YouTube Premium via Argentina: ARS $119/Month (Single ~A$1.65/Month, Family ~A$2.48/Month, VPN Required only for Registration)

6830

Resharing again after 6 months for those unaware of this workaround to score YouTube Premium at a fraction of the normal price (with full credit to HiDave for the original find). Personally been on this plan for over 18 months and works flawlessly with 28 Degrees MasterCard (no fees). Please stay safe, and enjoy :)

Very straightforward process:

  1. Use a VPN to connect to an Argentinian server (required only for registration).
  2. Open an incognito browser window.
  3. Sign up via the main link in this post (or here).
  4. If an Argentinian address is requested, use this link and Google the postcode.
  5. Pay with a card that has no foreign exchange fees.
  6. Enjoy the full benefits of YouTube Premium.

I should have clarified: you can choose/change your YouTube country once per year, which this deal uses up. Then you're stuck in Argentina for a year.

YouTube music (as far as I can tell) uses your payment profile country.

          • +2

@Seancohen: Really, I've done it multiple times but I'm running YT Vanced so maybe that makes a difference? Wouldn't have thought so though. Its basically a premium hack

          • @Seancohen: When you change your country in this way, does that also update the subscription cost? And will other family members have to take action, or will it "just work"?

    • Only temporarily until the algorithm figures out you're not interested in any of it

    • No issue for me. Been subbed via Argentina for at least a year. No turning back.

Any recommendations for which VPN to use?

    • +10

Tunnel bear, just use the free one, works well

      • Thank you mate. Worked a treat

  • +1

Is there a nest aware sub in Argentina…?

    • This!
I'm just about to cancel my Nest Aware subscription, as I don't really see the point paying for it when my doorbell barely even recognises anyone…

I just set up one for my friend yesterday, the fake address link in the post is dead, but I use this instead https://www.bestrandoms.com/random-address-in-ar?quantity=6
and it works, you just need to google search the post code of the city as its not showing in the link.

    • +8

I just open Google maps and select an address that i like.

    • +5

Thanks. Updated OP with your working link :)

    • Using Revolut and my approved it but the Merchant cancelled the transaction

      $0.06 Temporary Hold
Reverted - The merchant cancelled this transaction. You have not been charged

Used the address using the above link.

Any clue why google is cancelling the transaction

      • +1

Free trial period (but still checking the payment card)?

  • +3

Always thought about doing it, but worried the risk is you lose your Google account? Plenty of life ends up tied to it.

    • +11

Create a new Google account and sign up for the YouTube family plan then just invite your normal account to join the family.

      • +3

I've been trying to do this and it won't let me add my other accounts to the family as they're in different countries…

        • +8

Same here. You would have to delete the payment profile on your AU account, but then you lose any Play credit you have, transaction history, and ability to use Google Pay. The main reason why I gave up on trying to do this as I don't want to risk losing my primary account and can't be stuffed teaching a new account my habits etc.

        • You gotta do it on a PC if you try to do it on your phone even with a VPN it knows.. unless it's checking the GPS I'm going to try that and ill get back to you

nope, that doesn't work either just use a PC it's easy as then.

    • How would you loose your Google account?

      • +7

        ToS breach

        • Have you head of this happening? I would think they would just cancel your YouTube account as they are separate?

          • +1

@MainlagToby: Not necessarily, but there have been multiple stories of people having their entire Google account locked up with very little recourse or warning (not necessarily due to this technique). I guess it depends on your risk appetite. For something like Netflix or even Amazon, I'm happier to take a bigger risk.

The other consideration for me is that licensing deals usually differ across countries, so I would imagine some artists aren't available in the Argentina YT Music.

            • +1

@itsfree: That's the reason you create a a new primary account and sign up so they would only lock up the primary account

      • +9

        By not tightening it enough.

        • +1

I was thinking turn it to the left would that work?

    • I have two payment profiles at pay.google.com: an Australian one with my FFFL Citi Premier (thanks OzB), and an Argentinian one using my Citi Mastercard Debit for my YouTube subscription (to which I've added my Australian address).

  • +5

I use the Indian one. Easier and you don’t seem to get spammed with indian content.

The problem with Argentina is it seems like there were always new taxes and the exchange rate was as stable as bitcoin when we used it for Netflix before moving to turkey.

  • Signed up for YT premium to stop ads but still get ads on my tv.

    • Are you signed into YouTube on your tv?

      • yep

        • Pre-roll ads? Weird.

          • @sween64: yeah, it's so annoying. I've tried a lot of things. Apparently it's quite common.

        • +1

Maybe you don’t have premium then.

          • @Heybargain: On youtube on my TV, it says it's a premium account

            • @[Deactivated]: Which TV?

              • @sween64: One on my Samsung and the other on my playstation

                • @[Deactivated]: Weird. I've got YT Prem and don't get ads on Chrome, Edge, iPhone, iPad or LG WebOS. I haven't tried PlayStation.

