YouTube Premium via Argentina: ARS $119/Month (Single ~A$1.65/Month, Family ~A$2.48/Month, VPN Required only for Registration)

6830

Resharing again after 6 months for those unaware of this workaround to score YouTube Premium at a fraction of the normal price (with full credit to HiDave for the original find). Personally been on this plan for over 18 months and works flawlessly with 28 Degrees MasterCard (no fees). Please stay safe, and enjoy :)

Very straightforward process:

  1. Use a VPN to connect to an Argentinian server (required only for registration).
  2. Open an incognito browser window.
  3. Sign up via the main link in this post (or here).
  4. If an Argentinian address is requested, use this link and Google the postcode.
  5. Pay with a card that has no foreign exchange fees.
  6. Enjoy the full benefits of YouTube Premium.

    • I remember turkey had a good price a few months ago, maybe worth a try

  • Cancelled my Australian family premium membership plan last night and just signed back up with the link and instructions in the post. Same Google account. Used free trial of Tunnelbear for VPN. Worked perfectly with 28 degrees as payment method. Seems to be all fine. Now need to add the wife back in as family plan member. Am guessing she'll need to be logged in with VPN in private browser window to accept. Fingers crossed.

    • Because I had disconnected from VPN with my host account and was logged back in to YT premium from Australia, wife did not need VPN on to accept family invitation. In fact, having VPN on gave the "Looks like you're in a different country than the family manager" error. Turned VPN off, invitation acceptance worked.

Let's see how long this lasts!

      • +1

I upgraded existing Individual (Argentinian) Membership to Family (Via VPN).
        - I then turned off VPN logged into my Youtube account and sent an invite. When joining, it fails with "Looks like you're in a different country from the family manager"
        - I also tried with VPN On and also got the same message. I tested sending the Invite with VPN on and then joining with VPN on. Same issue.

Can somebody, remind me please (save me re-reading all this thread again). How does one do it again?

  • Thanks TA. Signed up the family. Used ING debit card and PIA VPN.

Adblocker YouTube works for me. No ads at all on Windows computer using Google Chrome and the addin.

    Cost is $0.00

    .

    • +4

That's fine for PC use. One however can't use Adblocker on Smart TVs that come with Youtube or Google Chromecast TV etc.

  • It worked well for me but I invited people and they can't join my google family because it says they are in the wrong region. Am I doing something wrong?

    • +3

Yes, you needed to have invited them to join (and had them accept) the family group before you signed up in Argentina

      • +1

This is correct. Leave existing family members in place, or get them invited and accepted, before the VPN based sign up.

      • Thanks

      • That's not true. I've been able to constantly add and remove family members while in sub. I just had that message appear just now while trying to add someone and what I did was turn VPN off and the error message disappeared, and the person was successfully added.

  • Is there any free VPN app for iphone users?

    • Just use your PV or Mac for setup. VPN is not required on iPhone when setup.

Does anyone know if google credits is accepted as a form of payment?

  • I had heard about this method and tried it today, because I just got my hands on a vpn and,,, it worked like a charm. Thanks so much.

  • Does anyone know how much is currency exchange fee on Mastercard debit card?

  • awesome, worked a treat

  • Here is a page comparing YTP prices across countries last year. Does anyone know of an updated version? Or do we have a wiki page for it? (of all streaming services, perhaps)

  • can someone confirm if $2.48/mth family is for each member? or is it $2.48/mth divide by 6?

    • +1

It's $2.48/mth divide by 6 as long as you Pay the $2.48 :-)

  • When I click on Get youtube premium it says theyll charge $11.99 canadian dollar per month Im on Argentinian server with VPN
    what am I doing wrong?

    • Try a different VPN as perhaps the server they connected you to is not in Argentina. You can do an IP lookup and check if your IP is Argentina.

  • I finally used a free VPN account associated with a website I subscribe to and signed up to You Tube Premium Argentina for ARS 119 per month…took 5 minutes….oh the first 4 months are free as well! Many thanks to the OP for making it so easy to do. Now can watch You Tube without the annoying ads.!

