  • Could some clarify if I buy 5 ebay giftcards will I get 10,000 flybuys points or will I only get 2000 flybuys points?

    • If you purchase 5x $50 eBay gift cards during this deal, you’ll get a total of 10,250 Flybuys points:

      • 10,000 bonus Flybuys points, and
      • 250 standard Flybuys points.

Just make sure you do not purchase the $100 eBay gift cards, as they are not part of this bonus points promotion.

      • +1

Instore banner may inlcude all denominations of pictured cards. Most likely all included this time.

        • +1

          Maybe.

I included the warning about not getting the $100 eBay gift card, because the large print and fine print makes it clear that only the $50 eBay gift card is eligible (although the bold fine print also says all denominations, so who knows).

Someone will probably report back to us in a few days as to whether the $100 eBay gift card will trigger the bonus points offer.

      • Might be a dumb question, but any idea if it's alright to purchase them in one transaction?

        • Yep, one transaction is fine. More than one transaction is also fine.

  • Will I get cash back if I use the Amazon giftcards to make a purchase? E.g around Christmas time had 12% cashbacks.

    • +1

      Currently, yes.

If you look at dot point #3 in TA’s recent deal for Amazon AU 12% cashback:

Purchases paid with gift cards are eligible for cashback.

Cashrewards’ page for Amazon AU also currently states the same.

However, the reason I say currently is that Amazon AU can change their cashback terms and conditions at any time to exclude purchases paid with gift cards.

      • What about cashback from Shopback? Nothing specific under eligible or ineligible.

        • +1

I had a look at the Amazon AU page on ShopBack and I can see what you mean.

GYB said during last month’s boosted Amazon AU cashback deal that any gift cards will stack with cashback through ShopBack.

Another thing to keep in mind is that cashback terms and exclusions are standard across all cashback providers, excluding boosted cashback rates you may see at one cashback provider from time to time. For example, if Amazon AU states in their contract with cashback providers that purchases paid in full or in part with gift cards are eligible for cashback, this will be the same for Cashrewards, ShopBack, etc. TA confirmed this a while ago.

  • plenty at my local

    • Where's that?… If you don't mind be asking

  • Chadstone ebay sold out

    • Thanks, mate. I was just about to head over there.

  • I know this has been asked before, but I can't recall since last time I bought GCs was a while ago and not sure if terms have changed…

But can I use discounted coles giftcard to buy giftcards?

    • +6

      It depends.

It is against the Terms of Use to redeem a gift card issued by Coles Group (e.g. Coles Gift Card) on a purchase of a gift card, and it has been like that for years (if I remember correctly). Having said that…

      • If you’re going through a self-service checkout, it may be programmed to block you as soon as you press Gift Card on the payment screen, and AFAIK, staff have no way of bypassing this. if you are not blocked from doing this, you can also only use one payment method (i.e. one gift card) when paying for a gift card at a self-service checkout.

      • If you go through a serviced checkout, it is at the discretion of the staff member operating the checkout.

      • I tried paying by flybuy dollars and the EFTPOS machine declined, so I'm guessing it's been programmed in. I'll assume it's the same for gift card as the payment method but it seems to work for some.

      • I was able to pay by coles gift card at self checkout, but unable to split payment when my coles gift card balance is not enough in my second transaction payment, so had to pay by credit card

Anyone knows if Apple gift cards are refundable at coles? With the seal intact ofc.

        • +1

Anyone knows if Apple gift cards are refundable at coles? With the seal intact ofc.

Just because you had to pay by credit card? Definitely not. It's already been activated

        • +1

Gift cards are only refundable at Coles (and Woolworths and pretty much every other business in Australia) if a refund is required by Australian Consumer Law (e.g. someone tampered your gift cards, leading to you activating gift card codes that were not in the packaging).

As @kerfuffle has already told you, change of mind refunds are definitely not possible, because Coles is only selling Apple gift cards on behalf of a gift card issuer (which I think is InComm, but I'm not entirely sure…) and has no idea whether you have already redeemed part or the full balance.

          • +2

@WookieMonster: I don't think any merchant offers refunds on gift cards after purchase (unless of course if consumer law comes into play as you have mentioned above).

If you purchase the wrong gift card or you didn't get your FB points, those are not grounds for refunds.

    • +2

      Yes.

