I just bought a $200 sim for $154 from auditech recently, would this be eligible for the 140gb data? I haven't activated it yet as I bought an optus sim to port out then in again.

Edit: went on the boost website, based on that it would appear so.

    • basically same deal but 50 cents less with this one

  • +3

Pretty much the same price as a bunch of other places, nothing new here eg: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/668693

If a retailer really considered their target market when posting here, they'd include a SIM from a different provider as part of the 'deal' so that existing Boost so that customers could port away from and then back to Boost.

    • +1

      Thank you for your comments.
We do consider everything as you just mentioned it depends if we are able to get good deals to offer an extra sim for free to our valued customers but it's not possible all the times and competition and margins are very tight these days.

  • Is this for new customers only?

    • +2

No. You can just chat with boost and ask them to transfer/port your existing boost phone into the new sim. Yes, I've done it before.

      • +4

        Is it a YMMV situation?

Sounds like existing customers can still use it even though it says starter pack, so essentially a recharge. Perhaps OP needs to clarify this in post??

      • Thank you for sharing the Boost customer service numbers.
We did mention in the Post that it's not a recharge voucher.
        It's a sim starter pack OF $200/$300.
A new customer can use it as well as the porting customers can use it too.
Porting customers is always considered as New customers even they port out and port back in.

        • When you port out of Boost, can you just port back in the same day?

    • yes or if someone wants to port their number over to Boost.

  • do you issue tax invoice/receipt?

    • yes of course.

  • +1

I’m with Kogan now…can I buy this and port my number?

    • +1

      Yes, you can.

  • I am with Boost atm, can I use a free GOMO sim to port out and then port back in to Boost as a new customer?

  • yes, you can.

  • Hi
Can I buy SIM card from shops and use the code to activate or port number over?

    • Buy $2 SIM card from seven eleven and use code t activate or port number to Boost I meant

      • You need any other network sim to port your number out and then port back in.

        • Can I buy $2 Boost SIM card from servo and activate that with above offer?

          • @Kayyyy: This includes a sim, it's in the title, check other threads about these port in and out deals

            • +1

@buttstuff: Maybe they don't want to wait untill mid/late next week or longer for post to arrive to start and use this deal.

  • +1

You can get 240GB for $109 with Catch.com.au

    • +1

Ongoing recharges revert to standard price of $150 with standard data of 120GB or as otherwise advertised.
Activate SIM within 30 days of purchase.

Also with Boost you get full Telstra Network plus unlimited international calls to certain countries.

        • +9

No one use international calls unless your like 90 + years old, we use something called unmm messaging app

Don’t assume that you don’t use it/ need it means no one uses it. I need and use to talk to my parents back home. And they are not 90+ . They know how to use messenger/ what’s app. Still I have been using boost for my peace of mind coz they at times don’t have access / know how to trouble shoot internet issues .
I am pretty sure there are people that use boost for the above reason as well.

          • +2

            @NPB: Spot on…
Honestly nothing compares to the full Telstra network for me in Sydney’s inner west.
Optus and all derivative virtual networks are intolerably problematic for me.
Therefore this card has the best value.

            • +1

@Z80: Yeah I hate Telstra as a company but I've been with boost for years because nothing compares to Telstra network

          • +2

@NPB: No doubt plenty of ppl use if only for backup. Plenty of places you get voice but poor data especially when travelling. Silly to imply otherwise.

  • +3

Fyi I called boost directly and they told me that MMS messages do not work and they have no plans to bring it back

    • +1

      Are you communicating with 2007?

      • Yeah pretty much (real estate agents!). they always want pictures sent by SMS.

      • +2

Its a bit like that… but on the flip side, very weird of them not to support it everyone else i have cycled through does.

        • Because they’re so blurry in MMS they can’t substantiate your claims?

    • +4

Yet the website says "UNLTD® Calls and Texts includes national calls and text (UNLTD® Calls and Texts includes national calls and text (SMS & MMS) to standard national numbers. ) "

    • +4

Is that on new accounts only? Because I text photos to colleagues on a regular basis.