Anybody know how to upgrade from individual membership to family membership?
Currently have Individual membership: ARS 119/mo but it doesn't give me the option to upgrade when I click manage membership???

    • Connect to Argentinian via VPN has worked for me.

  • Is there a Spotify subscription from this blessed country?

    • +1

I did this in the past (may have been Argentina, may have been Turkey etc.) and found that there was limited content in those regions due to licensing issues. So your favourite artist/s may not be available.

  • Do the content creators also get paid with the same discount? I'm all for saving money but there are too many for me to pay them via other means.

    • -4

Please calm down. Pretty sure the big YouTubers most people are keen on are doing better than you and I living in a backwater country.

    • +6

If you value content creation, better off sending them money via Patreon.

      • That's what I do. everything else I block.

  • why 6 months?
can you purchase 6 months membership in one go?
if so where do you sign it up? so far I can only see the monthly charges.

    • +3

TA reposted the deal after 6 months because according to Ozbargain rules you can repost the same deal every 6 months. It has nothing to do with Youtube or the membership lol

  • Does paying for youtube mean it skips the sponsored rubbish in videos, like what smart-tube can do?

    • +3

No, this is just for YouTube ads, not content sponsers.

      • -1

Then I'll stay with smarttube, many thanks

        • +1

Didn't know sponsorblock was a thing. Thanks, mate!

  • +1

why do people need this exactly

    • +6

To get rid of the biggest problem with Youtube: ads.

Ever since I moved to Argentina I haven't seen an ad in years.

      • +2

        why not just use adblock

        • +5

Because A) it's easier B) it works on mobile devices C) allows you to download videos for when you're traveling etc and includes ytmusic

    • +1

      Cheap Spotify replacement

  • Anyone has instructions on the unsubscribe and subscribe process as I have 4 family members who use my AC (family membership on their own Gmail account)?

  • What happens if you use a credit card that does have fees? I only use a local mastercard.

    • Usually about 3% surcharge plus unfavorable exchange rates

      • +1

Thankyou. So it wouldn't be much more expensive per month. Still considerably cheaper than local YT Premium?

        • +4

Yeah definitely, we're talking like 12-15 cents extra a month for a family

    • Sign up for a Macquarie Bank debit card.

  • Argentina isn’t the best country to choose. With taxes it adds up to almost the price of Australian Netflix.

    • +3

😂 Where'd you pull that nugget of nonsense from? My YT premium cost $1.63 last month (using a Macquarie Bank debit card and the Argentina method).

      • Oops. They crossed over in my mind.

    • +1

      This is about YouTube.
But I agree. Argentina is a PIA for their sudden tax increases

  • +1

Paying $2.42 for individual account. Getting ripped off.

  • -4

Why pay when you can easily get ad free YouTube for free?

    • +3

How do I get free Youtube on my Samsung TV and my kids iPads and Macbook?

      • -8

        Android.

Not Tizen and Apple OS silly.

        • +2

So you answered your own question then.

        • +1

What a helpful and insightful answer.

            • +1

@Muzeeb: Oh I know, no need to preach to the choir. But for any other device that has YouTube on it (you know there's more than Android, right?), there aren't always methods to avoid ads. Can't change DNS for iOS/ Apple TV/ Samsung TV cause it's straight from YouTube servers. So what else is there to do but subscribe to YouTube Premium.

All three of your comments on this thread have been of literally no use. I suggest you save yours and everyone elses time and think beforehand.

              • -5

@doot: In the time I read your post I could have watched 30 seconds of adfree youtube on my android device.

        • Boo. Crap suggestion.

      • iOS has uYou, no Jailbreak necessary.

    • +1

      How?

  • +1

If you subscribe using Argentinian Youtube via VPN or any other means, does the family plan work in Youtube accounts in Australia ? I thought for family sharing and youtube premium to work the plan has to be purchased in the same country/region where the account will be used.

    • Family plan works in Australia using Argentinian You Tube Account

    • +2

Setup the family first and have everyone accept the invites before signing up for the family plan via Argentina

  • +1

This has been working fine for me the past 12+ months. Getting charged currently AUD 1.63 per month and use the 28 degrees credit card.

Have had no issues with general use on multiple devices. I use youtube a fair bit so this is well worth the expense for me (and being able to have it on in the background on your phone is awesome).

However I don't share the account with family or anyone so can't talk to that experience.

    • Same I use ING $1.64 plus $0.04 international fee.

  • +1

Got this working for the last two months. Worth it just for eliminating the ads for everyone.

  • What is the probability that Google accounts get cancelled for possible violations of t/c

What precautions can we take to avoid?

    • My Indian YTP family has been going strong for 2 years - we are also all across Australia.

If you are worried you could just create a new YouTube account and purchase it on that.

      • What is the indian deal?
