  • Can we port in with our own number with this deal. That's the important question.

    • +4

Yes you can. You can bring in your old number to any telcos when activating a new SIM card

      • Even if it was previously on Kogan? What’s the difference between these new customer offers and their port in offers?

        • +2

Port in offer won't allow you to activate with a new number, hence the 2 types of deals.

          • @WatchNerd: I've never understood the difference between new customer and port in offer, cos the the single activation page for Kogan mobile allows you to do both.

            • @mandelbrot: Short, simple, clear answer right above from WN.

            • +2

@mandelbrot: Yeah but when you enter the voucher code it won't work if you don't port on the port in offer. I've tried it.

              • @WatchNerd: Found the answer.
If you were previously with Kogan, you have to have not been with Kogan for 30 days to be considered a new customer.

Beyond that, only difference between "new customer" offer and "port in" offer is if you are bringing your number or not (if you are, you can use either).

  • Vodafone Network.

    • +5

No issues for me since the 2010s

      • -8

Wow you haven't left the house for that long?

      • Depends on the area. Without typing my location too precisely on the public internet, I found I had awful reception with iiNet (Vodafone) in Melbourne's inner east. I had to change because I had no signal half the time, whether it be at home (weak signal) or out and about.

It's not worth negging someone just giving people the heads up if they know Vodafone isn't good in their area.

  • +1

Can users port over to this deal if you've been with someone else for a few months?

    • +2

Do you mean you want to transfer your own number to this Kogan? Of course you can.

      • +1

Ok cheers, I just remember reading somewhere that some Kogan deals are port over only, and some are new customers only.

But technically if you haven't been with them for months and months, then you're a new customer anyway. Confuddling haha

  • +11

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/12/2021. Activation or recharge must be made before the voucher expiry date.

    • -7

So pretty much useless unless we active next month

      • +3

How is it "useless", that's plenty of time…

          • +2

@USER DC: Your comment makes no sense.

          • +4

@USER DC: If your current expiry is later its not the deal for you. Good for others though.

  • Is this for the first 90 days only as a new customer or is this a 90 days deal that can continue to be renewed after the 90 days?

    • +2

I’ve been using it a few times. So basically after the promo price as a new customer nearly ends, I will transfer my number to another telco.

Then after a while if there’s another Kogan promo I’ll port my number again back to Kogan as ‘new customer’.

Bit of warning though, Kogan is using Voda network. Some areas have a bad reception, even in the CBD.

    Kogan Network… lol

  • +1

Funny how the voucher expiry is shorter than the last time this was here, Also not sure but it seems like it defaults to signing you up to Kogan first for 14 days free delivery, easy to deselect as it's free delivery anyway. Hate to have that sting if you don't notice or use it.

    • +1

This offer has been available for quite a while already - it's just approaching its end.

  • Can we port from Kogan to join the jb plan deals

    • I can't see why not? What's your concern with it

    • yes, if you own the number.

  • BTW if Groupon ever has a 20% cashback, you can have this exact deal for much cheaper @$11.92.

  • Does any other provider have something close in price at the moment? (I'm on Kogan right now, ending soon.)

    • +2

I usually switch between Kogan and Amaysim

    • +2

Woolies usually with their mobile plans combined with shopback/cashrewards cashback

  • What if I already have a number with Kogan, but want to add another one, will this count as a new customer or not?

    • +2

      Yes

    • New email = new customer

      • +2

I've added a new number with the same email before.

If porting back then I think you need to wait 30 days.

      • Used the same email a year ago, then ported to Catch and now wanting to port back to Kogan with this deal, will this work? Or not consider as new customer?

  • So what happened to after 90 days, can we continue recharge at $12.90 / 90 days?

    • +5

No, it will default back to whatever the current regular price is for a 90 day plan and that's what you'll be charged. It's always best to turn off auto recharge and remove your credit card details through the app once you've set this up so there's no chance of having it renewed at the full price.

      • what is the price after 90 days?

        • +10

Too much for professional sim sluts.

        • +1

$99.90 for 90 days I believe. But you can switch to any Kogan plan

          • @mandelbrot: Cant decide this or the coles mobile deal for my home internet deal for 2022.

            • +1

@George Washington: If it's for home internet then just toss the sim & buy another 90 days for $14.90, been doing this for years for my Dad.
Has to be a "New Customer" deal though, not "Port In" unless you have a number to port.

  • +5

Just activated one of these vouchers, it's 30GB a month

    • +1

I noticed that i thought I might have got lucky

  • +1

I am with Kogan and will port to Boost end of this month, then back to Kogan using this voucher. Thanks OP.

    • +1

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEDT on 31/12/2021. Activation or recharge must be made before the voucher expiry date.

      • +1

Yes, I will switch to Boost for 1 month plan, and then switch back before expiry date.

        • +2

You will need to be off Kogan for at least 30 days. Make sure you time accordingly.

          • @Morien: Thanks for this info. I will perfectly time my switch overs.

  • A bit of a left field question, but I'm planning on going overseas and will be overseas when the voucher needs to be activated by. Do you think I can activate it online when I'm overseas and insert the simcard when I'm back in mid-Jan?

  • So when porting your number to Kogan from another provider. Do you have to do anything with your existing provider? I know my contract period is over, so does Kogan handle the porting process or do I have to cancel with my existing provider first, then sign up to port my number?

    • Kogan handles the port, no need to cancel existing provider if its a prepaid service.

  • Thx for plan, going to port out of Telstra and possibly back to them when something good comes up, I am at the end of my current 12 month contract so want to be able to port back in with another deal.
Telstra is the only telco I get good service from so is worth the port out and back in especially with the offerings of $69 pm with $400 voucher.
I can wait now I have 3 months to find something suitable and generally comes in around Xmas, post Xmas.

  • I just bought one. do they email the voucher or post it with the sim card?

    • email

      • thanks