      • +1

        +1 same.

    • +3

I just tested the mms on my boost SIM, still working, no problem sending out mms to another mobile number.

  • +1

    OOS :(

  • How many gb if you activate after February 2022?

    • +1

Standard amount as per the packaging. I think last year I got an extra 120gb as part of a promotion. So realistically, you want to hold out on an activation until sometime in January in case boost does one of their promos again

      • Extra 120gb on what pre paid plan?

  • Do boost have voice mail? Looking to leave vodafone now that my contract has expired.

  • +1

    No love for renewal?

  • Looks like both sim oos

  • Used to include free Apple Music streaming but apparently not for Australia anymore…..after I got a 12 month sim

    • +1

Are you sure it's chewing up your data? I am streaming Apple Music everyday in lossless quality and it hasn't cost me any. I rejoined boost on Oct this year.

      • I got mine in October too, doing about 3GB a month since and all I do is stream Apple Music and check emails really. Anything else I do at home on wifi. I did live chat them they said I don’t get it .

      • Maybe if you are exisiting customer, Apple Music will always be included in package during sign up.
I am guessing they have only recently removed Apple Music from the package, which will affect new customers only.

    • +1

Yeah, just bought a 12month sim because of the free Apple Music streaming, but apparently they recently removed it.

  • Out of stock

  • Will more stock be added?

  • +1

I ended up getting one from the link below since this deal was OOS.

    50c more

    • +4

I used this deal to price beat from Officeworks. Brought it down to $146

      • Doesn't OW include cost of postage?

        • Yes. Free shipping

      • Can you do that over the phone or does it have to be in store?

        • +1

Either. Needs to be a deal that's currently available though (not oos)

    • also OOS

  • Also available at https://www.simonline.com.au/products/Boost-$200-sim-card-p369814960
    For 50cents more

    • I think that's only 100GB, not 140GB

      • I would imagine all Boost $200 sim starter packs activated before 01/02/2022 would be

eligable for the bonus 40GB data as long as sim has not expired.

  • +1

I just using Boost app recharge the $200 plan only paid for $150, but only 100GB.

    • Still a bonus unexpected $50 saving for you which was nice yeah?

      • Yes, first time see Boost it self offering discount on existing customers. I was hoping they offer discounts on the $300 plan too, but unfortunately nothing.

  • if you have ebay plus, with the current ebay promo code plus 3% cashback from shopback ebay gift card, worked out around $151.10 for me

    • +1

Do you have a link.. is this the Boost store on Ebay? I couldn't see any promo code

      • +2

        only 2 left i think
with ebay code SPENDSVE or PLUSSANT it becomes $155.70
buy ebay gift card from shopback for 3% cashback to bring it down 3% further.

  • Do any of these 2nd level SIM card vendors have SIM cards with 5G network access? I think all Boost and Amaysim SIM cards are 3/4G?
What's the best way to get 5G data

    • +3

I've been looking around at this and really from what I can see, your choices are:

      Moose Mobile
Optus & Vodafone prepaid (buy discounted starter packs)

Spintel and Moose are postpaid but a lot cheaper than the big Telcos

  • Hey Rep
I was having trouble with checkout and sent you a DP.

  • Hey, I have ordered last weekend which dated back on 4th of December, and have not got my sim card since so far.

    where is my order?

    • Hi,
We have shipped all the orders for that date. Can you please send us a private message with your order number?
      Oz tech

  • Hey Oztechtrader support I've sent you an email a while ago about the 2 starter packs that I've ordered. I've only received 1 tracking number and when I've open the parcel it only have 1 starter pack.

  • how does boost and aldi vary? i know they are both telstra, but if i'm getting shit reception with aldi i'm going to get shit reception with boost right?

    • No. Aldi uses the Telstra wholesale network. Boost is part of Telstra, so it uses the full Telstra (excluding 5G).
