  • appears to be $5/mth thereafter

    • Hi there,

That's correct. It's $1 per month for the first 3 months then it reverts to the original price of $5 per month.

      Cheers,
      QC

  • Could I legit run chia on this?

    • +2

      Hi there,

Running a chia miner will impact other users on the hardware node so it's not allowed.

      Cheers,
      QC

      • Thanks for being honest!

So what your saying is you literally take a look at everyone's server. Ain't that a breach of privacy then?

        • +1

We don't look at anyone's server but if we see one VPS constantly smashing the disk IO on the host node and it's affecting other users, it will be a breach of the TOS.

    • with 30GB space you cannot even enough get a pot :D

  • DigitalOcean user here. How do you compare yourself with them? Cheers.

      Hi there,

We've had many users migrate over to us from other VPS providers like DigitalOcean and they've enjoyed the increased performance provided by our Xeon Gold CPUs and Pure NVME storage.

For instance, we allow each VPS to use a full physical core for each virtual core provided to it. This means that if you get a QUBIT-1 VPS, you can use a full physical core.

      Cheers,
      QC

I am sold and would love to give it a try. Thank you.

At $2k for 16 Gold cores, $125/core, that's 25mo to pay back the CPU at $5/mo. Not counting anything else. That's…not a great irr on these! Or it's a very generous plan haha.

        • Hi there,

We've been in business for a few years now and our parent company has been around for over 17 years so we're doing something right?

Also, like most budget hosts we don't plan to pay off our hardware after only 5 months. Your calculations also don't include the fact that a majority of users won't constantly max out their CPU allocation but they do enjoy the ability to use the full CPU allocation if required.

          Cheers,
          QC

          • @Quantum Core: I think he said 25 months at $5 a month to pay back just the CPU allocation alone. Not including anything else.

            • @poiterbad: Hi there,

My mistake, looks like I misread their reply.

Anyway, incipient's calculation would be correct if we provided a dedicated CPU core for each virtual CPU core. I didn't state that we do this, instead I let the OP know that we don't limit each virtual CPU core to a % of a physical CPU core like a lot of budget VPS hosts do so they have the ability to use the full core when their server requires it. Also, when I say physical CPU core, I mean a core that's visible to host node so this does include HT cores.

Our latest node has 112 cores (including HT) so it's certainly capable of handling a few of the QUBIT-1 packages on it. If the OP decides to give us a try and isn't happy with the offering (I'd be very surprised by this) then they can cancel after the first month and it will only cost them $1 AUD.

Also, if anyone is interested in the benchmark results for this offering, have a look at -

              https://serverscope.io/trials/GB27#system

The above results are from our latest node which is what new packages are currently being provisioned to.

              Cheers,
              QC

@Quantum Core: You keep saying "full physical core" too, do you mean these boxes are all 1C/2T? Or there is no HT enabled?

  • Looking for ideas… what could the average Joe Bloke do with a $1 VPS?

    • +1

Routable IP using VPN if your ISP is CGNAT.
Though you can do the same and more (like run plex) with the free tier Oracle Cloud VPS.

    • if that's a "real" 1 physical core with 2 threads server, you can host a Minecraft server for 5-10 pp to play.

  • Any deals on hosting?

    • Hi there,

Send me through a message with what package you're interested in and I'll see what I can do :)

      Cheers,
      QC

      • Hello, I need around 30x QUBIT-1. Is there a better deal than $5 per month?

  • When will this deal expire? thanks :)

    • +1

      Hi there,

There's no current expiration date so it's pretty much until we run out of stock :)

They're selling fast though so it might end in a few days.

      Cheers,
      QC

  • great deal, thank you!

  • Use their Shared Hosting.

Been rock solid uptime wise (100% uptime every month since July 2021 except 4min downtime in December checked q1min for keyword)
Server loads are very low on the intermittent spot checks I have done
Support is great and issues get sorted within a day or two I've found (shared hosting and only minor issues raised so far)

  • Any chance of a code for something with 2 cores? I'd be interested in that.
