Is it a good deal if the function of the device is a scam?

  • This thing won't help you lose weight. It's pseudoscience

    • it isnt claiming to.

      But these devices arent pseudoscience.

They're fantastic for circulation, and bone density, and in my case, was recommended for spine damage.

NASA aren't known for putting their people through pseudoscience tests; though they specifically use 90hz, some of these brands have a "speed" indicator, and some dont.

I find these things very useful for getting feeling back in areas 'blocked' by my spine damage.

      • I guess I had some false impression on them then. I'm glad it has helped you

      • How do you normally use? Got this 4-5 years ago, used for 2-3 months (mostly kids) and biting dust ever since. Thinking of using it again with a standup desk while working, but not sure if that is practical either. Not looking for weight loss at all. Just to inject some healthy lifestyle to this white collar WFH illness without having any sideeffect like cartilage damage etc

Im no doctor; but the usual "use" is to throw off your bodies ability to predict your movement, and therfore trigger more muscles.

So, short sessions, of doing things like lunges, pushups and squats are usually the go to.

It probably works a bit for resistance and weight training. Just vibration by itself won't do squat.
It also probably damages the knees articulations cartilage, as any vibration does on any articulation.
Trading muscle for articulation seems an impressively bad deal to me. Any opinions are my own and based off reading, I'm not a physician.

    • Yup. Super common tool to trigger muscles in people who can't, or have been sedentary for a long time.

    Is this waterproof?

  • Alf says these really helped him. And it's clinically proven it may do something. What more could you ask for.

    • Nah, those old ones were specifically used as an attempt as weight loss. They werent used for osteoporosis, or diabetes, or nerve damage like these platforms are used for.

This specific company might choose to label theirs for fat loss; but the actual device has a much wider use.

      • Do any of the new claims have any more scientific evidence than for weight loss?

        • +1

Absolutely. Its why NASA uses them to prevent bone density loss in space, and to trigger muscle contractions.
And why people with osteoporosis are prescribed them.
And why I was prescribed one when i had a spinal injury.

Its often also used by the morbidly obese to get muscles used to contracting again at all, if you've been immobile for a few years.

A vibrator would be more useful in helping you lose weight
