    • I've kept one, but it's such a waste that they're single use only. I can't believe that in this day and age companies are putting profits over environmental issues.

      • Oh…they don't fill eh. Damn, I hadn't even thought about that. Not a product I would usually choose then.

Usually I use those long matches, but thought these might be a bit easier.

    • I actually bought my lighter the morning this deal with posted before I knew anything about it, got home and was pleasantly surprised

  • +1

Heads up. As stated by @Woomobile, there has now been substantial price increases across the Weber store. E.g. the Family Q 3200 has gone up from $799 to $849.
    https://www.weber.com/AU/en/barbecues/weber-q-range/family-q…
    Or the Q3100 from $789 to $839:
    https://www.weber.com/AU/en/barbecues/weber-q-range/family-q…

The Family Q rotisserie gas gone up from $199 to $209
    https://www.weber.com/AU/en/accessories/cooking/rotisseries/…

The Weber Q breakfast plate has gone up from $49.95 to $54.95,
    https://www.weber.com/AU/en/accessories/cooking/griddles/web…

So unless stacking is still allowed, you'd have be pay out of pocket. Also, a lot of accessories now don't have free shipping anymore.

Do what you wish with this information, but to me, this is price gouging to compensate for an incompetence in managing and delivering a promotion.

The good guys have also increased their prices:
    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/weber-family-q-titanium-lpg-5…

But BCF and Appliances Online haven't as of yet: https://www.bcf.com.au/p/weber-family-q-q3100-gas-barbecue/3…

I for one know where I won't be taking my business.

    • I don't think this has anything to do with BIC. I for one have been shopping around for BBQ and have ended up getting family Q and master touch plus hoping to use the gift cards to get accessories. The price increase has been advertised for a while that it will be happening 1st of Feb. All weber specialist shops too have it advertised on their social media and web pages. I think this happens every year if I'm not mistaken.

      • +1

Then again maybe BIC knew about it and had agreement with Weber to run the promo at this time. Whichever way you look at it, this whole promo is a shitshow

    • +2

I don't think this is related to the promotion.
Every business out there are struggling with cost increases and are increasing prices to compensate across the board.
Free shipping is not an issue since you can redeem the giftcard in-store anyway.
Where I am, it's better to take the 15 minute drive to store and just pick up the stuff immediately rather than wait for Weber to ship it out. My order took more than a week to arrive from ordering and tracking didn't even work.
Also, I found the physical store to have way more stuff in stock whereas the online store had lots of stuff showing as out-of-stock.

    • Yup. This is a planned price increase as directed by Weber USA. Up to 10% up across all products.

    • Front page of site still says ‘free home delivery applies to all products & accessories’

tried with a few accessories and still has free shipping

  • +2

Just got my stuff delivered, $50 worth of Weber stuff for a $5 lighter 😂

  • Can confirm that giftcards work for acc and a max limit of 3..Managed to get the igrill 2 for $10 so all up $25 with 3 lighters.

    • Did you receive the giftcard after they started sending out the email with the revised process around selecting a bbq of your choice and sending them the payment details?

      • +1

Only got the giftcards yesterday and they had the caveat - ‘Please be reminded that your Reward Voucher Code is valid for 72 hours from today for you to use online via the Weber website for BBQ purchases only.’ However it still worked. The giftcards are the standard weber giftcards so can’t imagine them being able to differentiate issued ones for bbqs only…

        • Also my timeline was - bought and registered on 25/01. Giftcard issued on 01.02 So took about a week…

          • @kk93: Wait, what!? You registered on the 25th Jan and received a Weber gift card for use online/in store on the 1st Feb? Thought you would have received the Bic administered purchase email.

        • Thanks for confirming. Ludicrous how they say that in the email but they just send the giftcard anyway. No consistency whatsoever

          • @dji1111111: Well they probably realised it was unsustainable to administer a purchase themselves.

            • +1

              @RDY4ME: ^ Yup.

BIC or whoever 3rd party they've hired to administer this promotion don't even have the time or skill to correctly regulate the claim function of the process, let alone undertake further manual customer sales.

              • @kickling: Can anyone else verify receiving Weber gift cards after receiving the 'administered by the Buy & Win with BIC team' email?

