  • Can this jump start a HINO 500 truck?

    • Yes.

    • +4

Hino 500 would be a 24v system, but you can hook it up to one of the batteries to help a bit

      • Thx

      • My 24v truck wouldnt start on me one late afternoon ready to head home from work, dont know what spec I have but its only a 12v unit I just put it on one of the batteries and it managed to get it started so I could at least get home.

  • +1

Waiting for guy comment who jump start nipples ;)

  • Well I'm sold. Thank you.

    • +1

What for you next bdsm session…..

      • +1

        Didn't you get the invite?

  • +1

Does the code work with smaller model jump starters?
Feels like overkill getting the biggest jump starter when realistically the smaller ones would work for my use…

    • Yeah my question too. Trying to get the 1200A one for less than $120

    • Tried the code on the smaller model, no dice sadly.
The irony that I can get the better/bigger model for the same price as the smaller one.

    • +1

Just grab this one, battery won't always stay at 100% capacity and you never know what you may need to jump start.

    • +1
      • ~$130ish when you select the only available option, and when you do it says it can't be shipped to Australia.

  • +1

Will this fit in the glovebox?

    • +1

      Yes

    • +2

That depends on the size of you glovebox.

    • +1

I don't have this size but leave it in the boot where the jack is. Find it stays cooler than the cabin of the car.
I worry a little about leaving it in a car on 40°+ days.

  • +1

    Thanks op. Got one

  • +3

    Cheers op purchased

Coincidently watched a review yesterday and this brand came out on top by far

  • +1

I've been waiting for it to go on sale. Thanks OP bought one.

  • when do you actually use this?

    • +2

… to jump start your car?

My old car had a faulty battery. Jumpstarted the car with this to drive to the auto store for a new batt, then jumpstarted to take it back home to chuck in the new battery.

    • -1

2 days ago when we were camping my son decided he was cold. Took my phone into the car, plugged it into a battery, then turned the car key to alternator (just b4 start) and put on the aircon and tunes. Dead battery in no time…….

      • +2

then turned the car key to alternator

The alternator is what charges your car battery. There is no ignition switch position for alternator

and put on the aircon and tunes. Dead battery in no time…….

You can't run the aircon without the engine running because the aircon is powered by the engine.
And if your son was cold he would want the heater and you also need the engine running because the heater uses the heat from the engine.

If your battery can't power the radio and having the ignition turned on for a while you probably need a new battery

        • "then turned the car key to alternator

The alternator is what charges your car battery. There is no ignition switch position for alternator."

You're right, I meant accessory. Though in truth, it was the on position - the possy where it sits just b4 & after you've clicked it forward to start the car. The one where all the lights come on in the dash.

Battery is good and less than a year old. Actually had it checked the day before when I had the car serviced.

Absolutely - if you've ever camped in the Outback or on a deserted beach you'd know - you can run a brand spanking new battery down with the radio on.

  • -1

Can you shock people with this for a prank

    • +9

Yes it’s called going to jail

  • https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/certa-water-resistant-portable-… Buy this instead if you’re jump starting regular car. Will work on most cars and cheap.

    • Damnit, wish you had posted 30 mins earlier!

    • Thanks for the link but postage killed it for me.

    • That's the one I finally got to use 2 days ago. Brought in Aug 2020 for $99 and finally got to use it. $69.99 now.

  • Because this has 4000A to start a vehicle, is there any risk to blowing the circuit boards or onboard computers that most modern cars have?

    • +5

For a regular car it will blow the engine up and kill everyone inside the car

    • I dont know what the 4000A refer to but this model produces approx 600 cranking amps

      • 4000A

        Peak current.
In real life usage, the device will never generate that peak current - maybe for a fraction of a second when safe mode is disabled.

The only reason they mention this figure is purely for marketing.

    • No.

    • +3

      thats not how it works
your car will only draw as much power as it needs

its like how your home 240V power point can supply up to 15A (depending on various things but im just simplifying it) but that doesnt mean everything you plug into your power point at home will draw 15A

besides that this will probably only do around 800A max when cranking an engine

      • +2

its like how your home 240V power point can supply up to 15A

        You mean 10A

        • No! he does mean 15A.

My Bosch Dishwasher requires a 15A power lead, if the provided power lead is to short, according to Bosch you cannot use a 10A extension lead as it will overheat and end in tears.

          • @Jackamo:

            No! he does mean 15A.

No! They do not mean 15A, that is incorrect. Normal power points are rated at 10A, not 15A

Here is a photo of a 15A plug, you will notice it has a larger earth pin and will not fit into a 10A socket.
            https://www.bunnings.com.au/hpm-15a-clear-plug-top_p4330042

Here is a 15A socket, you will notice it has a larger earth pin and does not look like a normal power point.
            https://www.bunnings.com.au/deta-15a-double-power-point-_p44…

Here is a 10A socket which you will find all over your house and you will notice looks like the power points in your house. These are not rated for 15A and will not accept a 15A plug.
            https://www.bunnings.com.au/hpm-10a-double-powerpoint-with-e…

            Here is a 25A socket
            https://www.edaonline.com.au/product/25-amp-single-gpo-power…
Just because this socket exists and can be installed in your house does not mean that you can draw 25A from all outlets.

