My mouse is on the way out and this looks like a good deal. Not the cheapest ever and not the latest version but by all accounts still a very good mouse!

Yeah I've got one. Had to pull it apart to fix the thumb button (known issue), but still working great and have had for a number of years.

    • Same. Stuck down. Now have gaffa tape over it!

    • The plastic casing on my thumb button / where my thumb rests has cracked open and a whole chuck has fallen off! No idea how that happened - I don't even use the thumb button! lol (Also a dent between the scroll wheel and the button…must have got knocked when I was carrying it in my laptop bag!)

But aside from looking like it has lived through a war, the mouse is otherwise still great! :)

      • +1

Same, gaping hole on the thumb button. Doesn't really bother me since thumb is always gripped

        • Oh me too. Mine's been through the ringer though. First stopped tracking so pulled it apart and loosened screw. Kind of stuffed the glide pads because of course I did so grabbed a master 2 on sale. lasted longer same issue. Got that one from amazon so full refund. Im currently using the first one plugged in (assuming disuse did a number on the battery).

These threads have brought up some problems with scroll wheel on 3 so im not sure what to grab. There are some good deals on ebay and kogan for master 3 but if I'm expecting issues I'd rather go the amazon route or buy the jb keys/mouse pack so I have a reliable business if issues do crop up.

the M720 was also suggested. Anyone have experience with both?

          • @xentar: I had this one until recently at home. Had for probably close 5 years before I had the thumb button stuck issue, tried to fix it and disconnected the battery by breaking the connector! Needless to say it never went back together again. The plastic also broke away around the thumb and I just gave up on trying to get a fix for it. I did however see you can get complete new enclosures for those wanting to do a refurb.

I've also being using a M720 at work and actually find it a much better fit in the hand along with more accessible forward/back buttons compared to V1 of the master. The battery also last forever been a AA. I do miss the automatic fast scroll but the M720 can do it manually when I have a real need for it. I've since bought a second M720 for home use.

I've also used a V3 and find that very uncomfortable in comparison to both of the above. Although they did fix the forward/back buttons.

            • @cubiq4: @cubiq4 haha you did one better than me in your repair mission. As for the buttons I've become so used to them Im actually slow using mouse 4 and 5 on my gaming mouse. Im sure I could get used to either because I wasnt a fan for quite a while but ive lived with these replacing/fixing since the first one released.

As for comfort that intrigues me. I have very large hands - I claw grip gaming mice and sigh when using portable ones. Do you think it would be comfortable given that? I think I'll try it out anyway tbh.

Also the scroll wheel seems to have click or spin modes by the picture - do you mean you need to push a button to switch modes instead of just spinning the wheel?

              • +1

@xentar: Yes you have to click the button on the M720 to swap between modes.

Looking at this picture I think I could say I've got a palm grip with the master and a tip grip with the M720. I find the additional ergonomics of the master to be fatiguing as there is little room for movement, counter intuitively the further improved ergonomics on the V3 are even worse for me. I would say I've got small hands though.

                • @cubiq4: If I'm gaming or doing lots of moving (selecting a bunch of files or cells in a spreadsheet for example) I tend to palm. Probably claw if its a twitch shooter so maybe handsize is the main factor. Im still going to pick it up though. $45 cant go wrong. Now I need to get in touch with JB. see if I can cancel the master 3/ keys and wrist thing (the keys sold out on amazon and ebay so I jumped. Now logitech and I think bing lee have them for the same price). Last thing I need is to waste money on a less comfortable mx master. I might pickup the $60 one on amazon as well if I cant find a good price on an mx master 2,

I expect logitech to launch a 4 or a new line soon. Hopefully they get the qa problems sorted out though and make a good design.

Did you ever use the mx anywhere?

    • Yeah I had this known issue back 2 years ago, after about a year of ownership.. I actually forgot that I even had it all that time ago. It's been rock solid since then.
Note that this is the v1 mouse and it's up to v3 now, but the v3 will set you back more.. however, the v3 is a much nicer mouse too!

  • Love my one

  • This model has a really tiny battery, I'd suggest go for master 2 at least. I remember I was having to charge it every 5-7 days. also an issue with master mx and mx 2 is that the rubber on scroll wheel starts going bad after 1 year or so, they seem to have resolved it with mx master 3 with the whole metal scroll wheel. I am using my master 2 without the scroll wheel rubber and it doesn't feel as nice as it used to (controversial statement some would say)

    • I've used it at least 8 hrs a day since last year, when I got it.

Last time I charged it was more than a month ago and I did it only because I thought it might be going flat since I couldn't remember when I'd charged it the previous time.

      • +1

their biggest selling point when they released master 2 was logi flow and longer battery life, good that your battery is exceptional but I had similar experience to a lot of other users which is why I upgraded to master 2.

  • Surely this can't be brand new, where are they getting stock from after so many years ?

    • +1

I bought it last year, It's a special Amazon Edition MX Master. Sensational mouse.

      • Me too. Experienced the tracking issue a few months ago and amazon support gave me a refund. I'm not sure what the mx master 3 adds so I might just do the same and hope to get a few years like my first one.

  • +2

    For $60 this is a steal. +1

    • +1

bought for $48.48 last year :)
Still working great and loving it

  • the thumb button configuration made me sell it for this price without using it

    • After using the mx 1000 and m950 I thought that would be a bigger issue but I got used to it fairly quickly. I use mouse 4 and 5 heavily and outside of spamming just kind of thumb tilt. Probably not for everyone as you found but worth a try. I find my m4/5 on my g903 much slower to switch between though that likely come back to using the mxmaster far more.

What mouse did you ultimately choose?

  • -1

There's still v1's floating around? Not sure about this listing. Viewing the product on UK site comes up as "Special Edition" variant, Used: Like New. Only quantity of 2 selectable on AU, only 2 left in stock on UK so I'm assuming its the same thing.

  • Does this from Amazon UK qualify for the $10 gift Amazon gift card for purchase over $49?

  • Is this the 1st gen? 2nd or 3rd?

    • +1

      1st gen

      • 1st gen has been over 5 years ago I believe?
surprisingly there are still stocks available in the market

        • They are special edition that are likely re-made. The box is basic and says "for amazon" on it.

The original mouse has the older Logitech logo on it unlike the one being sold by amazon. I have the original one and it is still going strong, just had the scroll issue which is easily fixable as others have noted.

  • with mx master 3 having gone as low as $80+, this seems expensive

  • +1

For mx master 3, the running deal on ebay is $149 * 75% = $111.75

    Cannot find better deal now.

    • Wheres the mx master 3 deal?

        $149 * 75% = $111.75
using APBF25 for ebay plus and afterpay.

        • Doh i don't have ebay plus

          • @Homr: If not ebay plus, go to mwave for $119 deal, and could be with $30 discount for afterpay new customer.

  • Ahh, I miss pre-COVID pricing! The MX Master 2S hit $47.20. Probably no chance of that happening for the next year or three at least.

  • Amazing product. Use it everyday, and even for gaming.

  • Available again now.

    • Available on and off several times today, but now it's $114, so it looks like the fun is over.

      • $66.92 and back in stock ATM.
