Meant to be a bit better than the Fiskars which generally break the plastic….not as easy to exchange though

      • I bought a hoselink one and it broke within about 10 minutes. They sent another one out without hassle but I should of just got a refund because the design is just poor it'll keep breaking. I havent bothered since they sent out the replacement

      • +1

fiskars have a limited lifetime warranty dont they?

plus bunnings, so easy to exchange or return broken stuff

        • Yes, very easy to exchange but the Fiskars is about $70 from memory

          • @whitelie: I paid around that much. Very easy to use.
It has lasted two years. Can be quite addictive once you start pulling out weeds.

            • @DoctorCalculon: Yeah, I've got the Fiskars as well….couldn't be bothered waiting for postage on a Hoselink one.
Very satisfying easily pulling bits of crabgrass out, that's for sure.

I think Costco also have a version available

      • I use a large flat head screwdriver and it gets everything. The trick is to stay on top of it, which has been a lot easier with wfh

  • The weed puller is great if you’ve got a heap of cape weeds or similar thick stem weeds, not great for bindi, clover etc

    • Any recommendations?

      • -3

Totally, go to your independent local hose and water fittings shop, talk to the employees. Spend what your budget can afford. Own the universal fittings for life.

    • +13

The longevity I've had with Hoselink in the past makes the value side of it a bargain. And you just throw in a click on connector with your order so you can use it with a "regular" hose fitting.

      • +3

The irony in buying an attachment to make it it a "regular" hose.

      • +1

I've used many attachments and fittings that have broken over the years. Or they leak. I think the standard some people are looking for is much lower. If you only turn the hose on once a month for 5 mins only over summer where you don't mind it leaking down your hand and on your feet etc and the occasional burst off is fine then sure you can get cheaper stuff that will do that. If you actually want it to perfectly seal, not break in 10 years, never burst off, and can even be left on just with the trigger gun at the end turned off without any drips, that's a different level of expectation.

Of the non-hoselink stuff, either getting crimped ends on a hose or buying the brass ones with a brass barb so you can use a metal hose clamp to tighten it on is the way to go to avoid burst offs. I've still seen the actual connection to the tap burst off on occasion though, even where the hose stays attached to its end. It's surprisingly hard and expensive to get quality these days.

The other thing that has cost me money hundreds is tap timers. They keep cracking or bursting internally for me after a year on my backyard tap that's fairly exposed to the elements. I've resorted to putting a box over the tap and timer to try to protect it from the elements. I've tried most of the timers at bunnings haha. Frustrating.

A true ozbargainer makes a decision based on a cost vs quality basis.

Hoselink is great quality with decent after sales service so when their gear is on sale it is, a bargain.

      My 2c.

      • -6

Sounds like marketing 101 to me. :-)

      • True Ozb usually follow like sheeps lol

    • +1

I agree with you, I never had issues with $30 hose with attachments. Unless you need it to pull a trailer. Hose link is yet a another business designed in Australia made in China and way over priced for its needs.

    NEWIN2021 $10 off $50 for new customers.

    • Thanks man

  • +1

Kamba is better than any weed puller. Quicker too.

    • +3

Not if you have buffalo lol
These weed pullers also make very light work crabgrass, summergrass, wintergrass etc the broadleaf herbicides won't touch.

      • +1

Agreed and at $41.68 it's not too badly priced at all with free shipping.

      • +1

Use bin-die which is bromoxynil and MCPA. Safe to use on Buffalo. I'm a greenkeeper.

      • Bow and Arrow is your best bet for normal weeds

For Crabgrass, summergrass etc i found it pulled out too much of my lawn (especially with SWB as it gets runners sometimes), so using a handweeding tool was better for me. As a pre-emergent, get on Spartan it will save you lots of hard work pulling

    • Kamba or Bin-die? Been using the later but open to change

      • What turf do you have?

        • Sir Grange Zoysia

          • +1

@Deezsavings: Rich boi eh? Classy. You can use kamba m on Zoysia. But both achieve the same result.

            • @maxwellish: Haha I had couch originally and it was just a disaster with weeds. Decided to get some nicer lawn when we returfed. Thanks for the tip, much appreciated. I'll stick with Bin-die for now.

I'd recommend getting the starter kit, otherwise if you get the hose only, you will need a tap adaptor and one for the trigger end. If you get the kit, it will screw straight on to your tap and be ready to go.

    • The thing is, if I need to take the gun off and connect the hose to my pressure washer, will this kit suffice or do I need something else?

      • +2

Throw one of these in while you're there

        • Thanks mate!

    • Just ordered it thanks mate

Wish they had some reels on sale

      • I bought the Aldi ones for $50 each in 2019, they are really good for the money, never had an issue. Sits in the full QLD sun year round and no fading or degradation of the plastic (so no need for a "Florida Palms" reel cover). Hose is very good quality too. The connections are easily changed or upgraded if you prefer Nylex or whatever.

      • Yep, was really hoping they'd do sitewide or include reels. I need two :(

  • +3

Chuck a hose reel on sale

  • Any deals on Gatorade bottles?

  • +3

i got hose in different postcodes

    • +4

      area codes*

    • Under rated

    • Well it's on sale and the Hortex one they based theirs off is no longer available, so probably….Otherwise just use an old seasol bottle, put your liquids in, fill the rest up with water and hose it out.

      • Good idea, thanks

  • Any deals on gatorade bottles? Asking for a friend

  • +2

I would love to try out hoselink, but because no reels on sale I wont (I need 4 at my place).
Shame no reels in this deal, I wont buy a hose by itself.

  • +3

I suggest buying the Hoselink Beginners Basic Pack instead of the waterwise kit the website keeps suggesting. It’s cheaper and has an extra adapter.

