  • High Website Traffic Volumes????
Am on pressing F5 F5, too many people

    • +2

Just like a real catch-a-thon! You know your business is down the toilet when you emulate crash of the day.

    • Don't press F5, it just reloads the error page. When I retyped the site it loaded.

However, it's just crashed all together now. WOO!

And SingStar 'Take That' edition was available. Highly sought game!

    • pressing F5 wont work on that page. you need to press back.

  • G27 is still $499. Looks like yesterdays deal could have been a pricing error.

  • once its in the basket is it safe to keep browsing? other $5 shipping adds up!

    • No, not safe til after check out, or we'd all have g19's

  • Some stores are not showing on the list? Any idea why?

  • +2

Guy's not to worry, there wasn't that much on the online store that was actually in stock, even at 7.45 when I had a look. I picked up Deus Ex HR and Resistance: Retribution for $11 total but there was practically nothing else of great value that was still in stock. Couple PC games for $15 but honestly you will see better prices in steam sales so I didn't bother. Now to line up at the shop and see how I go getting a PSP and DSi + some games :)

    • Meet you there ;)

  • OzBargain DoS attack ——-

Our website is experiencing high traffic volumes at present.

To ensure that customers already on our site have a great experience we limit the total number of shoppers all buying at once, so think of me as your friendly bouncer :)

Most customers only shop for around 5 minutes, so please try reloading the page by clicking here.

Alternatively, try refreshing your browser by pressing CTRL+R (Windows) or COMMAND+R (Mac).

THE SITE IS DOWN FOR THE COUNT

  • and site is ozbargained, good show people :)

  • Yep confirmed high traffic

  • Damn it's incredibly slow !

  • ATTACK!!!

    All over red rover!

  • Mobile Site works fine fyi ;)

    • +1

      but can't buy on mobile site. Also got the error on it just before too :}

  • theres like 10 things

    • You have to search for the other stuff that are reduced

  • I got dick…..well….nothing actually.

  • It has began…

    • +1

      It ended before it began.

  • Site getting hammered!

  • Did anyone manage to snatch a console?

  • If you're only trying to find out which store has stock use the online website, it's not lagging for me. You can only check stock and maybe make a click and collect though.

    edit: beaten above

edit 2: nvm mobile site is hammered too now

  • mines just crashing without error now.

  • Sale started before 8. Stock availability changes within minutes (had the TH Ride in my cart which is no longer available). Seems like the mighty list may have gotten a few things wrong too.
Good luck trying to find a good deal!

  • +3

You know whats funny, theres nothing worth it on the site and people still havn't realised it :)

  • Yeah there isn't much online, probably best for people to head to the stores.

  • LOL

  • I give up!

  • What a surprise, website has full crashed at 8.00am.

Gee, never would have expected that to happen…NOT!

  • Well, ordered AC:Revelations at least on PC. $15, seems that people aren't jumping on it yet. G19 is gone obviously, and in my searches for good items I didn't find anything else for delivery. To the stores mateys!

    • Alas, AC:Revelations PC was one of a couple i was after. Just missed it - couldn't get on to site. Oh well, hopefully all those who did get it enjoy it - and actually wanted it; didn't just get caught up in the idea of a sale and snatch at something they'll never use.

  • I missed my express bus for this~!!! Time for work now…:P

  • site is completely frozen @ 8:05 dont think people realise everything that was worth getting got sold out before the sale started…

  • +11

They should get their 'techsperts' to fix their site :)

  • well played dick, well played

  • +2

why set a bloody sale if staff buys it all - they should have advertised the sale to staff members in the beginning - this sale has tarnished and stained any confidence I had left with DS in the future the owner who organised this sale is a DICK

  • +1

    fail sale.

  • What are you guys ordering online? There's nothing left lol.

  • yer. so I guess it's pointless now. It crashes, there's no queing system, so kind of hard to do anything.

  • hardly the games listed here are available or showing in the list, might as well go instore.

  • Argh Lame -__-

  • I got these:

    PC Rage $15.00
    PCDVD Final Fantasy XIV$15.00
PC Warhammer 40K Space Marine $15.00
Wii uDraw Dood's Big Adventure $5.00
PC Deus Ex Human Revolution $10
Wii Need For Speed The Run $15
    Xbox360 Rise Of Nightmares $15.00

I don't have either xbox or wii. LOL

    • +1

Those arent cheaper than they sometimes become

    • I know some are expensive but I got no time to research. Don't even know why i buy it. Maybe I am just addicted to rush hour bargain.

