    Dishwasher safe?

    • Yes, it's Dishwasher safe

      • Cheers.

        • +1

Non stick is never dishwasher safe. They claim its "safe" in thy sense it won't die after 5 washes, but a dishwasher will still destroy it after a few years.

Wait bugger, what vola said below.

    • +10

Non stick never are, whatever the company claims, it reduces the longevity of the non stick coating

  • +8

after constant failing of non stick surfaces, the only pots and pans we have got are stainless steel.

    • +2

      Any recommendations? Tia

      • +3

        Essteele imo

      • I like the baccarat rock selection but it’s pricier.

        • +5

These stone surfaces are worse than non stick. I have both and the stone failed much sooner than the non stick and were $80 a pot/pan. Once that coating fails they are a nightmare to cook with. As the OP said, go stainless steel. I wouldn't mind checking out cast iron too as never cooked much with them but look good.

@baker bob: Legend, thank you so much for an honest review. I would have only pulled the trigger if someone in our reliable OzB community shared positive sentiment.

      • Cast iron are also good,
if you go the non non-stick route,
but depends on how your coat your pan.

      • We have essteele that was an sale for sauce pan and frying pan And scanpan pots…think there might be a Kmart stock pot in there.

If I had my choice again I would get pots and pans that are welded on rather than riveted on, easier to clean.

We have left stuff on the stove by accident in the pots and come back to a charred message…wire scourer and it's almost like it never occurred!!

Definitely what we will give the kids when they move out (decades away), that and a stainless steel rice cooker. They should last multiple life times. The only word of advice I have is to NOT put cold liquids into a hot pan/pot as it can/does warp them (only use hot water to deglaze)

For fryng pans I'm now totally cast iron.
      Best move ever.

Agree. Stainless steel for post and steel / cast iron for meat. 1 good non stick pan for crepes.

constant failing of non stick surfaces

Non-stick cookware is inherently disposable. In saying that, there's nothing wrong with having a couple as for some tasks they are legitimately easier. I have a little $20 Tefal pot that does a better job of scrambled eggs than the rest of my $1000+ worth of cookware. I know it wont last forever, but used carefully in relatively low-heat applications, I'll get some good mileage out of it!

    • We have some circulon non stick that has been going very strong for over 10 years. Granted there is probably a bit of luck there, but also a lot how you treat them. Nothing metal, no dishwasher, and no hot frying (if olive I oil smokes you've gone too hot)

    Really inflated RRP for Tefal

    • +5

Agree it's around $120 at other places. It's $102 at good guys. Still this is cheaper by a few dollars I guess

  • +2

    $97 is ok though.

  • +9

There's a 5.6% cashback offer through Cashrewards as well, effectively $92.03.

    • Cheers, used it..

  • any recommendation for steamers?
    thanks guys

      Boston…

Cabramatta local homeware stores. They sell stuff like tissue, soap and detergengents, then cookery, utensils, chinaware and all these asian generic pots and steamers (both bamboo and stainless steel)

  • Thanks Nutcracker007.

You going to see the new Bond?

  • So what's the ozbargainer's recommendation for stainless steel cookware?

Non-stick telfon is a no-go for us, as we definitely will be sticking them into the dishwasher. So in time the coating will disappear, and we would like to avoid contributing to further landfill.

Cast iron is very heavy, and pre-seasoning and maintenance seems a drag. Stainless steel seems where it's at.

    • I'm also interested. I've tried most of the stainless steel cookware from Kmart and IKEA. But none of them seems to be good enough.

      • honestly, I have this https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/oumbaerlig-saute-pan-with-lid-7… and it's held up in the 2 years I've had it. Thick base, kinda heavy. I chuck it in the dishwasher all the time. Not sure why the reviews are complaining about eggs sticking, they clearly didnt kick off the leidenfrost effect…

    • Cast iron is a breeze to clean after a few months of good use, it's actually easier to clean then all my other cookware.
Love that I can use any utensil and don't have to baby it like other non stick pots and pans.

  • Looks like it's gone for me … webpage error ?
