Suncorp Clear Options Platinum Credit Card: 130,000 Bonus Points after $3,000 Spend within 90 Days of Approval, $129 Annual Fee

1980

$511 of profit after meeting spend requirements

The details:
130,000 points
$129 p.a. annual fee
$6,000 min limit
1.25 points per dollar
Spend $3,000 in 90 days
New customers (no Suncorp credit card in the past 12 months)
Offer Expires 31/08/22

Suncorp has increased the bonus from 100k to 130k but has removed the half price first year annual fee. However, you actually end up with a bigger profit (from $426 to $511) because it's easier to cash out your points fully for woolies gift cards.

If redeeming for gift cards:
$500 x 1, $100 x 1, $20 x 2 in Woolworths gift cards, $640 total, with 250 points remaining.
$500 x 1, $100 x 1 in Coles gift cards, $600 total, with 8,650 points remaining.

Will be slightly less profit if you redeem for transaction credit.

    • I just redeemed my points for WOW GC today. Didn't have any issues.

Didn't realise they were stopping the GC redemption until I checked here.

I think there seems to be some confusion between Suncorp rewards program for all Suncorp customers to purchase gift cards at discounted prices, vs Suncorp credit card rewards program (redeem points for gift cards). My understanding is they are two separate things, and the closure of the gift card purchasing portal should not affect the credit card side of things.
If anyone has seen anything to the contrary, please share the info

  • I was being an idiot, spent for council rates and thought it counted as eligible payment, but as all of you knows it doesn't. So now had past 3 months, spent over 3k but can't get the bonus points. Contacted Suncorp via secure message to cancel the card and request for annual fees refund and luckily they approved. So I just waste my credit scores in this case, still ok not total loss.

    • Sorry to hear that, I wish they could be much clearer in what are considered "government charges" and what is not.

Just a question. What reason did you give to have your annual fee refunded?

      • Thanks mate. I was saying the eligible payments are little confused and I was misunderstood that. At first, I requested if they could extend the 90 days conditions but they said no. Then requested for annual fees reversal and they said no again. At last I ask them to cancel my card and surprisingly they said ok to reverse the fees. I shall receive a cheque for the amount of annual fees paid some time soon.

  • Anyone recently applied for this card? What do they ask for in terms of income proof? Applied for the 28 degrees card but had nothing but problems in terms of them accepting simple payslips from my employer's.

    • Just payslips worked fine for me.

  • Did anyone get their bonus 130k points? Just got my 2nd statement and pretty sure I have spent more than $3k on eligible transactions across the first 2 statements, I have 5k rewards points which equate to about $4k spend on eligible transactions (i.e. excluding government charges etc.) but didn't receive the bonus sign up points.

    • They usually take at least till the 3rd statement.

Reached min spend in first statement, paid in full as soon as statement issued, and had bonus points a few days later after paying the statement. Redeemed for $640 of Woolies gift cards today. Can confirm that the credit card rewards website is still very much alive and has Woolies amazon coles ebay etc, despite what it says in some of the comments here.

        • Thanks - can confirm I received the bonus points yesterday and have redeemed $670 worth of gift cards, I haven't paid for my statement though. Tbh crediting of points is the only thing Suncorp has done right, everything else like their sign up process, the broken mobile app and web browsing experience is an absolute mess. Probably will not sign up ever again.

If there are still several hundreds of points left after gift card redemption, don't forget to redeem those points for statement credit (i.e. Select and Credit).

100 points minimum for redemption, and the rate is 244 points for 1 dollar credit.

  • I believe this offer is still valid, I wonder why has this post been marked as Expired?

    • +1

Yep it's been extended to 31 August 2022. I'll see if I can get it re-enabled

  • Applied on Friday, got a call to confirm about my payslips, income etc. Got approved on Monday :)

  • Has anyone received a fixed payment option offer with the bonus gift card? My other Citi backed cards got it but not this one.

  • Thanks OP - positive experience with earning 54k krisflyer miles on this card. 5 weeks from initial application to account closure

  • Does anyone know if this card and a separate NAB C.C would be considered different so as to get bonus signup points with both banks?