  • why is red dead still $50?

    • not sure webpage seems to be working fine, no glitches , now where's my sarcastica font button :)

  • +6

    DSE Stock: Dicks Myth

  • I cannot even get to the high traffic page.

  • I don't understand :S on my screen (and I've refreshed plenty of times) it's still saying that the G19s are available :S - price hasn't updated yet though.

What have I done wrong >_>

  • +1

This is worst than the MWave dodgy deals.

  • Anyone have a list of the stores not participating in the sale?

  • And i rushed around for this…. lol

Ohwell i'll try my luck in store

I dont even go this fast when im late for work :)

  • over it, cya later!

  • Oh, finally updated for me. GG

  • I like how overnight, dsi's at my local have gone from In Stock (not even short on stock) to out of stock, an hour before DSE even opens.

    • they update their database at 2am

  • Gave up… going to try the local store shortly

  • +2

what a waste of time. not even going to bother going in store.

  • +4

Took away my positive vote. Nothing against the OP, it's just this really wasn't a deal in the end. Not only did the online site have next to nothing stock, but the REP provided the wrong starting time. They repeatedly said all you need to know was the FB link, which stated "Online the sale will commence at 8AM AEST". That was wrong.
I understand that stock levels were only clearance, but I wish they had started the sale only when they said it was going to be started.

  • I think this was a big marketing move from dick Smith, and the leak was intentional to create hype.

  • +1

if you advertise a time to start it should not be stared like half an hour before.
and i had something in my cart, it was in stock. i go to pay with paypal then when it goes to pay it goes back to dick smith website and says i have nothing in cart.

what the hell? this is shit.

  • I don't care if this was all we get as long as the xbox version of driver was also on special dam it!

    • I saw the Collector's Ed. for $40.

  • Got into the site..Pretty useless online sale.

  • Apparently 20 ppl lined up at Sydney CBD store already lol

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1456968&p…

  • I have the day off and I don't even think I will bother with instore. My local shows stock for Dsi and a couple f games I want but I think it will be a different story once I get there. Good luck everyone, let us know what you get!

    • It was a different story for me too. Yesterday DSi said "in stock" went to the store they said "no stock".

      • Dsi has actually gone from. "in stock" at my local to "out of stock" in the last hour. I guess staff are in now buying up. If anyone is planning to go instore I would be checking the stock level again before I bothered!

  • +2

lol, I don't know if it's my experience with Catch of the Day but I'm not raging like most people here, I'm used to treating bargains like a lottery :P

I still think it would have been nice if the sale started at 8am like stated, but that's just cause I was driving at the time it started and I dont like my chances of getting any bargains in store! Good luck guys!

  • -3

I think they told staff when to go online to snag all the deals.
Makes me want to be a lying, cheating, PoS staff member.
Would hate to work with all those stab you in the back staff that only cared about themselves and horded anything good all whilst telling customers lies, lies, and more dicky lies.

    FU Tricky Dicky.

  • I got on the website for a few minutes about half an hour ago and everything good was already sold out so I wouldn't bother trying people.

  • Starting to clear up now…takes like 2 mins to load a page, but working.

    edit: wait gone again…

  • +1

Crashing servers, no stock, Big Fail, just like their previous 1 hour deals.

    • -1

Major Fail - this sale makes me feel that they value their employees more - but who makes them money ??? THE CONSUMERS!!!!

  • dammit can't get into their website lol…so much for this sale …oh well

  • It is a dud. Nothing to get and the server keeps crashing.

  • everything even half decent is gone..

  • +3
    • LOL!

      Some people are riDICKulous!

    • I boycott by not being involved with facebook at all

  • Just rang the only store in Melbourne which had stock in what I wanted…people lining up outside and he, while helpful, couldn't offer any security. Sigh.

  • +1

Worst sale ever. They said it was going to start at 8 yet pretty much everything was gone when I jumped on at 7:50. What a waste of time.

  • The site is really dead now..

    Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

    • Narr. It's losing traffic. It's going to clear up soon I reckon, maybe another peak for those getting into work to check.

    • -1

Their server must be running on a notebook !!! So much for a "Tech Expert" !!

  • =(
