Oppo sounds like Apple with certain accents.

    • Except with an r instead of an l and no vo.

Can't unlock bootloader, no custom ROMs - PASS

    • -6

you can unlock it, any phone can have a custom ROM, just research it!

      • +6

I've searched XDA forums before posting that comment.

"any phone can have a custom ROM" - Most definitely not true!

        • -1

I will search it. I am sure there is something…

        • Huawei

      • +5

Incorrect. If the bootloader is locked and there aren't any devs making the ROMs, how would you get a custom ROM?

  • Penrith, Rouse Hill, Blacktown, Castlehill - All sold out
Apparently the phones were ringing like crazy.

Penrith had a display model only but no discount.

  • Pretty much stock in Gold coast qld

  • Instore now because some stores only have 1 left …. so could be display, could be in box, and they need to find it, it's why in-store only now …….. so they don't need to cancel on-line orders due to no stock.

    • That's my experience from all the calls I've made.
It seems like it's either 1 year old display models (refused to discount even though it's been on display and used for over a year) or missing stock

It's a good phone for the price but the previous Realme 7 5G sale at JB was better for the slighlty increased price.
120hz screen, 5000MAH battery as opposed to 4000MAH on this Oppo (Though 65w charging fixes this if you have the charger on hand)

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/633474

Again great specs for the price and especially for retail.
Though if you can spend the extra bit more, Look into a Poco X3 Pro or Poco F3 as they are amazing bang for dollar phones if you're willing to import.

Got last one in Plenty Valley VIC, used Suncorp Gift Card and also got the Norton $20 giftcard offer on the docket. Effective price was just $212.75. Very happy. Thanks Ozbargain.

    • +7

Norton lol who still uses that

      • +1

Not me…I will remove it as soon as the coupon is claimed.

  • +1

Nice. Excellent specs for the price but colour Os. Will stick to buying Xiaomi for the custom rom support but great post OP.

  • Not going to get hopes up until I get notified of order shipment…
JB have cancelled many of my orders in the past due to stock unavailability even so O/L orders are still being accepted hours after my order was placed. My order was placed today at 7AM so wait and see….

  • +6

On paper, this is an excellent phone for the price

Highlights: (Considering the phone is $245)

    • 8GB RAM
    • 5G
    • Snapdragon 765G for CHEAP — same chipset as OnePlus Nord, Google Pixel 4a & Google Pixel 5
    • Decent camera setup
    • Good battery capacity
    • ColorOS — apparently has gotten much better over time

If I didn't have a phone, didn't have much money and wanted something with 5G and newish specs, this would be my choice

    • +1

i was looking at a review and it said it charges to 100% in 30mins!

      • +3

OHH yupp I forgot to mention this has SuperVooc 65w charging!!

Incredible feature for a phone this price, my own phone right now has 30w charging HAHAHA

        • yeh i didnt even know it was a thing. these chinese brands are killing it at the specs dept

          • +1

@ChatCPT: For sure, although Oppo has made its name now… The Reno models have been known to provide good user experience for the last few years.

            • +4

@Zackeroo: Oppo is much bigger than Samsung, Apple and Google in the Asian markets. Even their marketing budgets are so much higher than the above brands in places like India.

              • @regenade: Well there you go. Additionally, Oppo is owned by the same company that owns my phone (OnePlus), so it really is quite widespread now.

  • No one to pricematch against ?

  • +5

The blue one will go one sale next, thats some the 13 52 44 line is saying :P

    • Did they mention when?

    • +1

      are you having a go?

  • Thank you OP!

This one is going to be tough to get in Vic - speaking to the Chadstone store it's all either one available or online hasn't updated fast enough and their phones are getting blown up about it.

  • I thought it would be an upgrade from A72 then I've read no headphone input and mono speaker.

  • +1

I'm pretty tempted but no SD card slot and only mono speakers :-(

    • +7

You don't need to decide there's no stock anywhere anymore

      • I'm in Perth, stock in Ocean Keys 8kms away from me and in Claremont apparently.

        • Did you buy via click and collect? What is the stock or item number as it is not in the website anymore

    • lol i would put both of those pretty low on my list of criteria

    404

  • +4

Well mine's apparently been shipped according to my order status. Happy days!
Need something to make me feel better ATM :(

  • Missed out :( link goes to 404 page )

The best part of it is the 2 years warranty. If for whatever reason this unit breakdown within 2 years. You have your money back!!!

    • +1

That's how I got my HTC 10 refunded at JB. However JB required the warranty leaflet (came in the box) which explicitly stated 2 years warranty - luckily I had it.

      • +1

I scan these things and receipts with my phone these days. Saved me several times!

  • Yay! Order is on the way. Thanks OP <3

  • Still have the screen showing the deal - should I attempt a local store that had stock this morning?

    • You can try but normally they will use their own computer to check it.

      • Went to jb hifi $499 now

  • +1

Was able to get staff to reserve and I picked it up just now using discounted Home gift card I stocked up last year or so ago. Thanks OP!

    • Thought of this too but didn't have mine on hand at the time :(
Really need to save them to my phone…

      • +1

Went in store. Confirmed stock and got payment docket then ordered gift cards for exact amt via Suncorp rewards and paid at counter

Have had the Oppo Reno 5g since May 2020. Came with it's own case and is pretty well bomb proof. Toddler has been using it for ages. Been thrown and dropped multiple times and still runs great. Only had to put a screen protector on it. It charges fast and battery is still great.

    • Oh yes that reno 5g 10x is one of the best phones I've used

  • brought this phone after my last one just died. it's killer. so happy with it. and has all the fun gestures my one plus had. I'm not a heavy user, I only use messenger, marketplace , and the occasial Reddit and battery is awesome on it. 100% happy with my purchase of only 250$!

  • +1

So was this confirmed to be a pricing error or was it a legit clearance price in which they had to honour?

    • It was a legit price afaik. As for trying to get it honored after the page was taken down, I didn't bother running around.

  • I have ordered in the early morning on the 13th, pretty much before Ozbargain picked up this deal. It must have been before 7 am. Got confirmed that my order was placed, money deducted but nothing else. This afternoon, I was given an email, totally silly in title, saying "Item deletion". I was refunded but it leaves an extremely sour taste. It is likely that someone has given what should have come my way, to someone else. JB hifi, sigh…
Has anyone else got similar experience?

    • C&C ? Deliver should be better.

    • and did someone neg me for telling what has happened to me? I might venture to guess the neg was given by JB hifi people, maybe the person responsible for diverting my order to someone who cut my line.

  • Mate, I opted for delivery. My order should have been up there because it was put in early. I did get an immediate email saying my order was secured right aftrt my order. Then, nearly two days later, my order of reno4 5g was canceled.

    • Yeah looks like they got given to people who picked them up

      • this prompt me to think that I was penalized for opting for delivery. If I went in the store and ordered, maybe JB hifi online would think twice about crossing A customer and a store rep at the same time? Online order can so easily be shrugged off like what happened to me. "deleted item" ? What a pathethic joke for excuse to unfairly treat their customer who ordered early.

  • This broden got 3 phones while majority are struggling to get even 1