My Bosch Dishwasher requires a 15A power lead if the provided power lead is to short, according to Bosch you cannot use a 10A extension lead as it will overheat and end in tears.

Yes you might need a 15A connection on a long cable run (not short) because the voltage drop on a long cable run will mean the appliance draws more amps.

That is unlikely to be the case in a typical house and does not change the fact that 10A outlets are standard, not 15A outlets.

  • Watch project farm review, this is quite good, own one myself it jumpstarts and i also use it with a tyre pump.

The last 4 I got from Amazon and 2 different Alliexress all come in the same Amazon box.

  • Will this jump start a Komatsu HD1500-8 MINING DUMP TRUCK (142 tonnes)?

    • Yes but buy 2 jump starters, connect them to each other using the clamps go red to black and black to red. They will jump each other making unlimited energy.

    • Yes, but not the 143 tonne version.

  • Seems strange that there is no mention of the battery capacity in mAh

    • WHr is a better measure of capacity since voltage is unknown. states 99.2Whr so probably circa 6000mah @ 15v. Ps dont confuse this with the chinese mAh ratings on powerbanks, they generally add all the cells together to get their 20000mah ratings , which if you are drawing @ say 5v for usb then that would be trueish. So again WHr is a better rating than mAh since you need to know the volts

  • How do these go with being left in the car all the time? I thought it wasnt a good idea to leave batteries in your car, as when it heats up they could expand and possibly explode.

    • +1

I leave mine (Certa, not this brand) under a seat or in the spare tyre well. Take it out on the 1st of each month and top up the battery. Have had it since Aug 2020 and finally got to use it with no issue 2 days ago.

  • +1

Anyone who bought this, tell me how often you use in it and why you have one. I can understand a mechanic would buy it since he may have to start a lot of dead battery cars. Maybe a owner or business who owns a fleet of cars.

I have 2 cars and at time it can be left parked over a fortnight. I found I may have to jump start once every 1 to 2 years when the battery is on its way out. I think I have jump start a lot more than a lot of people yet I cannot seem to justify buying. I admit it is very convenient to have this portable battery than trying to align the cars for cabling.

    • +3

Camping. Engel fridge on cigarette lighter plug. Dead batteries happen.

      LIfe saver.

  • Had to cancel order and try again due to Amazon problem. Can't use code again! Sound about right?

  • +2

good investment. it pays itself off if you use it once or twice and you don't have roadside assist. beats paying for a tow truck

    • +1

Unless you drive a manual car.

And if you drive an automatic you don't need a tow truck. Just jumper leads and help from another motorist.

      • I use to be like this, but with Covid I’m not sure seeking help from others is a good move these days… I’d rather spend $150 and help minimise the spread

  • My previous Gooloo has all flashing LED lights when I try use it and refuses to charge my phone or to jump start my car, what can I do? It's about of warranty as well

    • Try charging it.

  • +1

Have the smaller one, loaded kids into car and got ready to go, ignition is completely dead. Pulled this out of the glovebox and 1 min later was on the road.

Turns out someone was playing in the car and left a door light switch in the on position!

Much better than waiting for Racv for something so simple

    • Thanks for sharing this, that’s a great use case, I'm sold!
Hope it won’t have any trouble with my 3.0L V6 Diesel

      • Should be no prob, can do my 2.5L 4cl and 3.0 6 cylinder.

    • If a door light was able to flatten your battery then you need a new battery.

And most (or all) cards should turn the light off when you lock the car.

      • 2026 Subaru Outback is meant to have a 30mjn cut off for electrical but hey the car seems to let itself run flat when you force the light in the on position.

Not sure but cars not really being driven much this last 2 years so might have something to do with it.

Put the car on a ac battery charger and seems to be ok now (few weeks)

  • +1
    • I’m trying to figure out a way to make sure the Gooloo is all ways topped up with juice
Can this be left in the car connected for charging sort of in a perm mode?
Is there any overcharging risk? Could this damage the Gooloo battery? Or any other risks/hazards?

    Cheers

    • +1

Li-Ion batteries don't do well being stored fully charged.
I set an alarm to take it out of the car and charge every 3 months.

      • +1

Why not use that alarm to check your car battery every 3 months.

You save on buying a device that isn't necessary and put the money towards a new battery for your car.

        • A few reasons:
          Our family has multiple cars
We sometimes use the jumpstarter as portable 12V power to power things like camping fridge.
At a pinch, its our backup mobile phone powerbank when we get to our destination and realise our phone is low on power.

Not everyone needs one of these but for $150, it is useful to us to have around.

    • Just leave plugged into cig lighter or charged when I wash the car

  • Just sharing my experience. I had the same brand but the 2000A version of this from Amazon but it would not jump start the car even though my car was rated well below the specs advertised.
Returned to Amazon and bought the NOCO Boost X GBX55 1750A. This worked right away and IMO is much more reliable but are double the price.
