have a few of these with my hassio setup, work great.

I just got the kit though since it was the same price (pre-drop) and came with a 2700k bulb - https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/tradfri-dimmer-kit-50435929/

    • Long-time Home Assistant user here. I've got heaps of zigbee gear (Aqara etc.) but have never used the Ikea Tradfri stuff. Any chance you can share some YAML code as to how the dimmer actually works to dim the lights?

      • Hey mate, check out the 'Automations' section after going to your button entity (or other sensor really). You can also check out the Blueprints that people are publishing online to make selecting what the buttons do a little easier again.

        • I use node-red for my integrations as it's a bit more friendly for me as I don't like coding.

  • I use a CC2531. The firmware was quite old and didn't recognise this until I flashed it with the most recent update.

    • Works fine with my CC2531

What did you update the bulb with?

      • The firmware on my CC2531 that is

        • Oh right, how did you update it? Re flash?

          • +1

@impoze: Yeap, zigbee2mqtt has instructions. If you bought the module with a debugger and flashed it yourself then it's just a case of following the same steps with the updated firmware hex file. If you bought it preflashed then you'll need to buy the debugger.

So I threw out some Ikea tradfri stuff a while ago because it wouldn't pair. In hindsight all i needed to do was update the module firmware I think. It didn't play nice with Ikea pre 2020.

  • It’s been this price for a little while now… also can buy the basic dimmable zigbee bulb in a kit for $15 with this.

For those interested can confirm it loads up on deconz.
Had some issues with ZHA and will need to try again, probably paired to the light still

    • I'd be interested if anyone has these working with ZHA properly.

I'm using Ikea motion sensors successfully, but not these.

      • I had them with zha previously and now with z2mqtt using conbee 2 adaptor. Both work fine.

        • What blueprint did you use? I guess I need to learn to use YAML config.

        Try this blue print….

ZHA - IKEA TRADFRI - 2 Button Remote - Custom Actions
        https://community.home-assistant.io/t/zha-ikea-tradfri-2-but…

        • Thanks, i'll give it a go. And try to make time to learn how it all works. Finding documentation can be a challenge!

      • I've been using node red with an events all listener filtering for zha_event. Then based off of the device ID and the action it triggers the automations. E.g.

On = single press on button
Off = single press off button
move_with_on_off = long press on button
move = long press off button

Edit: Basically what is in the blueprint above, but in node red.

  • Cheers OP grabbed a couple to try with Hubitat 👍

ohh the zigbee (pelvic thrust x5)

I know what part of youtube you have been hanging out in ;)

    • +1

Yep me too - pretty classic scene, often included in other channels (Dr Zzz's sometimes includes it)

  • Do these work okay directly into the Alexa ecosystem as zigbee (without an ikea hub)?

    • I doubt it

  • I have never set this up but I looked into zigbee a little so correct me if I am wrong, but you need a zigbee hub. Only the Echo Show 10 I believe has one built in, so unless your Alexa is that then no, you will need a hub. Happy to be corrected, since I haven't taken the plunge on an echo show 10 yet

    • also 4th gen echos

      • Is that the current gen? If so, can I get even an echo dot?

        • Ah, so I worked out that the current gen dot does support it, buts it's the one that looks like a ball and is 59 bucks, so I am going to skip that for now

  • +2

The echo plus has zigbee (2nd gen)
Just picked one up for $40 of eBay, boxed almost new looking.
Wanted it to speak to my Yale lock, not set up yet

    • Not very great idea to use a proprietary zigbee hub for cross brand zigbee devices because you'll be at the mercy of Amazon or whoever to decide to write up scripts for your devices and they can just drop them off the support list at will.

I got this just over the weekend with Smart thing to control LIFX without taking the phone out

    • +1

I've also used this with Samsung SmartThings in place of the Ikea Trådfri hub. Setup is simple and quick.

Used in combination with other Ikea products Trådfri bulbs, Kadrilj blinds and non-Ikea products LIFX leds, Samsung bulbs, Meross wall socket.

It's a good switch, my parents don't have to fuss with an assistant or their mobile phone. The first one I setup for my parents to control under cabinet lighting is reporting 47% after over a year of daily use.

Wow this thread is a whirlwind of terms and things I have never heard of…

    CC2351, Hubitat, zigbee2mqtt, ZHA, conbee 2, YAML, deconz 😳

    • +1

Yeah, if you want to ruin someone's life, buy them a home automation starter kit for Christmas. They'll be so busy trying to figure everything out you'll never see them again.

      • Home assistant in particular :)

Home Assistant! Home Assistant! Home Assistant!

(If you get the OP's reference you'll get this!)

  • Bit noob question. Can this be paired with Xiaomi hub v 3? Not an expert in HA
