myCOOLMAN CEP 47 Litre Portable Fridge / Freezer $499 @ Anaconda

100

Was looking for a portable cooler to take camping and came across this.

I'm not exactly sure how good a deal it is, I'm still doing research into it, but a $300 RRP saving is a good start (It's currently $700 at costco)

Hopefully the Cooler experts here can chip in but the reviews seem decent.

For another $70 (ebay+ is $50 off) you can get a Kings Stayzcool 45l with 5 year warranty delivered

    • +3

would not buy a kings over this… not even if it was cheaper

      • Yep me too but at the same time every 4wd and camping stuff are copies of other companies so don’t really know who to trust lol

        • Haha yupppp

        • The king's fridge is a rebranded Iceco model: VL45ProS

Reviews seem good, German made but relatively new brand to the market. Also, I'd generally consider Anaconda "club price" as just the normal-non-price-jacked price.

If you're not in a hurry, I'd hold out for a deal like this.

Dometic/Waeco, Evakool, Engel… Established reps as bulletproof/quality and good resale because of this. That being said I'm a pretty new to the camping game so happy to be corrected.

    • Ty mate

That deal includes a $50 cover but does not have low battery protection

This deal requires a $100 cover

I am no expert but the battery cut off at the appliance means you can take it to any boat, battery or car etc

I'd pick this deal as I'm happy with the feedback and I Camp with dumb dumbs

The guy who owns MyCoolman used to design product for Waeco (now a Dometic brand) so the design principles of the product are sound.

Their after sales support is significantly better than Dometic.

The CEP fridge is pretty much the same fridge as the one sold through Also, do not a stellar performer for battery efficiency. The CCP range are next level for battery efficiency, but also 2-3x the price.

It's this a good deal? Yes, but you need to be mindful of the efficiency of the appliance

    • Thanks for the info.

    • Thanks. Efficiency is pretty important for me as I'll be running it off a Bluetti battery power station.
I was too trigger happy and can't cancel the order now, so will have to return it when it arrives and look for a CCP model

Running on the battery for how long before recharge? Even the old one would be lucky to draw 5A at full cooldown (guesstimation), and once cool they use nothing.

        • We work on a 35 amps/day with our Evakool FM70, set at 2c in our camper trailer and being used regularly.

With 260AH of AGM batteries (effective capacity of 130AH so as not to drop below 12.1 volts), we work on having 2 full days of battery before needing a charge from solar panels or the tug in an emergency.

Secop/Danfoss compressors are bloody good, but can be a bit hungry. Insulation is everything, Engel seem to do it best, Evakool fibreglass is very good, and I did mention the Kings Stayzcool as it seems to be very well insulated too.

        • Not sure as I haven't got the power station yet, but I did purchase the solar panels with it so my guess would be 12 hours on battery before recharging.
So you think this should still ok under those conditions?

          • +1

@WarriorZ: I've got this model and i think it draws 5AH when it is running at full power, so depending on how big your battery is, you can work out what you need. Keep in mind that it won't be running at full all day and even less during cooler times and at night.

  • great fridge, btw doesn fit in the Patriot Camper.

cost more than my fridge in the kitchen

Is it convenient to take your fridge camping?

  • Own the 53L, great fridge! Ggoes great as a backup fridge with power outages with the additional battery back… can also plug it into a wall socket at home, and makes a great party fridge for drinks etc.

  • I own the mycoolman duel zone 69L with portable battery pack from Costco $800
    I paid …. I asked for a petter price
    It’s a bloody awsom fridge

    • How did you get that for $800? It’s currently 1500 at Costco

      • I asked for a better price

        • Didn’t think you could do that at Costco. Nice

          • @WarriorZ: I doo it all the time

            • @Dex38313: Do you do it at the register or ask a floor worker beforehand?

              • +1

@WarriorZ: I asked a manager they did offer for 900 I said iv got 800 that’s it and got it has battery n cover

  • Costco price on this 47 $730 so this is cheep

  • I've brought one of these units 2 months ago at $599 and can't fault it. I've used it as a spare freezer and for camping trips and it's been great.

As mentioned above the owners of mycoolman help start Waeco so the designs is good and practical, the dual open lid has been great as it means I can set it up in different positions based on what space I have and having dual power integrated means I only need to carry the 12V and 240V cables with me.

I don't do long trips away without access to 240V so efficiency isn't an issue for me, I do run it using a 70ah AGM in the car while I am travelling or doing day trips away and never had a problem with it, I suspect it draws around 4-5A/hr when I had the fridge out in the sun, this is an estimate based on how long it took me to recharge my AGM after a full day (10hrs) outdoor running it at 4 degrees. If you are away from any power source other than battery i would suggest you get a 120ah AGM battery and for even longer running time go lithium.

  • I bought this same model including the power bank thingo from Anacadona just before Christmas and used it over that period. Love it. Super well built and super cold! In fact, I had it too cold and a few beer bottles blew up but with the drain hole inside, it was also super easy to clean.

Kept it on the lighter charger whilst driving then easily switched over to the power bank when we pulled it out or the car was stopped.

    Highly recommend it.

    • Nice. How much were both those 2 at the time?

      • Battery is also on sale at anaconda for $299 at the moment, I think they are a good option to get you from point a to b but not sure about relying on a 15ah to last for a long time. I am planning to go a 70ah lithium later this year to replace the AGM setup I have.

  • So how do these compare to the Brass Monkey fridges from Jaycar? They look like the same plastic made in China fridges, though for the same price you can get a 60L dual zone fridge/freezer function from Jaycar.

    • +1

Completely different class, read up on the reviews, brass monkey has limitations on running at an incline that is no more than 5 or so degrees which is a deal breaker for me as flat ground is not guaranteed when you are camping. However the price did make it very tempting.

Before I decided on the mycoolman I looked into brass monkey, domestic/waeco cff range and the oztrail range.

      • Actually the brass monkey user reviews are pretty good, especially for replacement service if something goes wrong. Both haven’t been around that long, though. Mrcoolman even less I believe, and a lot of those industry reviews look a lot like press releases. Btw the founder is Waeco’s retired CFO - the money guy not an engineer - though undoubtedly he knows the business. I am leaning towards mc because it looks a little sturdier but I wouldn’t be surprised if they are both made in the same Chinese factory. I certainly wouldn’t pay the premium prices that are often charged for mc units.

        • Oh don't get me wrong, bang for buck the brass monkey is worth a look, the main issue for me was the incline.

  • +1

Don’t have a myCOOLMAN to compare with, but recently bought a 60L dual zone Brass Monkey (previous gen maybe?) for $499. Came with the cover, 3yrs warranty n Bluetooth app.
Can be a bit power hungry at times, but I have 200Ah batt, so can cope a few days without power.
Currently camping right now, been working well, tho I haven’t had to park on steep inclines.
