    in time for Christmas present

  • +2

    2000A?

    • +2

Starting current is 500A for 3 seconds or 400A for 5 seconds. Pretty good unless your engine is a complete dud to start.

    • +3

yeah 2000A is BS. Those thin cables would vapourize at 2000A

Maybe it's like the old fashioned amp PMPO spec? Get 2000W from a pair of AA's

    • +1

      @Ozhan
      "2000A?"
The very friendly "GooLoo Welcome Guide" in perfect Chinglish states on page 7:
      Starting current: 500A (3s), 400A (5s)
      PEAK current: 2000A

Back in the day, PEAK meant possible maximum, but not sustained.

I would never have read this any other way, and I always read between the lines when it comes to specs or even statistics.

    • So their claim of starting "up to 10.0L" petrol (gas) engine is bulldust then?

    • +4

Why did u buy several of them?

      • He has lots of cars?

    • +3

If you bought several and none works then must be issue with car.

    • +2

I've used one of these to start my car and it works fine, and from reading the comments every time these are posted so have a lot of other people. Maybe the problem is with your car.

    • +1

I recall this comment was posted against another brand of jump starter as well.
      Is it for the Gooloo?

      • Gooloo?

I’ve been to the loo so don’t need to Go Loo

    • +3

Maybe try a new battery there, champ👌

      • lol exactly

    • +1

      "I have several of those"
"If you live in the cities, go for it"
"Might work on some small cars"
No offence mate, I guess your Ford Falcon needs a new battery

    • +5

Jumps my high compression 355 stroker with 300A cam, a VE 6L Redline and a couple of diesel 4wds. You gotta match those red and black leads up mate not the other way around.

      • +1

        These are a great test!
        Thanks for the feedback.

    • +1

Mine starts 3l diesel Hilux and 4l large tractors no problems, several times from stone dead, ie no dash lights. These would have much higher compression than your Falcon. You do need to be careful about attaching the clamps to ensure a good bond.

    • I have the 1500A version and it starts my old 96 4.0l Falcon no problems I'd assume the 2000A would be even better, even with a dead battery that wont hold charge it'll start the ol'beast.

  • +2

I have 2 of them. Works fine and Gooloo's customer service is excellent. Just be careful when you insert the smart plugs into the unit. It is a bit hard and applying much force may break the thin plastic behind holding the port. It did happen to me after a year of use and Gooloo simply sent the new one. Then I just repaired the old (glued the plastic back) and now using both. Have a few trucks with 24V batteries and it has been a great help during lockdowns.

  • Anyone know where to find replacement cables for these?

    • Contact GooLoo direct. There is information in the very friendly (but tiny printed Gooloo "Welcome Guide". Strangely, there is an email address: [email protected] (one can only hope she is still there if I ever need to contact her down the track. There are a few Chinglish expressions, but nothing totally incomprehensible.

I have had mine for two years now and has proven to be an excellent, safe and reliable product.

Despite the negative comments from the trolls here at OzB, this and similar GooLoo products have been available through Amazon AU for a couple of years now. The user feedback has been generally good or favourable. Had these units been lemons, the feedback reviews would have stated that and Amazon would have dumped it.

Best moment with this unit to date. The power went out in our neighbourhood for 2 days after a car took out a couple of power poles. I used my unit to recharge quiet a few of my neighbour's mobile phones, including my own. Generally speaking once recharged, the unit will hold the charge on standby for about 3-4 months, and I will then recharge when it reaches 75%.

Seems to live up to all it's specs. Good review from ProjectFarm here:

  • +2

Yeah, it starts my V6, saved my butt when I left my lights on.

Anyone new to this topic, read them comments on past deals ;) These are this price often and a good item and price IMO.

How will a ctek start your car away from 240v when the battery is drained or failed?

      • -4

A drained battery doesn’t sound like it’s been well managed by a ctek battery… comprendo?

    • +4

This is for jumpstarting not charging. If you need to start straight away then a ctek battery charger in the carpark isn’t going to help you. These are brilliant. I have two. This one and the smaller one. All family and friends have one and they’ve saved themselves or someone else a few times. I use it on ride on mower and if I’ve left the inverter on in the work vehicle. Awesome bit of kit and people are blown away by it.

      • -6

No need to jump start a perfectly working battery that is managed by a ctek charger… comprendo?

        • +3

There is if you leave the lights on

        • +7

This is for jumpstarting not charging… comprendo?

    • +2

      They're two different use cases.

This is a portable jump starter to use when someone left the lights on/door open/etc and the battery went flat. It'll kick over the motor so you can charge up the battery whilst driving.

Charger is great for home when you won't be using your car that often and need to keep the battery in good nick & charged so.the chemistry doesn't get messed up permanently.

