Seems like a really good deal for anyone that is looking for a good productivity laptop for work. The eBay listing has the RRP for $2499 and is marked almost 50% off before the added -$100 coupon. I understand that Dell regularly has 20% coupons but the markdown still seems quite high for this feature rich laptop.

  • the 12 gb ram is odd but looking online seems to suggests you can upgrade the ram easily. Good deal imo

      13, 15 or 17 would be odd

      12 is perfectly even

4GB soldered and 8GB on a stick most likely.

  • This or https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/670861 for a boy starting high school next year?

    • They are both good, but I'd probably lean to the lenovo instead if the 2-in-1 benefit isn't useful for school.

    • Does he like doing art? This isn't worth the extra $275 unless you think he'll enjoy drawing on the display.

      • He actually does like drawing. I imagine a stylus can be used with this, and if so which one?
Is it pretty much the screen which is worth the ~$275 difference. i.e. are these pretty comparable in specs/performance/quality?

The AMD CPU in the Lenovo is a lot better then the Intel CPU in this Dell.

Lenovo screen is also a lot better with 2560×1600 display vs 1080p.

The PRO chassis in the Lenovo is considered business grade vs the consumer grade chassis of the Dell.

Lenovo has a bigger battery 71wH vs 53wH

Only get the Dell if you need a 2in1. Otherwise you are wasting money on an inferior product.

I would go for the 14" of the Lenovo if it is going to be lugged to school every day (1.4kg vs 1.9kg).

Can be had for around $1k from the Edu store.

  • This was 1099 during Black Friday deals and was there for whole week. It was on EOF sale too. I believe it will be on sale again on Boxing Day.

The rrp of dell is a joke. For that kind of money I would go for their premium XPS model

    • Agree to the above post. You could have got the XPS i7/16gb/512gb for 1499 in the Black Friday deal. The i5 model with the same specs was also available for 1399

    • RRP is for business market.

  • Nicely stacks with Amex $100 offer when buying at dell.com.au and have activated offer on your cc. I bought it when SB's 16% cashback promo was on during BF event and used the Amex offer too.
