Thanks! Forgot to post this yesterday.

Ah the memories of opening an playing Link's Awakening back in the day, back when games were made with great playability.

    • +17

Yea not like today, when games try to appeal to modern audiences with their bad playability

      • +9

Like the infamously unplayable breath of the wild

        • +6

Oh yeah. I’ve spent 100 hours on it and still can’t get the blocking right.

    • +13

We are all grumpy grandpas boomers now

  • +4

My Mario game watch is still sealed. Not sure I should buy another one.

    • +3

For the led backlit triforce on the back of this one… And for Kinks Awakening. And possibly this one may use a different board for home brew inG.

      • +28

        Kinks awakening 😂

        • +4

          Just a Freudian spit

        • +2

          kinks intensifies

        • +5

Zelda…wh-what kind of sword is that??

      • It's a good twink item

  • +2

    $68 at harvey whoreman.
or get jb to price match and use discounted gc

    • I'll go to JB and get rid of some gift cards .

  • Any guesses as to what the next Game & Watch will be?

    • +14

I want double screen Kong RRP $99 .

      • I would be even happy to pay $120 for a dual screen

DK not getting any love this 40th anniversary

        • I don't think Donkey Kong is a strong enough IP on it's own for commercial success. My guess is Metroid?

          • @Villainous: I'd say Metroid NES

          • @Villainous: Donkey Kong is apparently a strong enough IP to warrant shoveling the money to get (profanity) Seth Rogan voicing him in a block buster film. Rumors are also rumoring that there is already a Donkey Kong movie in the works. Nintendo has already confirmed that they are already working on other films relating to their IP in the latest Corporate Management Policy Briefing which I believe indicates the possibility of the movie.

Also your guess sucks, I can name at least 3 other Nintendo IP that has stronger commercial potential than Metroid.

I am sorry for this long winded reply about how great Donkey Kong is.

Edit: Looking at the briefing again, I just realized that Donkey Kong also has his own section of Super Nintendo World (the theme park) in development. God I love Donkey Kong. Also Miyamoto mentioned the potential of movies for other Nintendo IP in the Q&A, not the presentation itself.

              @yilli:

"Also your guess sucks, I can name at least 3 other Nintendo IP that has stronger commercial potential than Metroid."

That's why I asked the question. It's a discussion, not an agument.

              lol someone needs a banana

      Cyberpunk 2077.

      • Haha at 1fps?

        • +1

It does 2fps on XSX so I don't see why not :)

    • Only one I can see them doing would be Pokemon, unless Metroid Dredd has motivated Nintendo to do a bit more with that IP. Pokemon with Bluetooth to enable trading could be pretty neat but.

Otherwise I think returning to the NES/SNES Mini concept of a system with 30 odd games makes more sense with either an N64 Mini or Gameboy rerelease (either the original family or the Advanced line). If they did N64 they could maybe even support the recently released Bluetooth controller.

      • Game & Watch is 80's gen. Pokemon was 96 onwards and isn't an original Nintendo IP. 2 different markets.

I would definitely buy more mini consoles though. Mini N64, Gamecube and Gameboy DMG. Would buy all of them.

        • Sure, but these Zelda titles aren’t Game and Watch releases. They’re NES and Game Boy titles. Not sure it’d stop Nintendo.

I just can’t think of any IP that Nintendo would ship dedicated hardware like this for. As good as Metroid is, Nintendo doesn’t back it nearly as much as these two.

          • @Smigit: Yes but they are both 80's gen. Same target market demographic from a marketing perspective.

They've done well with the mini consoles and these game and watches, so if they release something new i'm sure it will be good.

  • Come on Amazon….

    • -3

I don't want to come on them

      • you don't want to, but you'll do it anyway

  • +2

Just tried to place my order and then the entire website went down, sorry guys my bad.

  • +2

Thanks op. Had pre ordered from ebgames, called them today and I received attitude when I asked why I wasn't notified my pre order was ready. Then when I asked about price match, the response was "probably not".

