i went yesterday and the TV's were 10% off. Today it's 15% off and probably 20% off next week.
Still overpriced with that discount… at this rate, who knows when they will close down lol

yea im sure u could bargain em down

    • Not by much.. talked to them.. they have a set prices.. doesnt go down much lower at all really..

I'm sick of their lame closing down sale, if they were really serious about it, they wouldn't advertise 5% off laptops, 10% off digital cameras etc. You can get it cheaper in jb without a sale lol.

they are doing rugs-a-million close down sale lol :p

        Genuine Fukkhari rugs! :p

I curse the day you married my sister :).

    • It sounds like the standard model for liquidation sales - whack the price up to RRP, do flashy 'ZOMG EVERYTHING MUST GO!!!' advertising and then discount everything by some percentage every few days until it's gone.

Went there last Saturday, can't find anything to buy at good price, maybe will go and have a look again to see whether they wants my $$$.

  • If I was in QLD I'd be waiting for the real firesale :)

The initial Prices are so high, even after 10 or 15% it is not a bargain.

  • +1

no wonder they are closing down then

  • they're doing just what i said before in the last WOW thread! 15% everything, the heavily discounted stuff with be mostly old discontinued stock and small cheap accessories that you can get for next to nothing from the china sites!

    "no reasonable offer refused"

When I went there last week and ask if I could price match an item (imagine I have to price match in a closing down sale), they told me they cannot move any prices because they are in receivership and are instructed to sell on the stated discount price.

      "no reasonable offer refused"
is clearly in relation to 'fixtures and fittings'

  • I have been to a few of these recently and surprise surprise bs markups and bs %. I reckon the receivers wont bother keeping staff on board at a TRUE %50-%70 discount and before they get to that point they sell the lot at an auction or to a competitor and be done with it while maintaining low overheads incl. rental cost.

WOW was blasted over the media a week or two ago with many being disappointed with their alleged discounts.

    • With a name like WOW, they're not really living up to their name…it's little wonder they're closing lol

    • They can't keep the staff on much longer, I went at 5pm and there was 15 odd staff playing ping pong in the back of the store, where the car audio fitting happens.

  • 2 weeks ago it was 10%, min 15% now. Whens the sale end?

  • I went at the start of the sale and had my eye on a ps vita at 10% off. I might pick one up now if it's 15% or more as it would be less that $300

I went to buy a PS Vita game at the sale. It was cheaper at Harvey Norman at regular price. WOW had put the games back up to full RRP, then taken the discount off. So it was $69.95 down to $55.96. Who would pay $69.95 for a game when even Harvey's has it for $49.95?! (That's Harvey Norman retail, their direct import site has it for $34.95).

Just went in, it's all still very expensive.

Psssssst The longer the administrators and receivers/managers are in control of the company before it is liquidated, the more they can charge their creditors in fees. So really, they want it to take a while before stock is gone. But don't tell anyone this secret …

    • So true. Area also in insolvency? :)

  • give it a few more weeks folks…. their original prices are so high, that even current 'discount' isnt competitive yet.

thanks to OP for keeping us bargain hunters informed, but not quite there yet.

  • Anyone asked about prices on the shop fittings? Please update if you do, I am fitting out a retail shop soon and some stuff could be handy if the price is reasonable. Cheers

    • Save your money and don't open a retail shop. :)

      • +3

Well, if his store is also called WOW, he'll be able to save heaps by buying up their fixtures and fittings.

Or even if it's called Mom, you can use it upside down

        • You can use their Mum upside-down…

  • Haha. Thanks guys. It's not a computer or electronics shop that's for sure! thinking it might be a good source for some security camera etc

  • Had a look, crazy prices as you'd expect. $70 for a used office chair, $400 for a dvd rack, $100 for a filing cabinet. $2000 for terminator statue. Pass.