                • @aliasneo2000: If you read through the last few days of commentary, you will see that people are still receiving GC's.

So that is the current status for all in general.

              • @kickling: It's not BIC themselves.
They actually paid (probably an absurd amount) this incompetent mob to run this promotion on their behalf.

                https://www.tlcmarketing.com/

Their headline is "Our campaigns increased sales, engagement, retention & loyalty.
                Delivering ROI with passion."

                Sounds far-fetched lol

                • +2

@dji1111111: There are 5 KPI's described there (including passion).

We can probably predict their score out of 5 …

                  • @kickling: you are right - 5 different KPIs up there and completely not met any of them. In fact, this promotion affects the reputation of BIC and potentially Weber (indirectly) rather than helping. I wasn't quite aware of the BIC brand even though I have a few of their pens at home. I am now very aware of the brand after this terrible promotion

  • May have been mentioned in this thread already, but it's getting a bit long, so…

Anybody actually had to do the thing where the "Buy & Win with Bic team" administers the prize claim? Are they asking for credit cards, and do they even have secure systems in place to be handling the data?

    • +1

I submitted a 'Bic team' code on Friday (28th Jan) to see what the resulting email says. I haven't received anything back yet. I resubmitted yesterday just in case.

      I don't think anyone's received the email yet….

I guess they'll wait 2 months before responding and say I've waited too long to claim my 'prize'.

      • +1

Same for me; successfully submitted a redemption online on Tuesday 1 Feb and am awaiting the email.

    • +3

Only the most secure systems at BIC (or TLC Marketing or whoever), my mate just recieved this email message from them:

      https://imgur.com/a/gcbHwEI

Have ripped out his personal details but the usual banner with the "Instant Win $50 Weber Vouchers" and the picture of the gift cards is still in the header as well…

      • +1

So just send all your personal details through email? haha…

        • +2

Sure. Would they like my combank login and password details too. Surely i can trust the incompetent staff at BIC 🤦‍♂️

      • +5

Oh my god.. they seriously want people to respond to an email with their credit card details?! I didn’t think It was possible for this whole thing to become even more farcical 🤦🏽‍♂️

        • I mean, at this point, I really wasn't expecting anything less. Although, the pedant in me says they even have this wrong as it is a "CVV" not "CCV" :)

      • If BIC are adminstering the promotion, seems like TLC are not longer involved.

They must of wiped their hands clean due to the amount of changes in T&C's to avoid any legal implications.

      • It's bizarre that some people are still receiving giftcard while some are clearly receiving this email.

I guess it's most likely game over then?

They must be crazy to request people to handover their credit card details in an email lol

Who will type in their credit card CVV in an email? that's just asking for trouble.

Clearly nothing about how long the delivery will take once you reply to that email.

        • I suspect if you submitted prior to the 13th (or 16th?) you get a gift card and after the 17th gets the email @trisreed posted. Must relate to when they changed the T&Cs (or submitted the change for review?), i.e. prize is bound by the T&Cs at time of submission.

          • @aliasneo2000: Terms were changed after the 19th
When i submited on 17th and 18th terms where gift card and unlimited redemptions. Even made the effort of reading the fine print

            • @easternculture: Yeah, I made a claim on the 13th and received gift cards a few days after. My claim on the 17th came back with the 'administered by Bic' email on the 28th. Based on comments, it seems people that submitted prior to the 13th are still being drip fed gift cards. I don't know, just trying to make sense of the inconsistent process…

          • @aliasneo2000: I submitted on the 15th and just received the credit card via email response.

Sadly I actually need a new bbq after mine was stolen and was waiting for a good price on the Q2200. Could have just zipped down to the shop weeks ago and picked it up for $479 … now $509 RRP!

      • +1

Oh cool…I'm sure they've ticked all the boxes here then: https://business.gov.au/finance/payments-and-invoicing/proce…

        8-O

  • +1

Well returned the last batch of lighters to coles yesterday. They gave me cash even though i paid with a discounted gift card

They basically f****d TLC and Weber.
Like who in their right mind is going to buy a weber after the 10% price hike. Could have bought it last week, no voucher required and got it cheaper

    • How many did you return in total?

