Bone hook for cutting through chickens and joints

Will this cut through human bones. Asking for a friend

      666?? Wtf

        😈 <- Friend

Beware the scissors of the beast.

    • Only up until 3 years of age

  • +1

I rather get the free Scissors from Coles… just 10 reward points.

    • We have both.. no comparison in quality. The coles ones don't come apart for cleaning either.

      • That is a good feature for scissors.

        • -2

Until you try to use it to open a cardboard box with tape and they fall apart. So both types have their place.

  • +9

These things are f'in legendary. Tempted to buy another pair for this price so my housemates can always carve open Indo-Mie without reprise.

    • +1

Well, technically they’re Classic, but I have to admit that Mundial 666 F’in Legendary Shear Scissors has a certain raw appeal to it

    • always carve open Indo-Mie without reprise.

What do you mean? Uncooked? Why?

  • +4

$15 is standard price? Even Peter's of Kensington selling them for $15. Was $17 in Aug '21 and Apr '20

    • -2

Hand wash only; Made in China

      • +2

Mundial are (still) made in Brazil

        • +5

They’re so good that they can be used to clear the rainforest

        • +2

That’s not what it said on the listing; it says made in China there. My pair from ~20 years ago has “STAINLESS BRAZIL” embossed on the handle. I notice that’s missing in the Amazon images.

          • +2

            @ak47wong: …Brazil…missing Amazon…
When I browse through comments that’s what I read, very accurate :)

      • +1

        No dishwash no deal

        • +2

Dishwasher them all the time no problem. May reduce lifespan but if it drops from 15 years to 10 that's fine by me!

  • -4

Looks the same as my $5 TaoBao scissors, mine even come with a magnet holder.

  • -4

I'd rather have 7 1/2 Reject Shop scissors for the same price :)

    • 1/2 reject, what the other half?

  • Does anyone know how to sharpen these? I have one pair that is blunt and does not cut well at all.

    • +1

Honestly, at this price, just buy a new one. Scissors have a different profile to normal knives and would be difficult to do correctly.

      • Surely a whetstone would do the job?

    • I heard if you folded one piece of tin foil & fold them 3-4 times, cut the tin foil with the scissor. This method should work sometimes.

    • You could try cutting some folded up foil, I've heard/read that can help the edge on scissors. Dunno how true it is

      • +1

This is BS. A somewhat dated sort of 'folklore'.

Does anyone know how to sharpen these? I have one pair that is blunt and does not cut well at all.

How many bones you been cutting up there, Dexter?

      • +1

Ever had to cut those welded blister plastic packaging things? I’ve lost so much blood over the years…

      • Haha. I like to spatchcock my birds over charcoal. I think getting through turkeys has dulled the edges.

    • Yes. You can whetstone sharpen them.

    • +1

      cut sandpaper into strips

    • May I suggest you tighten the hinge nut first.

Gently prise off the plastic "nut cover", red round on hinge point.
Then tighten the nut underneath with the scissors open, until you get the required pressure of one blade against the other.

      Can make a huge difference.

I'm coming back, I will return
And I'll possess your body and I'll make you burn
I have the fire, I have the force
I have the scissors to make my evil take its course

    • Username checks out. (OK, I know, not on this album)

      • Haha! I really should just change my name to McBrain.

  • [eBay Plus] Mundial Take-A-Part Kitchen Shears $13.26 Delivered @ Peters of Kensington eBay @ 17/09/2021

  • These types of scissors across the range and brands are somewhat similar in… quality but realistically need to be sharpened about twice a year as a general rule. They usually come with knife blocks such as Mundial, Wusthoff' etc.
They are indeed 'kitchen' scissors and have a short blade length. Using them for fabric and such would not be recommended.

Most of them separate to allow easier cleaning and sharpening. It's a good idea to have a pair of these in kitchens especially for cutting up chicken. There are specifically made 'Chicken Scissors' which are better for doing so but typically cost more and are more robust. Better 'Chicken' shops end up using them as these ones are very basic, but still effective for common kitchen use.

    • I have had the same pair of Wustoff scissors for about 10 years - never sharpened them, used on all sorts of things but never on animal carcasses, still the best pair in the house.

      • +3

Interesting… wondering. Could you try cutting a piece of (common) A4 paper and let me know how they cut? TIA.

  • We got a pair of these as part of a knife set back in 2006 and it's still going strong - in fact all the knives are!

    • Yep same here, solid knife block for sure

  • High quality scissors, purchased 6 months ago 100% happy, paid 22 bucks on Ebay.

Also $15 on eBay Peters of Kensington ($14.25 with eBay PLUS code PBDS5)

My ikea one is still sharp and cut through bones after 10 years of use

  • Mundial kitchen scissors had a pair for over 13 years before they broke.

Dying to hear what happened once they lost their, ehm, pair.

    • +2

looks like you're being kept hanging there

      • I dropped the mic and left, but nobody seems to notice.

        • Once the pair dropped, they refused to see their place in the kitchen. The shear audacity of these 6ist 666's.

    • I have an IKEA one, it's still sharp and cuts well after 10 years, but the plastic blade support cracked when I was cutting up a chicken. Friend bought me a woolies one and it jammed up after the first use, so went back to the Ikea one. I picked up this one during the last deal and only opened them yesterday, have to say they feel impressive, will never jam up due to the design, worth just buying the first time and avoiding the lottery

  • +1

I am using one for 15 years
    Bought at $5 /piece
Recently bought Joseph and Joseph power grip for around $22 and it is a piece of S**t compared to mundial.
From my experience J &J products are just a novelty rather than top quality products at exorbitant prices

    • Came to pile on this Joseph Joseph brand, their stuff is all plastic and has a high novelty value, but I have never been able to bring myself to buy any of it. It's amazing how much some of it goes for

  • I'm not overly superstitious, but the devil number in the title is enough to put me off from buying these.

    • +6

Then you're more superstitious than you think you are.

  • I bought this yesterday, received today. Opened the packaging and saw rust on the scissors. Organised return.
Wouldn't touch this brand again now.

  • I’ve had a pair for around 20 years, came in there knife set block.
    Never had issues or rust..

  • You can get free kitchen scissors with the coles promotion

  • +1

These look and feel cheapo compared with the original ones that came with the Mundial knife block sets. Finish is rough but I guess for $15 delivered can't complain. An overall let down on the Mundial brand.