    • Funny, I never got any 4 month free offer and only 2 weeks. Did it apply by default or did you need to click on the offer somewhere (as a matter of interest only)?.

  • Confirming I also used a free VPN account (CyberGhost) and signed up to YouTube Premium Argentina for ARS 119 per month. First 7 days seems to be free. Awesome!

    • Can you just pay the year in one go?

  • What is the best payment method? My bank cards don’t seem to accept the transaction

    • +1

Did you add your card to your Google Account PRIOR to signing up for Youtube i.e. to already have your card locally? Once it is part of your GoogleAccount, you would then VPN to YouTube Argentina, sign up and select the card that preexists within your Google Account..

  • +1

I followed the steps (created new google account > added existing emails to family > VPN to argentina > use new google account to get family subscription)
but our personal emails/google accounts keep getting argentinian recommendations on google play (but currency is still $AU)

Has this happened to anyone else?

    • Does this trick allow you to keep your normal Aussie account? (if it works?)

  • Succesfully changed from India to Arg with my new debit card. Win win

    • So can I clarify, people are making a new google account, in that region and then using family and friends and joining it……….. so that there's less risk to losing the real personal account?

  • +1

Just be aware that if you are doing surveys and one of the surveys accesses YouTube while you are using your Argentinian subscription, some survey site will ban your account as it deems you are participating outside of the designated country.

    • Can you elaborate what you mean about the surveys?

      • There are paid survey sites that you can join and they send you surveys to complete. Just a way to earn a bit of money in your spare time. I was trying to do some surveys and got these error messages in the last few days:
        "Sorry, please try another survey…
We take answer quality and account security seriously. Unfortunately we are unable to record your participation in this survey. This can happen if you rush your answers, your answers do not match your profile data, you are not in the designated country you signed up in, or you or someone in your household already participated in this survey."

However, I have been able to do their surveys today. Not sure if it is because I no longer log in to YouTube while doing surveys or not.

Anyone else having issues with their auto-debit failing with an Indian subscription?

Something about the Reserve Bank of India changing the payment requirements.

    • +1

Yep, YouTube Premium (India) won't take payment from my Wise card this billing cycle so guess I have to switch countries, Argentina if poss.

    • Yes, had the same problem. I have switched from India to Argentina. Had to cancel my existing subscription -> open VPN connect to Argentina and success! All family members were moved across seamlessly

Brazil is now asking for date of birth and cpf number which is some sort of tax number

  • Tried to do this with Tunnelbear (browser add-on only) to Argentina.
    My previous sub expired yesterday.

Got to the renew stage and it wanted me to enter a new card and address. Presumably it wanted a billing address to match the card AND to be in Argentina.
There were no cards saved that I could select.

When I connect locally and do the same thing, it shows me the existing accounts.
Perhaps because the account is also set up for Google Play billing.
It offered to let me save the card for all locations. Perhaps I needed to do that.
I said no, it then offered me a 10% discount to renew so I did that with a different card hoping to get the "save card for all locations" but it was no there.

Might have to use family sub on new account and add existing account to that - but I seem to recall that all family members have to use the same billing card?

    Will try again next month.

  • Worked perfectly

    • Renewal of previously cancelled sub? Argentina?

When you went to renew, did it offer a saved card or only allow a new card and address?

      • +1

I'd had a 6 month trial AUS based account previously, but was on free for some months. Argentina yes. Incognito window yes. Asked me to login. I did with my AUS account. Asked to enter card details. Used ARG address. Successful. Setup family account. All working.

        • Thanks.
It wanted me to enter a new card and address but I balked at that stage thinking the address would have to match the bank details.
I have seen others write that they were able to select an existing card. I wasn't.

Will be interesting to see if it accepts card details for a card already on the account for me next month.
Might have to create a family account and add existing account to the family.

If you're after an individual plan (not a family), you can buy an annual plan via Turkey @ 153 Turkish Lira (approx $15.66 AUD a year or $1.31 per month)

Annual plan was made available in the following countries:

United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Turkey, Germany, Thailand, India, and Japan.

