Wow, thanks for this! I got the orbitkey set and a tub of Jelly Belly for $51.89 with free express delivery. Less the $20 Afterpay, less the ShopBack $5 plus the upto 2% cashback!

It's a ruddy bargin if I have ever seen one. Thanks again vt and ESEMCE!

        • how does the shopback work? do you choose afterpay card and then link that to shopback acc?

          • @cerealsmok3r: I bought using the shopback app and then selected afterpay as my payment type

    • +1

Any one have any issues with this? I tried to purchase 2 orbitkeys via Afterpay and Afterpay is declining. I definitely have sufficient funds.

      • Well you need to make up $50 for Afterpay…
I just successfully put through a transaction with the Afterpay discount.

        • $50 after the discount? I had 2 crazy horses in my bag.

          • +1

            @itzinfinite: $50 pre discount.

          • @itzinfinite: Should be good then.
Afterpay is weird like this. Maybe pay down any other outstanding bills you have with afterpay?

      • They are in stock, then sell out. I tried twice today because I was too busy fumbling around trying to find out what to buy to cover the $2 for free ship I needed. Then at 7 pm they were back in stock. Try again, maybe that was the reason.

        • I've been ordering and they keep cancelling lol. Might eventually have an order get through..

          • +1

@prodnus: Yeah you're right, I just got the message through now.

Can someone let me know if the appeal of ‘orbit key’

It’s leather strap used as a keychain. Why is it so expensive and why do people seem to like it so much.

    • +5

I think it's just a luxury thing. A nice gift to get someone if you don't know what to get them

    • +11

Have used one for years. They stop you keys clanking and getting caught on things in your bag/pocket. They reduce bulk significantly and are generally a well made, functional key organiser. Highly recommended and would buy again if/when the one I have dies - which I don't think will be for many many years.

      • Ditto, I've had a knockoff one for years.
It's become very loose across this year, so time for an upgrade.

Your keys become like a pocket knife. compact and easy to find the right key in the dark.

      • +16

You disgust me. I've been looking at these posts for months laughing going why on earth would people buy one of these.

…I've just bought one of them

        • +1

          You're welcome.

      • I would get one if they were big enough to fit my car key…That's the only deterrent for me

        • +1

They have a small metal loop on the end for you to attach an "external" key such as car fob.

          • +2

@lasterato: Yeah, I've seen that, but it kind of defeats the purpose of the product. Too many devices

            • @wouldyou: Thought the same. Still compact and stops the keys banging together. I’m a once non believer now a believer. Even the missus wants one now.

            • +1

@wouldyou: Just buy a brand new BMW 4 class that unlocks via iPhone proximity. No key needed - problem solved.

            • +1

              @wouldyou: exaclty

      • +2

How does adding something extra to your keys reduce bulk? It will just make them even bulkier.

    • Well I've bought some similar cheapy everyday carry eBay ones before to store my keys. The keys all were loose and swing around despite being in a carrier like this. The execution isn't that great.

I was gifted an OrbitKey and while I wouldn't pay full price for them I wouldn't mind a discount like this. I prefer organising keys like this instead of flopping around on a ring in my pockets or bag.

    • I have used Orbit Key for years and it's the best key ring I have ever used. It is compact and keys don't jingle in your pocket. I have introduced Orbit Key to a few people and everyone has loved it. Great product!

    • +1

I’m still wondering the same thing. $20 for a leather holder. Or 20 cents for a metal key ring.

    • It's the sort of thing you give as a gift, when you don't know what to get somebody, but if you want one yourself consider buying a knockoff. They cost about $10 on ebay. I got two on Aliexpress for $7.60. They are fake leather that looks cheap - especially the brown, black or red is better - but they do a great job of organising your keys into a small space in your pocket, and who looks at key holders anyway?

    • How many keys do people have to need these? I've only got one "normal" key. The rest are all car fobs or the garage remote

      • Letter/Parcel box,
        Work key,
        Front Screen door,
        front Main door,
        back door,
        bottle opener
        and my Yubikey,

plus 2 stupid massive car key fob thingys (that's something that can die in a hurry!)
tiny usb drive that barely ever gets used, but due to the car fobs makes practically no difference.

This is after I culled my nest of keys!

        • Why don't you get all the house locks keyed alike?
I too hate the fobs but generally only carry the one I need

          • @whitelie: Cause 2 extra keys isn't the problem. Paying a few hundred bucks to have locks keyed alike would provide minimal benefit.
The bulky parts are the 2 car keys which account for pretty much 66% of the volume.

            • @ESEMCE: But the Orbit doesn't solve that issue either right. Only works for the house keys essentially, which can be solved by having a common key. I'd rather get that done than buy one of these is my point as it benefits everyone that lives there.

              • +1

@whitelie: Cool dude, you can carry one key.

On a work day I NEED to carry at least 4 keys (car key, back door house key, work key and a Yubikey).
Adding the letterbox key and bottle opener are conveniences as are the keys to the front doors, they're rarely used but saves the frustration when you need them and thanks to Orbitkey barely adds bulk.

Orbitkey doesn't solve the bulk issue of the car keys. it can't. We're probably stuck with them until phone unlock becomes a common feature cause they need to carry a battery.

                Orbitkey solves;
                1) ease of access to keys… I can easily find the correct key in the stack even when they're "identical" cause they're always in the same position, unlike a keyring.
                2) keeps my keys far more compact than they were on a keyring.
                3) stops/minimises my keys from scratching things in my pocket.

just wondering how crazy a horse needs to be to distinguish its leather different from normal horse.

