconnect - 365 days for $89 with 85Gb (usually 60 but got extra 25Gb until 10/11)?

  • How do we feel about this Voda deal with 25% cashback through Cashrewards?

  • This or wait for a woolworths deal ?

    • +3

Woolies all the way if you shop at woolworth often, the 10% discount will pay the mobile plan cost itself if you shop over $100/month @woolworths (combined with cashbacks from SB/CR). If you don't shop there often or not higher amounts, then go for kogan deal via groupon for $15 for 90 days.

Go for coles only if you wanna stick with 1 company for whole 1 year and NEED INTERNATIONAL TEXTING/CALLING.

  • +1

Only if Coles offer 10% off shopping like Woolies

  • Hopefully this comes up again

This or catchconnect 365 day 85gb?

  • I did this a month ago and a week ago received a10% off Coles shop!

    • How did you receive that 10% off?

I cannot see any promo code or similar

      • Just a random email a few weeks after activation

  • Optus ?

    yeah nah thanks anywaze

I want some signal when I'm a distance from the major cities, so I'm with Boost for now

  • Very tempting to switch my parents from boost to coles but after seeing these comments ill stay with boost.

People who wants to switch to Coles Mobile and keep their number from another provider. I REALLY suggest to think about it again. In the one week, I have been living without internet data on my phone, cannot make phone call, cannot send/receive SMS. I switched from Optus to Cole Mobile. As Cole Mobile uses Optus services I though the activation and switching process will be easy. After I activated the Cole Mobile SIM card, my Optus service got terminated. However, the activation of Cole Mobile was not fully successfully. I could not make phone calls neither using data. I chat with Cole Mobile online, and they claim that it might take up to 48 hours. So I could not do anything but just wait. After 48 hours, nothing changed. I had to contact them again and they said oh there is a technical issue (without telling you what issues it was) and this had to be handled by their tech team. I need to give them another 24 hours. Well I waited for 24 hours, no feedback no solutions. Contacted them again, just kept telling me same thing that their tech team is working on it but they could not give me any updates or feedbacks. After another 24 hours, I chat with them and ask to speak with a supervisor. They told me that no supervisor is available. They could arranged a callback within 24 hours. I had to agree because they cannot give any solutions. Again, no feedback no callback at all after 24 hours. Reached them again and again asking about the issues and asking to speak with someone to tell me when can I get my service (you can't imagine living in 2021 for one week without phone services…). They just kept promising that they will arrange callback but you never hear back. Finally after 5 days I got an email saying my SIM is fully activated. However, powered my phone off and on several times and reset my internet, it's still not working. Turned out that they didn't not solve the problem at all. I had to lodge a complaint to TIO. The 3rd after I lodged my complaint, I got another email saying that they "successfully" reset my service at their end. So, seems like the only issue with the whole thing just solved with a reset at their end but this took them more than one week, despite that I tried to contact them for sooo many times.

Just sharing my experience. The reviews online about Coles mobile are also bad. I saw some people encountered same problem as mine and the custom service is just shit. You can never get any help from them and they never solve the problem.

    • I cannot even "activate" because their http://colesmobile.com.au/activate website is down…

Surprised there's no downvoting this "deal"

      • Same thing happened to me!!

I ported my number to Coles - and Coles stuffed it up somehow. I had no phone, text or data for 10 days.

I could not use my number at all and Coles had no idea how to fix it.

They did not even bother to tell what is going in.

THis is a big risk if you port to Coles.

  • +1

I am on Coles mobile. Negative review here. I've used most major brands- kogan, amaysim, Vodafone, boost and I'd probably day Telstra ones might be the best? I've used boost , expensive but good coverage.

Coles mobile doesn't haven't good connections and I live in Sydney and spend time in populated areas. Mobile data sometimes doesn't work i.e no internet connection whatsoever sometimes. Even when connected, sometimes mobile data unresponsive.

Means I can't sign in service NSW to check in. Very traumatic. I will not renew it. Bad/no reception in some areas.

I bought this not realising it needs to be activated within 30days.. silly me. My current plan has 2.5months to go. Has anyone had experience being able to activate the plan later with no issues?

  • -1

So do I have to activated it before the 17 of Nov?

    • +1

No, 30 days from receipt of SIM but they don't check i did 6 weeks no probs ;)
