Google Nest Doorbell (Battery, GA01318-AU) $274.49 + Postage (HK) @ F Digital Catch

100

Ships from overseas but it's the Australian model, which means OW should price beat by 5%, at least that was my experience.

Can't super recommend these - a bit slow, the experience isn't great at least on iOS and the battery life has gotten worse quickly.

      Agree with this comment.

Chat through phone app on non google devices have volume issue, so you cannot communicate through the doorbell using the phone app.

The battery now last about 4 to 5 weeks from full charge (bought it about 3 months ago with the pre order).

Also, the bell notification is regularly delayed up to an hour which makes it somewhat useless. Very disapointed with this product, wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

      • you may wanna check your settings? the battery on mine lasts for 5 months… the notifications are pretty much instant as well.

        • It's not settings - they just aren't that great.
I can attest to getting doorbell notifications wayyyy later.

My Dufy cams are instant and great battery life - I might try their doorbell.

          • @theguyrules: That’s strange. Perhaps my doorbell is not triggered as often then. not sure if it matters but all my stuff are with Google’s eco-system.

        • Good for you :D

  • Whats the shipping like?
$299 at Good Guys and Officeworks.

    • Not sure, I had OW beat the price and arrange a free store collection.

About $237 AUD delivered (according to my 28 degrees cc) to Sydney metro here, plus choice of colour: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1657265-REG/google_ga…

That's the US version, which shouldn't matter but if you want to run it off power, rather than battery, worth checking voltage requirements etc.

      • Charges using USB…

Plus if you want to use mains, it uses doorbell voltage which is independent of mains voltage

I’m really wanting one but waiting for a big price drop or an improved model as all the reports of slow responsiveness and inferior battery life are putting me off. Plus there is the subscription plan you need to buy if you want access to footage from more than 3 hours ago recordings and facial recognition. That said, the B&H Photo deal is tempting.

  • bought one today from GG. Unable to setup via android (Note 10+/ S20 Plus). Keep getting a "no internet connectivity on network" error. Tried everything including factory reset - no dice (the internet connection is fine). Anyone else face the same issue?

Might return this tomorrow. Pity - was looking forward to it. Bought it over the Eufy because of the security issues in the latter.

    • Nope, had no issue whatsoever, Unifi based network, 20 mins setup. Do you have client isolation enabled or something similar? Also try rebooting your router.

      • Tried everything (router, phone, bell) reset and reboot. Google support were no help either.

What finally worked was setting up the bell via mobile hotspot. This updated the firmware on the doorbell. Then factory reset it and was able to set up on my regular wifi without any issues. Seems the older firmware had issues with my Asus router.