      • +2

Returned 20 last week at 10 yesterday
The girl didnt say anything, like she was expecting me lol

    • +3

I mean you generally can buy things cheaper before companies put the prices up on things. This isn't new…

      • Salty…but cracked me up!

        • +1

haha I just don't think it's quite going to have the effect on Weber as old mate thinks it'll have. Most soured by this whole debacle were never hunting for a Weber in the first place. The price hikes are another story completely.

  • -1

Does anyone know if they expire after 72 hours or not?
I've only been receiving one gift card per day (I submitted 10), and I want to put them all together in one purchase, but if I wait for the others to come through, will my first gift vouchers that I've received expire by then?

The gift card says 2025 expiry date on them…
I don't know why they are sending out 1 gift card per day instead of all 10 at once, perhaps to stop people stacking them?

    • -1

yep to stop stacking/recycle gift cards we are hearing.

you are best off trying to use them within 72 hours. maybe hit up a local store and buy some stuff, keep receipt to return at a later date to get fresh vouchers and stack then

      • Not a bad idea but too much hassle

      • You can order online then call and cancel
They will refund with fresh gift card

  • -1

Loads of discussion. So Just confirming
1.$50 code with every purchase still?
    2. Not stackable
    3. What is the deal with people buying and returning?

Appreciate your response. Want to order a weber today

    • T&C and how it works has been changing on the fly. Depending when you've submitted the receipt, currently nobody's certain if gift cards are still being given. Latest response has been that you'd be administered to purchase a BBQ with 50 credit instead.

      • Thanks

  • How long are you guys waiting for the gift cards to turn up?

    • Claimed the gift cards 1 week ago today. Nothing yet.

    • Just got mine yesterday. Claimed 26/01. I got sent 3 access code by accident lol (2 don't work).

      • I presume you got the 'BIC administered purchase' email?

  • So should I expect to wait weeks for the first stage Register and then a few more for second stage Claim?

    Would love a weber

    • Everyone seems to be getting different results. I submitted a claim on the 17th Jan, received my code on the 28th Jan, and nothing since. Have resubmitted my code and still waiting.

It seems since the 14th Jan everyone's getting the 'BIC administered purchase' email, so probably better off buying it via other, more secure, means when on sale.

  • Hang onto your receipts in case you win the bbq in a month's time

  • My experience, the day this was posted I went out and purchased a lighter put through redemption. Within a few days I received a weber gift card. Purchased some accessories and they have arrived. I purchased another lighter and put through another redemption, received a code a few days later. Code didn't work and I got an error. I tried calling the stated numer numerous times after 6 minutes of "on hold" phone disconnects. I then emailed over 2 weeks ago, yet to receive a response. Emailed again last week. Still no response. Wife put a claim through about 10 days ago and received a code a few days later upon redeeming received the following message.

"Thank you for participating in the Buy & Win with BIC promotion.
You will be sent an email confirming your redemption to your nominated email address.
The email will request you to select your Weber BBQ’s choice, you can use your $50 Weber Voucher reward towards for the purchase of any of these Weber BBQ models.
The email will request credit card payment details for the remaining balance for the Weber BBQ purchase and delivery details.

Note, the $50 Weber Voucher reward is valid for 72 hours only. You must confirm your choice of Weber BBQ and confirm your payment details within this timeframe.

If you don’t receive the email within three business days, please check your junk mail folder for an email from [email protected]"

    What an absolute joke!

  • Sorry guys - I need some accessories.

    Is this still a goer?!

    • Nope, game over. If you read through the comments, Bic changed the T&Cs late in the piece and now it's a pointless 'deal' which only applies to BBQs.

      • Cheers. Lots of conflicting comments that's all.

        • +1

Yeah, if you got in early then you got a gift voucher, but they changed the T&Cs to gimp the deal.

  • Just received my first voucher code after weeks and it's BLANK

Great news, your Buy & Win with BIC registration has been approved!