I paid for my eBay cards this morning with a discounted Coles giftcard at self serve checkout.

  • Does anyone know how long does it take for points to show up on the account?

    • +1

      A few days

    • +4

Normally, it will show up on your account around 4pm Sydney/Melbourne time on the day after the transaction.

However, there have been some cases recently where the points showed a few days after the transaction.

      • +3

Mine still not showing up so few days may be the case for me

  • Bought 5 ebay gift cards, thanks OP!

  • -1

does this deal need to be activated before using?

  • -1

If you have link account will it work as one account or 2 accounts…My wife and I have a card each which we receive a same email for bonus point when she scan her card or I scan my card the point go to the same account

    • +1

I'd open an separate account for one of youse immediately .

    • +2

anyone have a translation for this?

      • +1

Mr and Mrs Youse have joint accounts.

    • +3

You and your wife have separate cards for the same account, so for this promotion, between you and your wife, you can only earn bonus points on five eligible gift cards.

For example, if you buy three eligible gift cards and scan your card, and then your wife buys four eligible gift cards and scan her card, you’ll only receive 10,000 bonus points, not 14,000 bonus points.

      • +1

        Thank you WookieMonster.

      • +1

10,000 bonus points, not 14,000 bonus points.

Sometimes, family pooling really sucks for these bonus points.

But good thing, Flybuys does not check ID during account creation. ;-)

  • Do flybuys on the same family account have the same card number?

    • The limit of 5 gift cards is per Flybuy account. It doesn't matter if the Flybuys card is the same number or not…

      • I'm trying to work out whether our flybuy cards in the family are linked. If each account has its own card number, then its not linked right?

        • +2

Why not login to your account and see if she's linked?

      • I have just checked my family linked account and the cards all have different numbers. Just open new accounts in each person's name. You can get a temporary card immediately. Need a different email and mobile for each. If you use fake birthdays make sure to keep a record as they use it to identify you when you call them. I usually use a different CC or GC with each account and some others have also mentioned this but may not be necessary.

  • +1

I will never tell you Coles Liverpool NSW has more than 50 eBay GC left :D

  • For those that have bought, are your Coles selling the ebay gift card with red or black writing at the back?

    • Huh? What the differences would that make?

      • +1

        They have different product codes.

I had both at my store.

I scanned the red ones and they scanned fine while the black ones did not scan with error saying item not found. Potentially somebody took them from different stores and left them there.

        • I had something like this happen at the store I went to. The ebay card would not scan in properly (so didn't worry about getting it). Can't remember the colour of the card now though, but it's probably this issue.

  • Nothing left at store near me - baulkham hills

    $250 Netflix credit
Your account is paid until 9 April 2023

    • I hope you're using Turkish Netflix

      • +1

Nope, against my morals, much like GPS spoofing for 7 eleven fuel.

        • +1

          Negged for having morals 😂

          • @John Kimble: How do you know the reason of why people negged you?

My understanding is whoever negged you, negged you because you said it's against your morals like GPS spoofing for 7/11 fuel.

It doesn't mean they negged you for having morals. Everyone has morals.

  • why is it they don't give activation receipts anymore. How to prove it was activated? The only receipt i got was the receipt for the purchase… there is no correlation with the giftcard number.

    • +8

seperate activation receipts is only for Woolworths. for Coles, it is on their receipt, there is seperate approval for each gift card, with the last 3 digits of the gift card on the receipt.

      • I see it now. Thanks.

    • +1

If you look closely, the receipt will have the numbers that correlates to the barcode on the card. You have to look at a few to see the pattern. They are there.

  • Still heaps at my local coles. Grabbed 5 eBay while pickup kids.

    • That's a good way to keep fit, multitasking.
Hopefully Coles don't charge you for a gym membership

  • Do the bonus points appear on the receipt?

  • Not a single $50 ebay gift card near me! All gone :(

    • Same here. If only I had gotten up at 6AM, and lined up at my local Coles.

      • I finally found them after visiting 4 different Coles lol. Some Coles didn't even stock any kind of eBay cards.

  • There's still heaps of all gift cards left @ Coles South Melbourne. I suspect it's because for some reason they have the promotion signages for next week up instead!

    • Probably all OzBargained after your comment.

  • +1

So, don't get $100 ebay, right?

