  is it worth getting pricey z690 with an i5 12th gen cpu? does getting higher end 11th gen cpu with cheapo z590 offer better value?

    when a 12600k mostly beats the 11 and 10 series bar the 900K's, i'd take the 12600KF (Plus single core performance), although this deal would've been goated with a 12700KF

      Also it uses ddr4 ram, would be nice if it was bundled with a ddr5 mobo and ram.

        Pretty sure this z690 board only support ddr4 ram. Not to mention the ddr5 ram would probably cost about 1/4 of the build.

        From the benchmarks I've seen DDR5 doesn't seem to make much/any difference to performance

    i'd take a ~$300 Z690 DDR4 board + 12th gen i5 vs any high end 11th gen. 12th gen i5 is considerably faster than any previous Intel chip. Unless you can get a decent deal on an 11th gen CPU, the i5 12600K/F is the way to go.