    Your Reward Voucher Code is

    • I just received my first one and it has a link after that part that goes to a $50 e-card. One down, 15 to go… wonder if they'll send me one every 3 days when the first one "expires" hmm

      • By the sounds of it you'll get your gift card links every 72 hrs, but the 'BIC administered' vouchers will come through all at once. That's my experience anyway.

        • Damn.. and we've established that the balance will revert to $0 after the 72 hours despite the expiry date? Everyone's experiences has been so all over the place I can't even figure it out anymore 🤦🏽

Edit: i just realised mine says issued 19 January just to make things more confusing.

    • This just happened to me, I got the code a while ago but only claimed the gift card now. The phone number just tells you to send an email which I know wont be answered in 72 hrs…

  • +1

I have not received a single email from BIC for more than a week now despite 12 outstanding claims which I have claimed using the reward access code more than a week ago.
Oh well it was great while it lasted. Still managed to get $250 worth of giftcard all up

    • Well, at least you'll be able to light a fire.

  • please check in here if you have lodged formal complaints with any regulatory body and what they have said?

    • -2

Or do a extra hour work and have more than what you will get from these Turkeys .

  • Put 5 reward claim codes in a week ago and nothing back.

  • Wow, looks like theyve just completely given up now. Not receiving any more vouchers or email replies now. They're ghosting us lmao

    • +1

Yep, nothing from them anymore. It seems like they have just ditched all claims in the bin.
I have returned all lighters now so happy to move on from this circus show.

  • There's a new popup when you visit the "https://www.bicbuyandwin.com.au/" site. Seems like it's evolving every day! haha

    BEFORE YOU START

Ensure you have everything you need to submit your claim! You have purchased an eligible BIC Utility Lighter in a single transaction in Coles, either online or in store, including Coles Express. Your purchase was made between 5th January 2022 and 8th February 2022 You must upload your receipt within 30 days of your BIC Utility lighter purchase in Coles or by 8th March 2022, whichever is earliest. You have a digital copy of your receipt ready as photo .jpeg scan or PDF You are aware the $50 Weber voucher reward is to be used towards a Weber BBQ purchase only and will be administered by the Buy & Win with BIC customer service team.

    • Haha, given yesterday was the last day you could purchase a lighter for the comp it's a bit late for that!

      • What a joke, complete fail

  • -1

I bought 4 lighters, first voucher I got had a $0 balance, perhaps because I waited more than 72 hours. Then used two to get an igrill 3 with $80 out of pocket. Then had to chase up the 4th but used it on some accessories I don't really need because everything good is out of stock. Returning the one lighter I got ripped off on with a $0 voucher. Overall pretty average experience, got a cheap igrill and some free other accessories but a lot of hassle.

    • What so you can stack? Why did I not buy more

      • Only because I did one in my wife's name so they came at same time. Otherwise, they only send you one at a time to stop you stacking.

  • Finally got another email from BIC. Unfortunately the revised email requesting payment details and which weber bbq I would like to purchase. Game over!

  • Is the return policy the same on the website as it is going through the other way of emailing them your bbq choice, credit card details etc.?

  • Is there anything to stop me buying 2 Smokey Joe kettles and then return them for a refund in person at the Weber Store? Either everything will go back into my credit card or will be credit card + gift card to redeem on accessories?

    • May be possible but unless you are after something specifically designed for weber bbq, you can normally find just as good accessories out there for a fraction of weber price.

  • 69 hours since my first and only voucher received and nothing else. Guess i'm ordering a few accessories.

    • I still havent received a single reponse from claims on 31/01. Registration was a couple of weeks before that.

      • +1

Hmm unlucky. I did all of mine on the 1st of Feb.

And almost exactly 72 hours from receiving my first one, i've just received the second one. Just wow…

        • was it the same one they emailed… recycling your old one for your new one?! :)

          • @leeroys_dad: Haha different.. although this card was also issued on the 19 Jan just like my other one. Quite annoying as it came literally 30 minutes after I placed an order. Still better than getting shafted with nothing though.

  • +1

    Just received another gift card

  • Nothing for me

  • Put in all the identical details getting "Your data redemption is not valid, please check your data again".. smells like bullshit.

  • Redeemed 2 weeks ago. Still no news. I'm probably just going to return the items and forget about it. Not worth the trouble chasing up