Ordered from target, $10 cheaper and free delivery :)

    • +4

Apparently this is a known issue if you have a certain notification unticked in your ebgames account. Happened to me with the Mario one and was wondering why on Earth they didn't notify me. Shit store if you ask me, just order elsewhere.

      • +3

Ye I've got SMS order notifications set to on. It's the 3rd preorder I've had the same issue. Won't be using eb anymore.

        • +3

Especially when everyone else is cheaper. Unless they have exclusivity i’m never rushing out to preorder from EB again.

    • -1

Does the $10 work? it seems not applicable to interactive gaming..

    • +2

i had the exact same issue with eb games for a pre-order recently, not one single notification from them. The only way i knew is i saw an email from another company about that product and it reminded me.

When i asked them whats the point of pre-ordering if you dont even notify me, their response was: head office didnt want people doing click and collects during lock down. fukn idiots.

  • +1

Was happy with JBs preorder, got it yesterday morning (overnight delivery). Im also enjoying the device

    • Same. Received mine yesterday as well.

I recall reading JB will charge what the current price is. I paid $79 plus shipping. How do we know if they are choosing to partially refund pre-order buys?

      • Harvey Norman didnt contact me or anything no information and they keep pushing it back and forward.

  • Can this be stacked with the $10 welcome email?

    • +1

      I tried, didnt work.

  • +2

I realllly wish this had of come with link to the past :(

    • +1

In Nintendo's defense, it couldn't, the SNES controller has more buttons. Although I feel you bro :'(

      • Hadnt even though about that!

  • Sorry for not knowing but is there a separate watch included or is the watch in the game console?

    • +2

Link it to your apple watch

    • +1

It has a clock function built in, no actual wrist watch included.

      • There is actually a secret wrist watch feature. You press 'clock', then 'up up down down left right left right b a'. Finally then you cut two slits in the bottom plastic, stick a nato through, and vola.

    • +3

Im assuming you are less than 35 years old :)

      • Couldn't tell if this was a serious question or trolling lol

  • +1

Picked up my 2 from Harvey yesterday, super easy process, and at $53 each using the old LatitudePay deal I'm stoked

    • Did you get a notification of ready for pick up? I preordered from HN too but have not heard anything yet.

      • Me neither when i rang the store they said contact the online store when i contacted online store they said contact the store.

        • +1

Typical crappy Australian retailer customer services. That’s why sometimes I hesitate to support our own Australian retailers simply because it is such a PITA to deal with them.

      • I got notification at 9am, was already on my way there regardless.

    • How do you get $53 using LatitudePay deal?

      • +2

That deal is finished now, think it was along the lines of $30 off spend over $100 or something.

  • Thanks. Went to my local JB HiFi and price matched this. It’s smaller than I thought.

    • -1

yeh its basically a shelf item for me, its too small to actually be a usable gaming device.

      • I bought 2, one for collection and the other to play with. I couldn’t collect all the hearts when I was kid but now with all the YouTube videos and walkthroughs I am sure it will be easy-peasy.

  • Anyone know if EB prices matches? Have one pre ordered ready for pickup but will just cancel if they dont.

    • Comments above indicate no, pretty sure they stopped price matching hardware a long time ago, safe bet to order from Target with free delivery and cancel the EB Games order, I had one ordered from EB too but grabbed this deal yesterday.

      • Thanks for that. Seems its out of stock at Target now anyway. At least in Metro Melb. Only regional has it by the looks of it.

    • Just give them a call

    • I have experienced prices matched EB games on a Switch game. They told me, I can price matched if the store in the building. It was in the shopping center. So I price matched JB price with a Switch game pre-order. So I can have a bonus steel book from EB with JB price. :)

      • They price match games but usually not hardware.

  • +1

    Order cancelled…….

  • Isnt Target free shipping $70+ - Does $69 count - correct me if im wrong.
