Samsung T7 1TB Portable SSD (Titan Gray | Metallic Red) $148 + $0 Metro Del /C&C @ Officeworks (&HN Gray Only + Del, $0 C&C)

210

Hey ozBargainers!

I saw this awesome deal at HN and I just went and picked one up!

Normally the Samsung T7 1TB is $229, but it looks like HN & Officeworks have it for $148 for the Grey model.

OW also has the Red for $148, but HN lists the Red for $198.

HN seems to have a lot in stock in my area, whereas OW only has limited stock near me.

Amazon also has them but it's OOS.

Dont forget cash back and gift cards ;)

Hope you all had a good boxing day!

  • Look, how the prices went up…

Bing Lee eBay has it for $149 plus 10% off code $134.10 - BD10OFF?

  • What do people use external SSDs for?

    • Moving/copying data between devices. Moving files over from a full drive. Off-site back-ups, keeping confidential data off the pc, etc. SSDs are immune to all but the worst shocks.

      • Not the best for long term storage due to data degradation though. Spinning HDDs are still better in that department.

        • Agreed. Spinning platters also better for secure erase

    • This one attracts Mac users due to USB-C. Changing internal Macbook Pro storage is generally not possible and Apple charges a lot for internal storage upgrade when you purchase the device.

Other common usages: (1) portable storage (easier to carry than HDD, don't need to worry about putting it in a protective case) (2) if you have the budget, external storage for XB1, PS4, PS5, Series S|X.

One annoyance is that 90%+ of review on T7 simply runs basic benchmark software such as Crystal DiskMark and it basically just checks / measures the SLC cache speed. Really hard to find the true NAND speed once the SLC cache runs out (basically hardly any review doing proper sustained write tests).

    • You can edit 4K 50P professional XAVC in real time with a T7 on an iMac. They are great drives.

    • It’s a requirement to maintain your OZB licence.
*penalties may apply for non compliance.

  • lmao they price jacked it to $159 for us Ozb professionals
