Not sure whether it is a worthwhile deal or not. No power supply and integrated graphics may make it not such a great offer. Plus postage seems a little high.

I've shipped a complete PC from Sydney to regional NSW for just over $20, registered and insured. What a rort $49 is indeed.

Codegen ATX-3335-A2 Case with PSU $39.00
    Total $218 from MSY

    Also: no optical drive? Really?

  • optical drive? = elder odds.

If I can convice aunty using a Linux machine, then this is for hers.

  • I install my OS and then disconnect the optical drive.

  • Thing is, it doesn't have an OS.

Which means either you have to have another ODD you know how to plug in and use, or you have to know how to install an OS from USB or over the network. Which would mean there's a good chance you could throw this PC together in about 20 minutes yourself. In which case getting the parts yourself from local MSY or Umart etc. would be cheaper.

  • Better as a NAS than HP Microserver?

    • +1

HP MicroServer would be better. It's quieter, uses less energy and all round better suited to NAS/HTPC/VoIP tasks.

      • Just ditto-ing cyssero.
