24.5 inch….. FHD….. unless you're a pro gamer 240Hz is unnecessary. Rather go lower refresh and higher res.

    • +9

your not really gonna notice the higher res on a 24.5 inch. so why wouldnt you go the higher hz ?

      • +1

I would prioritise higher res/screen size… say 27 inch with 144hz for the same price.. the benefit you get with a bigger screen trumps any noticeable difference or competitive edge you'd get with a smaller screen but higher refresh.

          • @dcep: But how many competitive csgo players are there on ozb though… I may be wrong but I think most here would opt for a monitor thats good medium for games/movies/work. Again I may be underestimating the amount of pro gamers on here lol

            • @umoddbro: I know quite a few people that would be interested in seeing 24.5inch 240hz deals so…

        • Plenty games to take advantage of these frames, even if not competitively the option of having a 240Hz is still great, R6, Valorant, CSGO, Overwatch plenty games to take advantage of with this monitor.

this is best for people who play solely fps competitive shooters.

      • +2

Yeah, i don't see many pros or youtubers using above a 27" screen for warzone

Literally, never seen one with a 32"

        • it really doesn't matter, you can always move the monitor back and it'll literally look the same

    • +1

you're not really gonna notice higher res on fast paced FPS gaming so why wouldn't you go for higher hz ?

      • +1

you do notice the res, its just a trade off between fps/faster response time and resolution, more fps/faster response wins out since your brain can somewhat interpolate between pixels in your head. higher res is always nice just not attainable with the same fps, anybody that opts for higher res and lower fps is not seriously competing.

also IPS panels have slower pixel response compared to TN panels, so serious competitors go for the latter

        • +1

TN panel usage has gone down, especially with 360/390hz IPS panels now in the market beating out TNs. Outside of Dyac specific monitors, TN is pretty much dated in all aspects.

  • Display port 1.2 does this equate to hdmi 2.1 for next gen console support?

  • Any good monitors with webcam and speaker? 27 inch?

  • Anyone know how often Dell does large discount coupons on ebay. Saw this yesterday on ebay via a posted ozbargain discount link and coupon still marked in post as active, but when go to purchase, now coupon not valid. Coupon code brought it under 300.

And anyone know this is VA or IPS? Thx

  • I am currently looking for one but 27inches. What do you guys think of this? https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/alienware-27-gaming-monitor-…

    • +1

Keep in mind this is 27 inch FHD. meaning some text may look blurry/broken up. However in games its not as noticeable

  • code is gone now sorry guys

Buying a monitor seems unnecessarily complicated. Why are there such a plethora of monitors for playing the occasion game and watching movies??

  • Is this monitor suitable for getting 120fps on PS5? Or should I be looking for something else?

    • Sure is but you could probably get a 144hz or 165hz monitor for a lot cheaper

      • Oh right. Any recommendations that I can keep an eye out for?

        • I got an Asus 144hz monitor from Amazon on sale for about $200 a few months ago, they’re full price now but there’s a Lenovo Legion 144hz on there for $199 atm

    • You'd probably want 4k screen with PS5.

      • Damn. 4k 120Hz monitors are pretty expensive at the moment. Would there be a huge difference between 1080p and 4k on a 23-27inch monitor? Or would the size make the difference quite negligible?

        • Not many games support high frames anyways unless you put your game mode into performance mode. For PS5 gaming, I’d say larger 4k screen is better than high refresh screens.

          • @lookingforTV: Oh right. So maybe best to wait until more games start supporting higher refresh rates before investing in a monitor. Thank you for that.