Don't you need an Argentinian mobile phone number to sign up to an Argentinian YouTube plan? From what I'm told, an Argentinian address is not enough. What happens when you want to change your password. Everything goes over your mobile phone number.

    • Just used your email address. I don't have any phone linked to my account.

  • Worked with tunnelbear! Thanks so much!

  • Anyone else facing an OR-CCSEH-21 when trying to sign up using the 28 Degrees Mastercard as Payment Option? For now, I'm on a 1 month trial using ING Debit card, but I'm unable to add the credit card as a payment method

    • Make sure your GoogleAccount region is Australia when adding Credit card prior to assigning that card as method of payment for Yourtube. See if that helps.

  • Can anyone help? Brazil is now asking for date of birth and cpf number which is some sort of tax number

Signed up for an Indian membership in November, worked until Jan where it failed the auto-debit. It auto-renewed 2 days ago, and I've been charged $2.50~ 11 times since then from YouTube India…

    • What? Could you please elaborate? It seems it charged you the regular AUD$11.99 A MONTH regardless. Just shows the risk of using this. Yes, you can have YouTube Premium for $1 for 12 months, but make one mistake and they'll charge you another $120.

      • Over the past 3 days I've been charged between $2.43 and $2.48 11 times from Youtube India. Checking my older transactions it seems like no money was ever taken out in December for my premium even though I had it until around Jan 20th. I have no idea what's causing me to get spammed with -$2.50 but I hope they get refunded eventually… If not, then that's just the risk I guess.

    • Can't you just pay the year in one go, rather than deal with the ongoing CCard charges (And possibly not hitting your card and messing up?)

    • Same here sorta, my YouTube Premium IND failed to renew late last year (Nov or Dec) due to "billing requirement changes" but then saw a 189 INR payment on Feb 2 go out to "Raz*Youtube" which was a bit random and sus but my YTP was restarted too so 👍 I guess. But it's charged another 189 INR a week later.

  • is joined on another account as part of the family group but now my google play store is solely argentina but when i check my setting the country in australia. anyone have the same issues ??

    • So your personal account moved to argentina too, or the family account?

  • This is great, signed up the family. 4 out of 5 accounts worked perfectly (created the family group before joining). Having some issues connecting the Crypto.com debit card, but the 28 degress worked fine using an Argentina address…. got another 1 free month so will look at switching the card over before the first billing.

    • Is there a way to pay the whole year in one go? So you don't need to deal with the credit card business too often?

  • Just went to create a new Google account to then add everyone else as family members to, and it's asking for a mobile number to let me create the account. Is that new? Don't have any spare mobile numbers that aren't registered to a Google account already, and using one of the random generated Argentinian numbers doesn't work because it wants to send you a verification SMS (and there are no other verification methods).

Anyone got a work around to having to add a verifiable phone number to create a new Google account? Or can I just reuse mine which is already registered to a Google account?

    • +1

      You can reuse your number

  • thanks for the post and all the comments, still working for me!

  • Why mine keeps showing YOUTUBE BR (Brazil). my VPN shows Argentina IP address.
    anyone encounters same issue?

    • Yes, with Kaspersky VPN it was struggling to connect to a Argentina VPN server, I had to try a few times.

      • you know what, i was struggling for 2 days and I installed so many kind of VPN yet still no luck.
I just signed up with the India youtube. well sad that i have to pay $3.5,/mo but thats okay. better than nothing eh

        • Annoying. Maybe try it again in a month or so.

  • Is it still working? payment is not going through
    circle keeps going on

    • Still working for me, but I use Turkey

      • How much are you paying via Turkey? Have you signed up for Google Drive as well?

        • +1

          Around a $1.80

          • @oldhippy: Is Google One / Drive price also relatively lower?

I signed up for YouTube premium via Argentina but the price of Google Drive is almost the same AU.

  • +2

still working. need to get the city correct otherwise u go in a loop.

  • Just got it using my usual account, Cheers!

  • Why is Google Drive prices showing up in USD even when the VPN is Argentina ?

