For those wondering, they resell Optus.

Thanks, what I wanted to know!

Thanks, now I know to avoid it…

    • Legend cheers!

  • This looks good but I can't find any info re. contract lengths etc.

BTW Aussie Broadband is excellent for the NBN. Their support is first class. Highly recommended. I have been with them for over a year now - really impressed.

      No lock-in contracts

Problem is the carrier they onsell is subpar. Even in the office where we sign up 6000+ number, the coverage can be patchy.

I have an existing phone plan with Aussie Broadband. I spoke to support yesterday and asked if I can get a new service with this offer and port my number across. They said yes.

  • 3 months free… good
Taking away international talk and text… not so good

From what I can tell, this is pretty much identical to Optus' current SIM only plans but they've taken away Unlimited standard International Talk & Text, Optus Sport and OS Fitness.

    • You are right, the 5G plans are not great, you are right they are the same price as the Optus retail plans with less features.

But the 4G plans are good value if you don't need 5G.

  • Is there a limit 1 per customer or something.
I wanted to order one for me and one for the wife.
Also will this be direct debit as is their broadband.

    • Nothing in the T&C's to exclude multiple SIMs but maybe your wife won't count as an existing customer.

*An existing customer is defined as an individual who is the legal owner of an active service with Aussie Broadband at the time the offer is applied.

  • Do they have roaming options?

  • +2

No number porting option on the order page?

    • In the FAQ at the bottom of the black friday page there is "Can I keep my existing phone number?" to which the response is:

"Yes! Once you have received your SIM, you will have the option to bring your current number over to us.

Simply activate your SIM here, or call our friendly customer support team on 1300 880 905, and you will be presented with the option of porting your number.

Please note: if you are thinking of switching from another provider and are currently in a contract, we recommend checking with them for charges associated with ending your current contract early."

  • Presumably you could port out after 3 months and get 3 months free?

    • Yes

  • Not available on eSIM unfortunately. Would have been a great offer to have as a backup on the phone - did that with Gomo when traveling with great success

    • Hello mate, did you travel within Australia or Overseas? Asking as the CIS says international roaming is not supported and that’s what I need :(
      Thanks!

      • Just in WA. Surprisingly there are places Optus is significantly better than Telstra, like Karijini National Park and other spots along the coast. Having both carriers I just flick the data services on the phone to best reception/service allowing me to work while on the road!

  • I'd assume the sim card from the 5G plan can be used in a 4G device, is that right?
Why is the 200GB 5G plan cheaper than the 100GB 4G plan?

    • one has data rollover, the other doesn't maybe?

    • That is quite surprising.

So update i called ABB they advised its for as many services as you want. I wanted one for me and one for my partner and i can have both on the one account both credited. Might order 2 more sims for the fun of it.

    • Thank you!