Confirmed, cannot use flybuys dollars to pay.
    No confirmation bonus on receipt

  • anyone knows how to add ebay giftcard to your ebay account without purchasing (much like you can add giftcard on Amazon)?

    • +3

I don't think you can. You cant see the activity history either - totally non transparent. It's a pain.

      • +3

What is even more painful is when you purchase items with gift cards, there is absolutely zero indications as to which gift cards were used.
You cannot find this information anywhere other than to call customer support.

Amazon, on the other hand, provides a complete audit log of gift cards used against order numbers.

        • +1

ebay support refused to tell me what my gift card used was. They said it was privacy concern, its pretty poor. They giftcard can disappear as part of a system glitch and you have no evidence to show that its not used.

  • +1

My partner used her flybuys for 5 giftcards before me at a checkout. When I used my flybuys for another 5 cards, the operator invalidated my flybuys (I did scan my card succesfully) without letting me know.

The term says 'per flybuys', not per household! So sad that I dont get my 10k points and points for other items.
    Be aware.

    • +5

Here’s a suggestion: go back to the store you purchased the gift cards from with your Flybuys card and your receipt, go to the service desk and ask for your Flybuys card to be added to the transaction. If you do that within seven days of the date of purchase (and assuming you and your partner are not on the same Flybuys account), you’ll get your 10,000 bonus points (and whatever amount of standard Flybuys points owed to you).

Remember that you will only get the 10,000 Flybuys points if you and your partner have separate Flybuys accounts. If you two are separate cardholders that are on the same Flybuys account, you won’t get the 10,000 bonus points anyway (but you’ll still get standard Flybuys points).

      • +1

        Many thanks for clarifying.
We are on two different flybuys accounts. I will go back to the same store and talk to the manager.

        • +4

You don't need to talk to the manager, and you can add your flybuys card at ANY serviced checkout, not just the service desk.

          • @truetypezk: Thanks for your suggestion. Will do.

          • +2

@truetypezk: Yes, best not to talk to the Manager, unless you have to. Just treat it as a routine I forgot to scan my card.

            • +1

@Yola: Thank you. I have my bonus points back now :-)
I agree that it might be not a good idea to talk to the manager to make things more complicated.

              • +1

@RimofLeo: I can understand your frustration, but I honestly would not speak to a store manager about it in this case, mostly because it is very straightforward to have your Flybuys card retroactively added to a transaction after it has been finalised (as you know by now). You’ll still meet any bonus points offers you have activated on your account, which is also good. However, if the cashier scanned someone else’s Flybuys card, I would definitely raise it with Coles customer care and have them reach out to the store manager.

On the other hand, if this happened at Woolworths, I would definitely raise it with Woolworths customer care in the first instance, because Woolworths (or Woolworths Metro or BIG W) stores cannot retroactively add your Everyday Rewards card to a transaction after it is finalised. You have to reach out to Everyday Rewards directly, and then it is up to the Everyday Rewards team whether they manually credit you any points. You will also not earn any points from any bonus points boosters based on that spend, so it really becomes a massive headache.

                • +2

@WookieMonster: I didnt know such difference between Flybuys and EverydayRewards. Thanks for your fantastic explaination.
Reading comments like this is equivalently beneficial to this popular deal itself.

  • still no sign of 2k points showing up - bought $100 amazon GC

    • Im with you, lets see this evening.

      • Same

        • -2

Yah all should be in the NoValueClub vs Ebay double pts and stacking lol :)
Really no bargain hunting skills .

    • did you buy a $100 card specifically or the variable load card and loaded with $100?

  • Where are people getting Coles discounted gift cards from?

  • I brought gc yesterday, still nothing reflected on my flybuy account. It's not real time?

    • +1

      Correct, it’s not real time.

You should see the bonus and standard points credited to your account around 4pm Sydney/Melbourne time today, but keep in mind that in some cases it can take a few days for the points to be credited to your account.

    • Haven't got mine yet either. Other posts indicate it can be up to a few days.

      • +1

Usually fastest is 1, sometimes 2 days. Not 24 hours or sooner

  • +9

    Points are in
    Woot!

    • +1

Yep , I see the points as well

    • Yep, bought 5 cards last night at 7pm and 10250 points added already :)

    • Just checked and can confirm, cheers!

  • -2

    • +1
