    • I had to find how to add the PPPoE details to my router, then restart the router a couple times before it got going.

      • Im on fttp

        • You still need to add the PPPoE login. In my case, I do it through Windows, but if you're using a router, then you will need to add them there.

          • @[Deactivated]: You guys are legends, its working now. Thank you very much

But I'm very curious, howcome I never had to enter my username and password when I was with Kogan and Superloop?

Did a speedtest and I'm kinda disappointed. Download speed is not any faster than my superloop 250/20

            https://www.speedtest.net/result/12410213163

            Shit pings too

@Homr: No problem. Good to see you got it working.

I've never used Kogan, but Superloop use IPoE, while Swoop use PPPoE. It has nothing to do with being FTTP, it's just the method used to connect.

My speed and latency are okay, but it's dropping out constantly. The longest it has stayed connected is 6 mins.

              • @[Deactivated]: ahh ok, so I'm guessing better ISPs use IPoE?

Can't complain since its free but superloop seems more responsive and snappier

                • +1

@Homr: From memory, the better ones do, yes. PPPoE tends to be more the budget variety like Vocus resellers. Of course many junk providers like Belong also use IPoE. So it's not always true.

                  • @[Deactivated]: Thanks, that's good to know now

I always thought FTTP you just plug the router in and off you go without having to enter in username/password

Will keep IPOE vs PPPOE in mind next time when I sign up with a new ISP in 2months haha

              • @[Deactivated]: Kogan use IPoE, I've used them in the past.

              • @[Deactivated]: Sounds like a PPPoE issue if it's dropping out. I'd call up tech support. It was happening with me when I tried Exetel out as they use PPPoE.

                • @Futura: I opened a ticket. They claim my PC is disconnecting itself, and suggest I buy their modem to try and fix it. I was using PPPoE all last month without issue, so I don't think it's my setup. Possible I suppose, but in that case I'm not sure how what I'm using is any different to last month, or the many previous ones I have used.

                  • @[Deactivated]: I also tried a Telstra Gen 2, and at 6 mins in the connection died, exactly as it does using Windows 10 to create the connection.

                    • @[Deactivated]: Did you put the PPPOE user/pass in the Telstra Gen 2 broadband PPPoE Settings page?

                      • -1

@ValuexHunter: Yes, it wouldn't connect without doing that.

Signed up last Friday for the 1000 plan. Have not heard anything from Swoop. Based on the comments above, I should not expect to be contacted. Very poor showing…

They phoned me, and Drift, but others have called them and sped up the process.

    • +1

You can also email them and they'll call you. But yeah it's certainly not as seamless as other ISPs.

Having to talk on the phone in this day and age? Balderdash.

  • Still haven't been connected. Will have been since the 27th ish since I placed the order. They told me it's with NBN to be connected.

Long story short it's FTTP and AussieBB or Launtel can provision in minutes. Either they are delaying it or they are incompetent. I am going to wait them out, use the 2 months for free and then churn.

And they deserve it. Their service has been atrocious, I'm not asking for much I mean just NBN in 5 days or less?

They do each order manually. They don't order it directly from NBN co. If it makes you feel better, Voda, Telstra and Exetel are worse and take longer. Exetel do payment checks, which can take a week. Voda and Telstra do ID checks which can take weeks. Voda took six weeks to actually get back to me from the time of ordering. Voda are bad.

Aussie took their sweet time. Despite ordering at a future date multiple times, it still took them ten hours to actually turn it on.

The first time I used Superloop, again to connect at a future date, they turned it on at midnight on that date, perfect. The next time it also took hours, until the middle of the day.

The first time I used Launtel, it was connected within minutes. They have had some issues where it takes longer though, but usually only hours, not days.

      • Just upgraded my router to WIFI 6 using Huawei AX30 AX3000

bit better results from my Asus router
https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/networking/modems-&-rout… This result is from my laptop in my bedroom

If I use my phone right next to the router, I get 520down and 39up which is impressive but I can't move my router any closer.

1000/50 does seem nice, but too much effort and cost to take full advantage of it if you're using WIFI at home

    • Have you called them up?

      • +1

Yep, 2 days after the order (got told the sales team was busy and only worked 9-5) and they called me back the next day. Then claimed the 1000/50 offer was invalid. Then I called today after another 2 days without provisioning. Tech Support guy was nice but nothing he could do.

So total 3 contacts which in reality should be a zero-touch process. They are wasting so many labour hours and damaging their reputation simultaneously.

  • Got the 1000/50 plan honoured after calling to confirm my order.

Latest connection date is 6th December which is fine, all things considered.

+1 for customer service, spoke to Leigh.

    • Why don't you just use a ethernet cable?

      • My room doesn't have an ethernet port 😪

  • Has anyone got IPv6 to work with Swoop? Their portal has PD address and I was able to get a DHCPv6 client to bound but can't figure out what I am missing yet

  • Nice. Just got connected today with 1000/50 for 2 free months 💪🏽

  • My upload speed was great on 100/40 (about 36), but I got changed to 1000/50 and now my upload is like 16. Hmm…

  • When someone churns after two months, it would be good to know the date they churned as you can only pick the 1st of each month as the cancellation date on the website. Calling is painful as you'll be on hold forever so its not clear if you can cancel on a particular date and not have to pay for the next month or a get a pro-rata refund.

  • Lucrative offer but turned out it was more than what they could chew.

I placed order on 28 November, got call on 3 December with same crap”can’t do 1000, can do 100” but then ended up agreeeing to 1000 plan.

No progess till 15 December, contacted them on 15 Dec complaining about the delay and asking them to cancel my order. Again no progress till I followed them up on 22 December. The rep had no clue or explanation on what was going on and had no intention of retaining customer. Finally got confirmation on 22 December that my order has been cancelled as requested.

So in a nutshell, these guys were a total waste of time. I get it they must have received many orders with this free 2 months offering, but if they can’t back it up, they are earning negative publicity. I am glad I decided to go to Future Broadband, great experience with them so far.