  • +2

was working perfectly until i received an email saying:
YouTube Premium: Your payment was declined [march 2022]. Try another payment method.
Using 28 degrees card. Youtube Argentina.

anyone else got this error this month?

    • +1

I started getting this too on my long running India membership

      • I VPN to India, updated payment details with a new billing address (still in India, move house this year out of the Hilton) and put in a new card and was charged for the month.
See how it goes for next month.
I used my virtual card from Wise.

    • +1

Yea got the same thing today… maybe they’re cracking down on this?

    • +1

yeah same here, hope there is a workaround

    • I got the same email about payment decline for my 28 degrees card.
I tried to update my credit card details but it didn't allow it and tried to add the 28 degrees card as a backup payment and it didn't allow it too.
So I just added a new card (HSBC) as a backup payment and added the postcode to my existing "Argentina" address, a few days later the payment was confirmed/processed.

For the people that forgot their postcode in "Argentina" use this site to look it up:
      https://www.mapsofworld.com/postal-codes/country-argentina.h…

      • So I just added a new card (HSBC)

        They charge overseas fee

        • Not sure how much the fee is, but I was charged $2.26 for March, i'm on the family plan 179ARS/month, so the rate seems pretty good.

  • +1

Anyone recently having issues with using AU debit/credit card?

I’ve been using this (Argentinian YouTube Premium) since Feb 2021 and now for the March 2022 payment I got an email saying I need to update my payment method ASAP. When I tried another card (ING debit and credit, CBA debit cards) they all didn’t work.

I feel Google knows we’re doing this from AU and let’s you do it for 12 months before stopping you from using an Aussie card?

    • Seem not working anymore.

      • +1

So… weird thing is, whenever I tried update my card details even though it said it cannot be used, I could see my credit card had a pending charge for YouTube Premium.

So I tried to update like 6 times before realising 6 pending charges on my card. I did 5 of them on my phone and it kept saying card cannot be used. Then for the last time I did it on my computer and it saved the card details with no issues. Though I did use a different Argentinian address, so not sure if it’s the address that got it to work or doing it on my computer.

Then I checked my card today and all the pending charges disappeared except for one so it seems to be all good.

  • Is it have to use credit card, PayPal, debit card OK?

Is it better not to use the normal Google account I used on phone?

    • My Take: others may have different view.
I use a Visa Debit card in my Google account so they are fine.
Paypal: I would guess not unless you had an Argentian Paypal account.
Normal Google Account: you could BUT why risk it in case Google decide to black list you for misbehaving (unlikely). It's not hard to just setup a new Gmail/Google account for this purpose alone. One just uses it to sign into Youtube. Your phone account remains as is.

  • Bank blocked my card on the India one so I've subbed to this. Thanks!

  • Spent over an hour trying to get this to work with no luck. Every single time I put in my card for payment and add the correct Argentinian address it spins infinitely. I can see a $0 hold payment from Google on my bank account but no subscription has gone through. Happens with both my NAB Debit card and GO Mastercard. Is it the banks declining this or am I doing something wrong?

    • I assume you added your Cr/Card to your Australian Google account "Before" starting. That's what is required.

      • Some said not needed, just put CC during sign up.

        • I think the reason is that if you add Cr/Card to Google when connected to Argentina, that your card may fail to Auth (being overseas). In turn add the card to Google via Australia and then connect to Argentina and signup to Youtube using it. I suppose different people seem to have had different results by the sounds of things. I am certainly not an expert and just passing on what I did and my understanding of it. I could be wrong though!

  • Seem like no way to subscribe to family annual plan, India only allow personal annual plan.

    • Finally signed up family monthly plan with Argentina, don't have annual plan, use another gmail account to signup and invite the main account myself. When accept invitation on phone, it said "Trouble …… " something . look like difference country.

Do I need to change my country back to Australia?

      Used Tunnel Bear chrome extension.

      • You will need to delete any Australian billing information you have saved in your Google account and then go through the country change procedure to switch it to an Argentina account and then you should be able to accept the invitation no problem. Family members need to be in the same country to join the Google family.