    • i just bought the 30m Superflex Hose, should i buy the beginners basic kit or request a refund and starters kit instead?

    • I Bought https://www.hoselink.com.au/products/superflex-garden-hose-p…, do I need the basic pack or connector?

      • +2

No, the basic pack is if you were putting their fittings on your own hose. You have everything needed to use the hose and gun but you'll need an adaptor if you want to use it with say a sprinkler or pressure washer or whatever that has the regular clip on connector

  • +4

Not sure about you guys, but I really dislike Hoselink. The connector is proprietary connector and basically you will need their connector to connect any thing that is not Hoselink branded. And you can't easily get the connector on the market too - will have to order from Hoselink sellers.

    I hate it. So inconvenience.

    • I guess the design is so that it doesn't leak and it's patented, it depends on your mains pressure if this is an issue or not really.

  • +7

Another thumbs up for the hoselink system.

Lost count of how many hose connectors I've tossed out over the years because they start to leak or fail. And it's not just the cheapo plastic ones either but even the brass connectors you pay a premium for.

I've seen the Hoselink ads many times and thought nothing of it but only finally decided to give their connectors a try when I grew sick and tired of the connection to my Gerni car pressure washer failing.

After some google research I bought the Hoselink beginners pack and replaced the water connector on my Gerni pressure washer with the Hoselink one. Hooray - no more leaks and have replaced all the connectors on my hoses as a result.

    Bloody brilliant system.

Ohh and all those whining about it being a proprietary system. Seriously get a grip. It is Aussie designed and it works where every other connector system doesn't. And there is surely a premium for decent old fashioned service.

The Chinese rip off copies that aren't nearly as well made and will leak within a few uses will come soon enough but until then I reckon the people who designed this deserve to get a return on their investment and for their premium made product. Don't like it then stick to the bs cheaply made click connectors that drives everyone mad after a while.

    • +2

Totally agree - it's the ONLY system I've used where it's totally leak-proof and flawlessly hot-swappable. After dipping the toe in the water with this mob, have embraced their system even more and not a single regret. Their gutter cleaner 'wand' is a godsend. No more having to regularly climb up ladders to find other brands disconnect right when your press the nozzle gun. The spray attachment is a ripper for lawn/weed applications and washing the car. Worth EVERY cent.

  • Possible to use this as a hose extension? I have 15m but need another 15m. I didn't buy a long one since I hate the kink! Thanks.

    • Yep, just join them up, no male to male joiner required like "regular" hoses

      • Thanks mate, which connector should I use? And can I connect this hose with regular hose? Thanks

        • You'll need this to convert it to a normal hose fitting and then a male to male joiner from Bunnings or somewhere

  • Anyone facing issue with Afterpay payment method?

  • I have hoses stiff as a board during cold winter mornings. They are very hard to unwind or roll up. This hoselink will stay flexible?

  • +2

Superflex Garden Hose + Starter Kit is OOS :( Anyone knows if they will be stocking it up before sale ends?

    • +1

Yes, I noticed the same thing a couple of days ago but they are back in stock now!
The starter kit as well as the starter kit + the wall hanger is in stock, and both 20m and 30m sizes.

    • Back in stock now and just ordered.

    • My man! Thanks for the heads up lads…Got the 20m hose + Starter Kit :)

  • Wish the reel was on sale!

  • +1

I ordered a starter pack, and two weeks later I've received two packages from them and yet am unable to use even the hose, because they haven't sent the universal tap connector yet. Everything could have been placed in the box with the hose, so why not just wait until they have everything in stock, instead of sending one by one and leaving the all important tap connector till last! Crazy! Maybe I'll be able to use my new hose by the end of summer… here's hoping!

    • +1

Don’t worry same goes for me. Something about new system etc etc. I’ve had to email them to get them to post the rest out. Didn’t think it would be this painful. Unfortunately I recommended to others I know to order stuff at the same time… so they hate me now haha

    • +1

      Same here.
Received 2 parcels and still missing the Universal Tap Connector (order is still marked as "Unfulfilled").

I assume they have more than one distribution centre.

    • +1

Same thing. I didn't check the order status, but just looked inside the box and it was missing the universal tap connector so I sent them an email. We will see what happens!

      • +2

        Yep same thing here.

I emailed them regarding the universal tap connector and their reply was that "one has been reserved and is being prepped to be sent out to you".

Ok so that means I'll get it, but I don't know when it will be sent out or when I'm expected to receive it.

This is my first time buying and dealing with Hoselink and I'll be blunt and say I'm not impressed at all with their customer service.
Since purchase, there has been no communication as to when my package was sent out or what items I can expect in a package etc. No communication at all.

        Not impressed.

        • +2

It's now over a week since they replied to my email and told me they would get the tap connector in the mail the next day. Very sloppy service. Hopefully it will arrive eventually and I'll actually be able to use my new hose. And fingers crossed the quality of the product greatly surpasses their order fulfilment process!

  • Must be slammed with orders as mine from Nov 22nd is still marked as Unfulfilled

    • Follow up, received Wed 8th Dec

      • +1

Lol just make sure you got everything, these guys don't communicate and send only half stuff sometimes

        • +1

Yeah, this company is s$it. Products may be okay but fulfilment centre run by a bunch of muppets. Stuff left out of orders all the time. An unfortunate bit of Hosestink.

          • +1

            @fookos:

            Hosestink

            I lol'ed.

But yes I agree. I'd be ok with them leaving stuff out if they at least had the courtesy to keep us updated. But the fact that they didn't seems very deceptive.

  • Update: just got a tax invoice in the email for the universal tap adapter at $0.00. Not sure if this indicates they have shipped it or not

    • Same here.
The order is still marked as "Unfulfilled".

    • +1

I received the Universal Tap Connector today (in mailbox).
All items have now been received.