    • +1

      comes from a crazy horse

  • +4

Thanks mirror. I've been holding off from upgrading my trusty Aliexpress $5 one i've had for years but $19.74 for the Active plus $5 bonus cashback sounds pretty damn good to me.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Finally pulled the trigger. The price is more reasonable after including the discount from Afterpay.

  • hmmm, 10$ delivery, no clicky-collecct in SA

  • Anybody/any gamers got the desk mat? Wondering how the mouse tracks over it or if it would still need a dedicated mat.

    • just bought the huge white one

will report when I get it

I wanted the black one but it vanished before I reached checkout

but I guess razer blade will look better on white

    • I didn't feel any negative impacts to mouse usage but I'm only a casual gamer and not playing any FPS games. Absolutely love the cable holders though since I need to switch between two laptops often and I hate picking my cables off the floor.

    • +1

I returned the desk mat.. it is good if you are using paper for notes (you can "hide" it under the mat). For me, it is not practical.
For mouse, dedicated mouse pad will still be better.

    • +1

Its relatively smooth, but mine never flattened out no matter how much I tried rolling it in the opposite direction. Ended up selling it

      • that's a shame. I have a big black one (giggidy) and it eventually flattened out after maybe a week. I did have to roll it the opposite direction to what it was rolled inside the box.

    • +1

I was part of the Kickstarter for the deskmat, I still have a mouse pad ontop of it when I play FPS, but it seemed fine for other games that did not require that accuracy for clicking on heads.

      • From others above and this, it sounds like I dodged a bullet. Thanks for all the advice. It's hard finding a nice large mat thst looks good and doesn't go rotten in ~6-12 months and I keep my desk very tidy!

  • Thanks, $68 for an Active, a Crazy Horse, a Leather and a Multi-Tool V2 in conjunction with the Afterpay deal and with free shipping.

    • free shipping?

      • +2

Free Express Shipping over $50 Spend

  • Damn, lots of things sold out.

  • Cheers OP. Grabbed 2 x limited edition key organiser sets delivered

  • Wanted to get a deskmat
    All sold out

    • the deskmat is overrated. it doesn't actually stay on ur desk very well.

I was tempting to buy awhile ago but not anymore.

      • Yep, it has a felt bottom so it tends to slide around.

        • If you email them, they will send you anti slip pads that you can attach to the bottom of the desk mat

        • I guess it depends on what you've got sitting on top of it. Mine doesn't seem to slide around unless I force it to. But then again, my mechanical keyboard is built like a tank, and weighs as much as one too.

  • +1

sweet deal OP, got $33.88 for 2 leather orbitkey not including shopback cashback/bonus plus free shipping.

    • how?

      • +1

        use the afterpay offer

  • +1

thank you OP! got the huge white desk mat

that's the only item that I always wanted to try. I've seen other people use their key organizers and never found them more comfortable than the key holder I use, since I have a lot of things on my keychain, they just won't fit onto their holder

  • This is a good deal and the products obviously attractive.

But I can't bring myself to spend this much on a key ring.

The 'multi-tool' is well, a screwdriver and a bottle opener, I have bought a more functional one from here for 5 cents.

A orbitkey like product can be purchased on eBay for about $7.

    • Can you link the multi took please?

  • $36 for 2.

Can't complain. Can keep one as a spare xmas gift to someone.

  • Actives have gone. They last a lot longer based on previous OzB feedback.
But for $37 for 2 leather using after pay. No brainer.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I have one and find it convenient so decided to get one for the wife.

  • How does this work with you car key?

    • +2

Attached to a keyring off the end of the Orbitkey

  • Can't add to cart :'(
    Sold out already?

  • OOS for most products

  • yep all gone :-(

  • I’m sure they’ll be a few people rushing into store to grab one from the shelves before these orders are confirmed and collected by staff.

  • I've been wanting to get a Nest for so long - $69 click and collected with the Afterpay deal is amazing nice.
    Thanks!

  • soldout.com

    • They're really not - but they are very expensive at full price.

  • +1

The Nest is one of the best things I’ve ever purchased. Works really well if you hotdesk or travel. Yea obviously a pre-pandemic purchase but if things should go back to normal, this really helps keep stuff organised and the beauty is that you don’t have to worry about carrying a charging cable for your phone.

    • Don't you need a charging cable for the nest?

      • D’oh! Isn’t it wireless? ;)

Yes you do need a USB C but it’s far more common in offices and are usually already tethered to the desk as that’s what’s powering most laptops.

  • Sold out like hot cakes! Nice find BTW.

  • +2

Sweet! I didn't buy one for myself as all I see is a pretty key organiser, but no doubt 2 people will be happy with their Christmas present. Thanks op

  • +2

Missed out on the combination with bottle opener + tool, was gone by checkout so just got a plain one.

Anyway cheap bottle opener available here $7.50 for those interested:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Orbitkey-Stainless-Profile-Bottles…

    • That's not cheap; that's normal price.

      • +1

Yeah but can't get it at DJs. I need beers.

  • +1

Just came back from instore, it wasn't going through with the 40% off. They had to manually do it for me to price match their own website.

    • Which shelf it belongs ?

      • +1

At my local store, it's technically under the 'luggage' section. However, I found it at the books countertop. HTH

  • Shame no ID card Holder pro

  • -4

Shame on OzBargainers for frothing over these protects when it's just clever marketing on a $1 piece of material from aliexpress that keeps your keys together and marked up to $30 to $50

  • Ozbargained online

  • +3

Thanks OP! Oos online but went into the Perth city store and they had stock of pretty much everything.

Put through the discount at the counter and I was able to pay with afterpay and get the extra $20 off