I have both. It's like have different kitchen knives.

    • Exactly but those GOOLOO fanboys here won’t listen.

  • +2

(up to 10.0L Gas or 7.0L diesel)

Damnit, I was hoping to use it to jump start the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine in my Spitfire

    • +2

Yes I had the same issue when I borrowed Roman's Eclipse yacht. Svetlana, Crystal, Inga & Annika left the hottub running when we popped ashore in Monaco for a few days. I was hoping this might avoid the RACM call-out fee.

  • I purchased the 4000A one from a previous deal, but have only used it as a power bank, as I've never needed to jump start my car.
It works great, but should I be looking at a cheaper or different option for a second power bank?

    • @queenofthestonage

"It works great, but should I be looking at a cheaper or different option for a second power bank?"
Nah, just maintain the charge level. Recharge when the level gets down to about 75% (don't let the charge level get too low else you won't have enough for a jumpstart).

The unit, if unplugged and not being used. It should maintain the charge for about 3-4 months.

    • +2

I also purchased the 4000a version as well. I was hesitant at first due to higher price but my diesel Astra has been taking longer to start these days.

I also was concerned with the automatic head lights turning on as soon as I unlock the car and due to me only driving short distances for shopping I was afraid battery is declining due to this so I decided to buy it just in case.

I am glad I did as a week later my car which cranked fine at first but then suddenly it drained and did not start. I quickly got the unit out plugged it all in and car started first go within 20 seconds of plugging it in.

I highly recommend the 4000a unit. So far it has saved me twice.

  • +1

I purchased it 3 years ago. Its is pretty good. Helped my friends many times. Never used it for myself :))

  • +1

Does it work on people? Asking for a friend 😊

  • +1

I just got a refund on the GT1500 model. Used it once to jump start wife's car and since then can not achieve a full recharge.

    • Grayfox"

"Used it once to jump start wife's car and since then can not achieve a full recharge."

Sounds more like the condition of the car's battery to begin with prior to boosting. If you doubt me, get your car's battery and electrical system checked by a qualified auto electrician.

      • +1

The battery in the car was 7 years old and replaced after that jump start. But nothing wrong with the car. What I mean is the Gooloo would not fully charge after it was used for a jump start. I tried charging it with different types of chargers and the same result. Would drop back down to 1 or 2 bars straight after removing it. Could be just that I got a bad one, as most others have reported much better results.

  • Any recommendations for a decent one with a cigarette lighter socket included?

    Looking at these: https://www.jaycar.com.au/obd2-car-computer-plug-memory-save…

  • +1

I've got an older version of this, works great. I've rescued several cars with it now.

  • Can't wait til the Wireless SuperSafe version comes out.

  • +1

    Works great, highly recommended.

  • +1

I have this and used it multiple times on my car and worked always.

However, 2 weeks ago. My car battery was dead and it would not be revived by this.
I think my battery was just dead, it read 3V on my multimeter and had my battery replaced.

So this device works well to resuscitate struggling batteries but it won't revive a completely dead one.
    Any thoughts?

    • +5

3v is beyond dead for a car battery.

      • would it be worth to try trickle charing the battery with a car battery charger?
the battery is just sitting in my garage now.

        • You can try but it is probably too damaged now. Lead/acid batteries begin degrading as soon as they lose any charge -the 'prefer' to be fully charged at all times. Generally any lower than 10.8V, a 12Vcar battery is considered flat and will not start a car.

  • I got the 1500A version of this about 2.5 years ago. Never used it except for once a couple of weeks ago when my car had a flat battery due to lack of use. Easy to connect and started the car no problem.

  • +4

I used mine yesterday to start my work Ford Ranger 3.2L diesel. The instructions say to push the boost button and start the vehicle within 30 seconds but when I tried within 30 seconds it didn't kick over. I left it on for about 2 minutes and she booted right up. I already feel like i have gotten my moneys worth just from the first use.

  • Thanks OP, great deal and I've seen many of these deals come and go, finally decided to bite the bullet and get one for peace of mind :)

  • +1

Anyone on the edge about getting one, just do it. Might help you. might help someone else. Throw it in your glovebox.

  • Anyone know how to get 2 of these at that price?

Promo code only works once for me

    • 2 Amazon accounts?

  • Great unit, already been used twice to start others cars, a Ford Falcon 4L and the other an Isuzu of some sort.

Always follow the guidelines, these are to jump a flat battery, not crank over an engine multiple times that seems to be iffy. (I've seen another brand explode while a guy in a carpark was cranking it over repeatedly)

Good time to get two more for relatives Chrissy presents from me and other rother half's Amazon accounts.

  • Just be aware that this product goes down to 100 bux pretty regularly.

Seems this is a regular occurrence for gooloo.
